or get a motorcycle. that middle weight 600cc. crotch rocket had him in a straight line. obviously 4 points of contact is better than 2 so it never really had a chance in the corners but if sheer speed is all youre looking for compares nothing to a proper sports bike.

I've been in a supercharged Atom, and it was one of the most exciting things I've ever done. The speed was just unbelievable, and my face was tingling for about 20 minutes after it was such an adrenaline rush.

It always cracks me up to see the extra-long magnet for the Koenigsegg because they kept adding letters to the name.
the newer season i felt lacked creativity and same with the grand tour feels like the newer seasons of top gear. :/
I think part of the reason why he hosts the show is because the loose skin on his face is a good indicator of how fast the car he's driving really is.

Tech They sell for that much from the factory now, they got famous, and reaped the rewards, not sure why people pay that much for them though, it's really just a bigger version of a gokart using aftermarket parts. Honda's powertrain, wilwood brakes, JRi dampers, its honestly all shit that anyone can buy. All togather if you bought the parts, and had a frame made, it would probably cost you 60-80k, but considering how they are starting at 65k now its honestly bullshit, try making even a honda civic from scratch and it would cost you hundreds of thousands if you had to mimic every single part. It was a great deal for a while, but it just ain't worth it anymore, especially for a toy that really has 0 daily usability, its a weekend and track toy. Thanks, but i'd rather spend another 20k and get a z06 that you can use everyday, a 911, gtr, 650s, could put that 65-120k towards a much better car that has better value.

The thing that is really impressive is that Aerial was able to get 300 horsepower out of a Civic Type-R engine through supercharging back then in 2004, whereas Honda has only gotten around to producing that kind of power through turbocharging the current Type-R engine of today in 2021.
tbf theirs probably won't do 200k miles on the factory oil after 6000 max revs cold starts like the factory ones :P
@@RWoody1995 I'm pretty sure they weren't using stock oil after made the modifications. It also just occurred to me that this thing probably has VTech which would play into the Supercharger even moreso if you were really dropping the hammer
This was the highest praise Jezza ever gave any car, ever - with the LFA a near run second. For a man who's pretty much driven them all, it's high praise indeed.

Drove one of these earlier and got a high speed lap with a racing driver. Absolutely amazing, crazy experience. Loved it
I just had 3 laps in one of these. simply mind blowing speed. best 30 quid I ever spent.

this car is amazing was just thinking about how it get grip as its so light and there is no body work so the air just gos right though it there is nothing to lift it up its incredible

i took one round the top gear test track three months ago and they are staggeringly fast. The video simply doesn't do them justice!
15 years later and its still fast as shit! Was first dose of Top Gear in the US back in the day when it was uploaded to CZcams before they broadcasted it on BBC America.

Its funny how some people keep mentioning a 1000 cc bike without showing any concept of power to weight ratio...So this atom weighs around 600 bhp/ton...and the 600cc bike weighs around 180-190kg and produces around 110 bhp..so it produces somewhere around 580 to 590 bhp/ton....a 1000 cc bike produces 185-190 bhp and weigh around 200-210 kg..so power to weight ratio jumps to somewhere around 900 bhp/ton....top gear is biased isnt it !!

I did some work experience at their factory, It was great, I got to go out in one, they are insanely fast!
it may have more HP per KG but it also doesnt have the tires, brakes or the downforce of a Ferrari Enzo
But it doesn't need that because it's so light
Oh an enzo will lose EVERYWHERE to this car, when tg tested it it outperformed it (faster around the test track). Your comparing apples and oranges
Ιt is a featherweight car,so there isn't need for very big brakes,plus it can not have the top speed of the Enzo,because for this,it should have more power.
You see,the Bhp/tn number,is not capable to outperform the total Bhp of the engine.
It simply is faster than the Ferrari,till some lower than its top speed .
You understand,that if you choose the new version of this car,which has 350Bhp,instead of 300,and Ohlins suspension,it is in a other world...
Less is more. That is what rocket science has thought me. If you dont have a huge chunk of metal to drive around the track you also dont need all the extra finesses essential to compensate for it.
+TheBulitt Downforce and 4 tyres is what makes the car faster around the corners and thus faster around THIS track

That was the most I've ever seen of the Stig's face.
If that was a 1000cc class race bike it'd be fine
theperson185 actually yes it would have done better but it still would have lost in the corners. Dosnt matter what CC you're bike is. You only have 2 tires. the surface friction of a 4 wheel car is always greater then a 2 wheel bike. It would only take 1 or 2 corners for that Atom to pass a bike. Their isnt a Bike on the planet that will have faster track times then a 4 wheel car. You can compare Indy cars to super pro bikes on the same track, and the indy cars always are faster.
To all the car enthusiasts. Most motorcycles are faster than cars due to their power to weight ratio, regardless of their not as good braking and inability to make quick turns. Had it been a 1000cc bike, the arial loses easily. I know men who own both open wheel class vehicles (this is no car) and bikes: they all agree they are the two fastest vehicle types for road racing but that the motorcycles are way quicker. Finally, think about how much bigger a 1000cc bike engine is to a 600cc: common sense shows top gear is not using a bigger bike out of fear.
bike will never be as fast in corners, nothing to do with power, in first its just physics.

I've driven a Lamborghini and an Atom around this track. The Atom was just incredible, like nothing I've ever known. I even scared myself driving it.

Totally depends on the circuit , a bike won't be able to come close to the speeds of that thing in the bends, the engine power and torque really does not change that fact. He got 4 seconds on him on one lap, On that track with a CBR 900 instead of that 600 the gap would have closed in by 1 second, 1,5 at the most.
