Bernette 334D Serger / Overlocker - Detailed Threading Tutorial

A detailed video on threading the Bernette 334D serger / overlocker and some tips and tricks.
Threading is done with a pair of tweezers only as the threaders that come with the machine are often missing. I use colored thread to match the threading diagram to make it clear as to what looper and needle is being threaded.
This model has a handy threading diagram in behind the front door.

This video was a lifesaver, especially the close-ups, thank you! Quick question, I tried knotting new thread and pulling it through according to the original manual - and the video from the 80s - but it messed with the tensions, especially the yellow thread. Or the other time the knots broke. Is there a better way, or is it just better to rethread everything instead? Second, what if I only need to replace one thread, can I do the knot process, or is it again just better to rethread everything from top to bottom? I'm a newbie, so apologies if it's a silly question.

I like the sound of that machine! I have a Babylock Imagine which is a great machine, but it doesn’t sound as smooth as that one.

I have a 30 year old one and it still sounds like it’s purring. Hubby did break one of the thread stalks though when transporting it 😱

Do you prefer the Bernette 334D or the Huskylock 435? pros and cons of each? I am new to sergers and inherited both of these machines. Lucky me, right? I'm looking for a manual for the Huskylock.
