I own a 2014 CX-5. 103,000 miles. No probs at all. Best car I have ever owned.
You had me at no CVT! Mazda is super smart to stay away from CVT's. I am surprised they don't sell more cars for that reason alone. Great review. Thanks, Chris in MT.
They are selling quite well thanks to the 6 speed torque converter transmission in Australia. Mazda has beaten Nissan, Mitsubishi and Honda and sits just after Toyota. However, Korean brands are strong in the recent decade.
Totally agree!
I guess Americans have not figured out that CVT's are no bueno. I read a message board for mechanics. They all said to stay away from CVT's. Some said the Subaru's are a little better but at 100K miles you are gonna have problems. Mazda, Ford and the German cars are the best options at this point.
@@cbeech1631Ford is awful in the states right now. Helping my mom find a new car and we had to basically say no to 75% of cars that meet her criteria because they all have CVTs and tiny turbo engines. Right now it’s between the rav4 with an 8spd and 2.5NA I4 and the Mazda cx50. I’m liking the cx50.
I did not realize that the Rav4 had a regular automatic. I will have to check that out. I have heard the Escorts aren't great although a friend of mine has one and likes it.
Again thanks for reviewing the more affordable trims which is why I enjoy watching. Most of us do not want to spend 40 thousand and up. Because of the no CVT and the NA engine, I would not be a afraid to buy used. You are one of my favorites!
If you get a chance I would love to see a review on a 2024 Mazda 3 sedan in the preferred trim. Great job!
Exactly what I was looking for in a review of the CX-50 Premium. Thank you!
Gotta say, this is the first time I've seen one of your reviews. TBH, one of the most comprehensive reviewers I've seen. Thought it was great how you actually showed how the info system worked and what all the buttons were about. About the vehicle, I like it but would wait for the hybrid to come out and, fingers crossed, they keep the auto and not hook it up to a cvt.
Wife just got his. Ingot blue premium Cx-50. Wow it's a lot nice than we thought it would be. Thought the NA engine would feel slow, but it doesn't at all actually. And you can get 0% for 60 this month on premium up which is still fairly rare.
👍🏻👍🏻 Watched until the end. Enjoyed. Shopped Mazda last year. Great line up.
You the MVP!
I have a 2018 CX5 that has been 100% reliable with 85,000 miles. Mazda designs some nice vehicles. It would be nice to see them refresh the interior since it doesn't look that much different from my 18.
Have you had any issues with the cylinder deactivation feature?
Great question about the 2024 Mazda CX-50 Premium! It's always exciting to explore the differences between car models, and your video sounds like the perfect guide for anyone curious about the CX-50 and how it stands out from the CX-5. Can't wait to see your insights and comparisons - keep up the awesome work with these informative videos! 👍🚗💡
Great thorough video! Thanks. This is the exact video I was looking for
I love my machine grey CX-5, and machine grey on all Mazda... but black looks so good on the CX-50!
I just bought a Premium in Polymetal Gray a couple months ago, and I agree with essentially everything in the review. It's a great vehicle, has more than adequate power with the N/A engine, which the transmission does a good job of keeping in its power band. I got 30.1 MPG on a recent 380-mile trip of mostly highway driving at 65-75 MPH; getting 27-28 in rural driving. It's my first Mazda and probably won't be my last.
Very informative!!!
You are SO right! That Satin Chrome accent at the rear of the side windows is very interesting! I never noticed that design treatment before you pointed it out!
It’s interesting, but it works for some reason
I fully agree it works, Kenny! And I haven't seen another manufacturer use it!
Mazda has always made a great car. I loved my MX6.
I never knew until I got behind the wheel of one..
Great review Kenny! I love the looks and interior. Very upscale almost like a Q5. Hoping you are doing well!
I was thinking the same thing when I was editing this..
Very thorough! Thanks!
Good info and timely considering I've been deciding which CX50 to buy and it came down to the premium. Mainly because of the 17 in tires like I have on my 2013 CX5. 20 in tires in the poconos is a great way to blow a tire and damage a wheel. I plan to add the optional rear view mirror with garage door opener.
BTW the 2.5 engine is powerful enough considering my 2013 cx5 only had a 2.0 155 hp and it was adequate up to 85 MPH after that it got winded a bit.
I test drove one. My two main creature comfort complaints: 1. No parking sensors 2. No garage door openers
Good review. Love the look of the CX-50
Thanks for the review. I am actually in Centreville and I will be shopping for a new car at this dealer this Saturday (if it doesn't rain....)
Please be sure to mention 703speed when you go in!
I just got the 2024 CX-50 Select which is the base model and I absolutely love it. I have a Highlander, Outback and Forester but I love this car so much I don’t think I will buy anything but a Mazda going forward. The other cars are very good but the look of the Mazda and the way it drives takes it to another level in my opinion. Highlander drives great but it’s a lot more expensive. Subaru is a beast in the snow but not as fun for daily driving compared to the Mazda. Still a very safe and reliable car if you are thinking about a Subaru. Great review Kenny!!
Thank you! I'm glad you like your car and wish you many reliable and safe miles
Amazing video Kenny.
Thank you bro!
Beautiful looking vehicle. 🔥
LOL! The Mazda convoy was cute! Great review of the Mazda CX 50! I have a CX 50 premium plus and I really like this car! It has significantly less power than my previous vehicle, with the naturally aspirated engine, but after learning to be a little bit heavier on the foot pedal, I have no problems getting around with it. And, yes, I do believe the transmission will learn your way of driving.
Haha - I think the turbo would really take this to the next level
@@703Speed when I was shopping, I test drove the N/A CX-50 back to back with a Turbo CX50 and a turbo CX5. Weirdly enough, I felt the driver's seat back was to firm on the CX5 and the center armrest was too short. Although the seats are firm on the CX50, I'm able to make the driver's seat conform to my back perfect? The Turbo engine on the CX50 seemed louder for some reason than the N/A engine on the CX50 under normal acceleration or maybe even idling
I wish I got this car, I ended up with a G70 3.3T (yes its a very diff car) but something about the cx-50 really catches my attention, to me it was comfortable, and drove great and the size was perfect. might get rid of the genesis if the insurance rates keep rising in florida and get the mazda. (tho i want to see the cx-70 first)
Insane Mazda Kenny.
It's insane in the membrane.

Very nice.
It looks better and sportier than CX-5, great interior. Greetings
This is a really cool mazda. I would rock it.
Me too - if I had kids it would be a great family car
I love black- but I am no longer able to be out dusting it off every 10 minutes as it would require to stay clean and shiney like that.. :)
What is the difference bt Turbo premium and S Preferred?
They could have some softer material and leather on the upper door portion instead of that panoramic roof.
Good video
Thanks
How tall are you? Seems like you have alot of head room. Saw Radi Rides at 6ft his head was riding close to the roof. Biggest concern for me. Thx

I have a 2019 CX-5 and I test drove a CX-50 the last time time I had it serviced. IMO the CX-50 is not worth it without the turbo engine. My current CX-5 which is smaller and lighter has the same engine as the CX-50 and too me it already feels a little sluggish.
I was hoping to hear you say the wireless charging pad didn't work on your iPhone 14 Pro Max! I just test drove and am purchasing a CX50 but the wireless charging pad doesn't work on all of our phones. Apparently it's a known issue. You mentioned that your phone wasn't charging "yet" but fact is it wasn't going to even start to charge :)
I have. ‘21 CX-5 with the same engine and transmission. I was a Toyota fan for a while until I picked up my Mazda. The Mazda is very comfortable and very quiet. Along with great gas mileage. Also it’s made in Japan (where you want them to be made).
Just curious but which trim did you end up going with?
that all black is sharp looking nice cx50
Agreed
I trade my mk8 gti for a mazda cx-50 i love it it very smooth and spacious i like the 6 speed transmission
I enjoy all of your videos . . I wouldn't call that car "pretty quick", though . . maybe, "adequate" . . .
I agree with you there 😂
Imagine the CX50 with their new inline 6 engine.
I tride it out but couldnt grt past that stupid stitching riding right upy butt crack on the seats. Also the CX-5 had more comfortable seats overall.
Mazdas even said themselves that they won’t do CVT’s. Like Japan never believe in Japan. It’s a trend where people want fuel economy that it started before with the CVT.
This is a premium? with 17” wheels??
yes
You have to go to the premium plus trim to get the 20 inch wheels on the naturally aspirated engine
Wireless charging is NOT standard on the Premium, only the Premium Plus and above.
I thought I saw when you built one that the premium did have the wireless charger
@@eleanormassaro5195 Premium Plus does, not the Premium, in the US at least.
@@obiwan5999 I just checked on the Mazda USA site. The wireless phone charger is standard on the Premium and Premium Plus. It wasn't standard on the 2023 Premius Plus. But now both are standard on the 2024 on the Premium and Premium Plus
I have the premium and it came with the wireless charger
@@emebig In the US? I have the 2024 premium and it did not.
still wouldn't buy one simply because it is not made in japan.

CVTs murdered Nissan at least Mazda is smart enough to not go that route
