Good demonstration!! Its nice to see jigs that don't cost a small fortune and produce quality results. Favorite part of the video was when you made the router sound with your voice...
Oh my goodness where was this template last night when I needed one?! It literally took most of my day to chisel to the correct size and depth for two hinges to hang my bathroom door!! Geez! I am heading to HD to purchase one! Thanks for sharing this very informative video. 👍
Fantastic video. I watched this video 3x. You make it clear and understandable in a very short amount of time. I am about to go and use it on my new door. Wish me luck. Thank you. Hugs, Kiki
LOVE this!!! My doors are on the way. I'm making sure I get what I need to mortise the hinge space. I plan to lay the existing door next to new door and mark. I can't wait! But all this for a minute 30 seconds of work is sort of a let down.😢 I'm gonna be asking people if they need a door installed! Sad they charge $100+ for door installation...
@@hjmilla Haha crazy how much time it takes! My expectation at the start of the project would be a few minutes but usually end up spending the whole day and night working on it lol
I suggest that you place the router into jig BEFORE YOU TURN THE ROUTER ON. Also, turn the router OFF and wait until the router stops before you remove it. The Jig is made of plastic and a turning bit could damage the Jig.
Great video Ty. I’ll definitely be buying one. I’m replacing 14 doors in my house. I’m also removing the kids bifold doors in there rooms and putting two 2’ doors. What do you suggest to route out the hinges on the jamb with?

My neighbor uses the chisel. I was hoping he had cordless gear. But his work was amazing. I bought the jig and the router without a battery. I have so many other great ryobi tools.
Im replacing all of my interior doors, 9 total. I did one yesterday and cut the hinge slots with a chisel. I do not want to do that again. Im defenitely getting this jig. Thank you!!!!
@@jlowe600 it was a good investment. I would say that if you plan on doing more than 3 doors, just get the jig and a cheap router from harbor freight or walmart, if you dont alrrady have one. It will save you time and frustration. The cuts are very smoth making it a profesional looking job.
Maybe I have a faulty temperate, but tightening down the clamp enough to where it won’t shift around pulls the temperate towards you, throwing off the measurement. I learned that the hard way on the first door we hung.
Yeah take it back and get a new one there must be something wrong unless you're doing something wrong because it works perfectly fine without over tightening it which is what you had to do

How do I know we’re to make the cut on the door for the hinges? Also what about the frame the mount on how’s that done because the frame isn’t the same as a door.
If it's a door that has no hinges already installed if it's just a blank jamb and a blank door just measure an existing door and match that There are many templates for the jamb templaco makes a good one

That kind of sucks IMO that you have to chisel out a little for square hinges. I’m contemplating buying this jig, but when I found out that it doesn’t totally route them out perfectly square I’m looking for a different option. If anyone can recommend a jig that will cut out a square hinge without not having to use a chisel please let me know. I have 18 doors to do. Ty
Thanks!

Did you get the router and the kit as one package or did you have to buy it separately?
Routers completely separate

what router bit was included for the 1/4 round hinge edges?
The kit comes with a Bit
Thanks pal.
The particular hinge that he was using is referred to as a 5/8 radius
And the other type radius is 1/4"

Thanks I have 7 doors to hang and I was wondering if this would be a good tool Seems to work good
This tool totally rocks
I just did three more doors yesterday
This thing pays for itself the first time out
After that it's all gravy
Stupid question how do you know where to notch out are all doors standard? Also would this work with any router or just the Ryobi.?
Any router
And if you're starting from scratch
just measure any door you're near
to get the measurements
for where you want to put the hinges

No

If it's a door that has no hinges already installed
if it's just a blank jamb and a blank door
just measure an existing door and match that
There are many templates for the jamb templaco makes a good one

@@Joe-fo3fg you still need to chisel out a small amount, as the router bit wont make a perfectly square corner, but the template gets you close.
