      Starting in KZN is like dropping supplies of money right at Zumas door. The rot always starts there and it’s always done in an underhanded way and in secret.

      Let’s leave race out of this and just get the kids fed, without lining the pockets of corrupt individuals.
      Centralised government control is open to corruption, we know that…
      Monitoring becomes easier the more you break it down.
      Ideally, school meals should be provided by a local non profit organisation. Central government can fund these organisations.

    Is this another George Building Collapse???

  • @bevturner2258
    @bevturner2258 Před 23 dny +2

    IMO School lunches should be handled at provincial level, by non profit organisations.
    Feeding 10 million children one meal a day (on the 200 school days) should only cost about 6 billion. That’s working on R30 per meal, which would definitely ensure good nutritional standards.
    Someone is making a lot of profit out of hungry kids!

  • @cheznone9296

    That food in the pot looks terrible. Centralisation in SA is so open to theft. I think every school needs to have its own kitchen where kids can learn to cook nutritious meals as well. Every school needs its own feeding budget. The new DA minister must focus on basic education as is her mandate. The government needs to urgently get that sector right - buildings, computers, books, kitchens toilets, security. Children are the future they must come first. Those women cooking the food need to have clean uniforms and hair covers and those kitchens need to be spotless.

    It might be a good idea to have a district level tender system, that way the district is accountable to the province and the province to the national, it also isolates the fall-out to single districts that are probably going to be easier to audit than a massive tender, corruption hurts the most vulnerable, people want to steal money from poor children who desperately rely on the support, really scummy behaviour

    The trough is slowly but surely shrinking for the swine, which is the cadre. Panyaza's tenure as education MEC needs close scrutiny as there is reliable evidence of corruption in the scholar nutrition program during his watch in Gauteng

    Why should it provided by an outside party and not directly by the state? No provider has experience in doing this so there is no private sector advantage is there?

      Staff is needed to prepare, serve and clean up afterwards.
      There are distribution costs as well.
      Still, the overall cost is WAY too high!
      So glad there was a whistleblower. Hope that person stays safe!
