The standout for me on Eric’s first album is Let It Rain and for me, Carl Radle’s bass is up front and man he is just pushing that song. The energy is just is beautiful. One of my all time favorite songs. The song hits 200 mph when Eric’s solo starts, for me it’s one of his greatest solos. It works so beautifully within the structure of the song. One those songs that if it comes on in the car, I’m suddenly driving 90mph. Great album because of the great band. I miss those days.

Thank you so much about talking about the 1st solo album again,. it really takes me back and is so special to me. I was 15 in 1971 is when I got the album i was too you g back then to know about cream and was just infatuated with the solo album he was so clean and fast. gosh songs like "Slunky' just blew me away and to this day I play "After Midnight" and "Bottle of Red Wine" and "Blues Power" and "let it rain" depending on the gig and just who was in the band & "Easy Now" was fun to play too, that whole album was great. I think the next album that i bought was dominos live then Layla was after that. Eric's tone is what got me my favorite tone was that dominos sound next was that solo album. I am guessing it was the Fender dual showman with JBL's and by the dominos he just had it sounding like his champs on 3 . that started my life of tones chasseing I guess now as I look back. I now have about 33 guitars, 7 or so Clapton signature strats and what like 16 amps from my1969 Dual Showman with JBL D-140's great with my 56 all original Strat ( My Brownie) bought that back in 1983 I think it was and my other flag ship amp I have is my 1961 Blonde Fender showman with the single JBL d130 I like it more than the Dual Showman=( Chuck Berry played thru it back in 1987 for 1 gig) I think the bass is just Smoother and tighter less boomy in the 1961 showman with the presence control. they sound great together. Amazing how Eric's guitar on the solo album has so much treble. I always shy away from that myself but love hearing him do it.......I get so fired up after hearing you and Bobby almost daily just gets me really ready and all fired up to jam and play again live already and more than just 1 gig.. I miss playing live with a band..
these little broadcasts came at such an important time I think and it is very well recvd and doing lots of us good. I love you guys for it and fell so pleased and with all these positive vibes like the old days that something really good and big at least to us and all that love listening to you guys will happen. I think Eric will be getting a ho0ld of you after this pandemic crap and before everyone is too old to do things justice . I just hope and PRAY I CAN BE THERE, I DO NOT WANT TO MISS THOSE SHOWS, concerts or gigs at all.... thanks guys. M.G. in Phx, Az. can't believe in 10 more days I will be 65 . Amazing feels like Yesterday Thanks Bobby for all the great musical memories and the mystical ones too!!!. Be safe guys.....

Thanks for some insight on Eric’s first solo album. I still think it’s his best solo album. With all those great players on it how could it not be?! Hey Bobby we all know the story how Eric loved D&B & Friends when you guys were playing on the Blind Faith tour. How about Steve Winwood? Did you have any interaction with him during the tour? Did he ever sit in with you guys?

Lord, love that voice Bobby. EC should have been singing backup to you my friend. You are definitely a more powerful, soulful and meaningful singer even tho he wanted to practice to get better as a singer cause he needed to be more. I say this after having Dominoes at Fillmore Live on repeat.

"My fascination with the gypsy lifestyle went back to something I'd been exposed to a little bit with Steve Winwood when he was forming Traffic and I was forming Cream, and we had discussed the philosophy of what we wanted to do. Steve had said that for him it was all about unskilled labor, where you just played with your friends and fit the music around that. It was the opposite of virtuosity and it rang a bell with me because I was trying so hard to escape the pseudo-virtuoso image I had helped create for myself." - Eric Clapton

Hopefully the Universe comes to work again and we may see Eric and Bobby do a special of some sort. Curiously, when Eric had done his 70th B-day event in MSG with so many friends and luminaries coming up on stage, but not Bobby Whitlock. All things considered, it's clear that Mr. Whitlock along with others has been a major force and wing man in the sails of Eric Clapton's career.

Growing up in New Jersey in the 50's & 60's, my friends & I were into 50's Rhythm 'n Blues vocal groups. One of our favorite groups were The Dominos. That Dominos vocal group spawned the careers of Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson. I always wondered if that name was inspired by The Dominos of the 50's.

Interesting in that the environment you're describing of the camaraderie back then seems to be quite the opposite today. The band I used to be in had that, and it was one of the greatest feelings ever. Anybody who picks up an instrument today thinks they're the new Clapton or Whitlock or name-your-star and somehow they think they have the right to a huge ego. Many times it seems the better the player, the cooler they are. Not always, but often.
