Beautiful song by John Lennon. There are so many beautiful songs that he did. And he was definitely flawed as a person, though. I always felt so bad for his son, Julian. He once said of his son that he was a result of drinking and a one night stand. So sad, but not long before he was shot and killed by some crazy, he was on his way to see his son, Julian, possibly to reconnect with him after many years of being absent from his life, For sure John Lennon was a flawed individual, but aren't we all?? True, very true. But most definitely a gifted artist...Always loved his music!! I would certainly love to hear "Instant Karma" and "Give Peace A Chance" โ
This song brings me sadness that John is no longer with us. At this time he was a New Yorker' you can feel his presence in the NYC atmosphere and his beautiful feeling, giving TV and radio interviews, showing up at some of the night clubs, at charities, he once showed up with 100 bulletproof vest for the police at a station. He was a doll.
Love this song, been in Beatle land since 64', so many memories of John living in the city. If was a different time.
Everyone has two sides. Light and dark. John was only a man but his music will inspire forever. ๐

Thatโs really cool youโre digging into solo Beatles. When it comes to John if I may, Iโd like to recommend Bless You. Itโs got a neo-soul like feel to it, recorded in 1975. John Lennon dealt with a lot in his short life, itโs hard to imagine the many let downs and abandonment issues he faced growing up and even well into his adulthood. He never quite got over those obstacles in his life, People took advantage of him constantly, and he was always willing towards others. His sense of humor towards the media was what got him through the Beatle years of his life otherwise he wouldโve never made it. Anybody criticizing him in these comments are probably the same type of people that brought him down when he was living. No one is perfect and John certainly wasnโtโฆwe all have faults but since heโs a Beatle, itโs easy to criticize his faults. For all those posting negative comments on himโฆplease do yourself a favor and really do the researchโฆ youโll find most of what you think you know is false and in fact you might learn to appreciate how he was able to deal with everything throughout his life.

What sounds like an orchestra is actually Lennon overdubbing 3 different slide guitars he played for the song.

I'm so happy that you found a way to continue this Beatles journey, regardless of CZcams's archaic Copywrite policies. There is so much awesome solo material from the guys, that it should tide you over until they start allowing the Beatles material again. I'm not sure if you want to do a reaction to the official video since you already listened to the song, but it would be cool to see you watch it. It shows John walking through his beloved Central Park in NY City, to his ultimate destination of a theater where a touring Beatles Tribute band was in town playing a show. I heard that when John wasn't in one of his periods where he pretty much stayed in his apartment 24-7, he would walk the park almost daily. It appears he asked someone to film him this one day, apparently because there was a Beatles Tribute Band playing locally. The video is great, because it shows the caring person John was, with all of the autographs he signs, and entertaining the kids that appear to be on a school field trip. Then a stop at the Central Park Zoo where he feeds the elephants. So very cool. I hope you enjoy it, and if you get a chance, it would be cool to see you do a reaction to it.

another powerful and lovely song by John ! This song is actually three songs in one. The Love is the answer part and the tail end "Make love not war" I would have loved it if they continued that last part longer. There is a bootleg of that segment that goes on for a few minutes or so, I have it and I believe in a Lost Lennon Tapes volume. (35 Cd set)

Oh no!!!.....wait......your wrong.......I'm perfect......a perfect mess!!!.......because I just dumped my bowl of cereal in my lap! Oh well......anyway.......I get kinda confused with this song.....because to me the term "mind games" has bad connotations.....such as when someone's messin with your head. I'm sure John meant it differently....and it's just my hang up. Love the music and of coarse the message. John like all of us had issue's and struggles in life. Yoko just turns me off to Lennonโs music, especially lately. She has recently injected herself into the credits of practically every one of Johnโs post Beatles songs. Sorry, sheโs a dragon lady and her treacherous ways literally changed the course of history.
After the Beatle's breakup, John Lennon proved that Paul McCartney was the real force behind the Beatle's greatness. None of Lennon's solo songs were any good, including this and the badly written "Imagine". Yoko Ono wasn't any good as a collaborator and manipulated Lennon into writing dumb songs.
