I received a wreath made with a foam core. The post person (female) folded it in half to stick it in my oversized mailbox. Holy cats! I hot melt glued the four pieces back together. Not worth my time complaining. Thanks for the entertaining and informative videos.

I'm glad to see that the Royal Mail is about as efficient as the U.S. Mail.

Using Royal Mail would be the first mistake there.
Their subsidiary, ParcelForce is just as bad.
I wouldn’t trust them with anything I’m not prepared to lose. They’re an absolute joke of a service for anything bigger than a letter.
Great job on the repairs though, & another great video.
I rebuild vintage magnetos here in the UK (occasionally for foreign customers too) & I will only ever ship with D H L Express. I learned my lesson very quickly with that one.

USPS "usually" does a good job of handling parcels, but they have managed to lose some package contents (notably one of two arbors I orders a while ago from RDG - no one else had these particular arbors; but then, I'm sure that USPS blamed the RMPS). UPS does not have as good a record, and almost every oversize envelope I receive via UPS looks like it had been used to clean the floor of the delivery truck..

Unfortunately, we often have the same issue here in the US - so many items unnecessarily damaged in shipping by incompetence. It’s good to see that you were able to set things right.

Gotta love couriers.... a law unto themselves. We shipped a rack-mounted server in it's factory carton and padding, triple-double-wall boxed with corner inserts to keep the boxes apart. It arrived at the customer site damaged, and when it was shipped back to us for evaluation, it appeared that a forklift blade had been driven through all 3 boxes, then through the (steel) computer case. The courier's insurance verdict: Not adequately packed for shipping.

Yea the "inadequately packed" is the default answer to everything. The shipping company destroyed, that was was essentially a electronic filled steel box that has hold up a ton of shaped cast iron. It came crushed with tire marks on it. To the answer "inadequately packed" of the insurance i let my lawyer ask them, how often packets are driven over by trucks to make accommodating to that the norm.

Keith: The USA postal service is no better, maybe worse. Smashed packages are a common occurrence, even if the box is clearly marked for special handling. They may even mistreat it on purpose, who knows. This does prove true statements about government incompetence.
Great job fixing their screw up. It's too bad you can't charge them for your fixing it. ;-)

    Nicely done, Keith!
I have been using pieces of leather to grip parts that I don't want the surface marred. A couple of sources are old work gloves or if I am throwing away a pair of shoes, I cut out the tongue and some of the upper portion.

Excellent repair! Does the Royal post reimburse you for damages?

Looks like the Royal Mail is picking up the work ethics of UPS.

Believe it or no I once had a lathe sent which was well packaged, when I opened the packaging the bed was snapped in half I think the courier companies must get some of their employees from the monkey house in Chester zoo

    Dear Sir,
I thought this kind of mailpersons manhandling the goods was supposed to only happen among us, third world postlings. Your sad experience made me feel a little better, sorry to inform you. A little like a girlfriend i had...
    Cheers from girlfriendless Brazil!
