      Hey 👋 Kevin - Thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry for replying so late. I guess buy now, you might have had a chance to try it out (if
      you are in a southern state) Hope it’s working well. If you haven’t tried it yet, I’m sure you’ll like it as I did!

    I like the neat features of this kayak. It is really built for a kayaker. I was leaning toward the Pungo but I am going to have to find and sit in one of these now.

    The Tupelo is great, very roomy too! If you are a little more advanced in your kayaking and want to go faster and farther in a day - try out the Journey.

    Nice work...showed the hull detail and rationale. The sit on top: your center of gravity is higher, so need width for stability. The ADVANTAGE of sit on top is that you can go for a swim in warmer water....watch for alligators.

      @KayakCliff  Pƙed 5 lety

      John Stewart thanks for the comments John! I totally agree with you, I have a wilderness tarpon sit on top for the warmer months when I want to go swimming.

      Jonathan Cullifer - Hi Jonathan! I started out with two Tupelo kayaks after selling my two sit on top 14’ kayaks. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tupelo’s. My purpose of moving from the SOT’s to the Tupelo’s were to get something that was lighter to carry and faster and more wind resistant. After about a year, I sold the Tupelo’s and bought two Jackson Journey’s. I would have loved to keep all 4 kayaks but don’t have the room. Right now, the Journey is my sweet spot, but I really do like the Tupelo’s too! Will be doing a review on the Journey’s soon! What type of kayak do you paddle?

      Kayak Cliff any plans on kayak camping and gear reviews?

    I'm 6'2 240 and sat in the 12ft version which was very comfortable. Just curious your thoughts on which one for my size?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Pƙed 6 lety

      greg E Hi Greg, I am 6 foot 185 and I am much more comfortable in the 12’5” model. I can fit inside the 12 foot, but there is not enough deck height for me to position my feet properly. I have to have them sideways and they do not fit right. I also like to have the extra weight carrying capacity for camping, coolers etc.

    thanks so much for such an informative video. trying to decide where to go post 14.5 liquidlogic inuit. wanting something lighter, shorter and roomier. i'm 6'1" 150pds. do you think the tupelo 12.5 would have room for me and a dog? as i understand it, the tupelo replaced the ibis?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Pƙed 6 lety

      Allison Gower - I think the Tupelo 12.5 (not the 12.0) might be the right boat for you. You could also look at the Wilderness Systems Pungo 12.
      Most kayak retailers that sell these boats will let you try before you buy - I recommend doing that.
      Sell your Inuit on Craigslist.
      Safe paddling!

      thanks so much cliff. you seem like such a good-natured person, really appreciate your stylings. i found a good deal on a 2018 12.5 on craigslist so may try it and if it's not the right boat for me, sell her to another paddler. seems like she's a fast boat with manuverability and stealth. i loved my liquidlogic inuit with all my heart, so it's going to be a tough shoe or hull to fill. :)

      I think you will have plenty of room depending on the size of the dog. I have a 15 pound Yorky that fits fine.

    Great boats but better for fishing with the frame seat that sits up higher. Not great for tour type paddling. A seat such as the Pungo or Tsunami is much more adjustable to get that dialed in one with the boat paddling experience that makes a sit in boat a joy to paddle all day long.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Pƙed 6 lety

      ranmangolf - I have only used it on flat water, but I think it would do fine on class 1. Get a spray skirt for class 2 maybe....

      The size can be tricky in tight spots, it requires more thinking ahead and good positioning to stay out of trouble!
