i can’t stop crying, seeing how much this game has changed is so hard for me because it reminds me that ill only keep growing. i was 5 when i started playing this game, and 9 years is a long time. i wish i could go back to these days when i had nothing to worry about, no school, no homework, no tests, *no growing up.* i want to remain a kid forever, i want to relive the day when i first created my character, the day when i first learned how to jump, the day when i bought lifetime star rider, the day when i bought a new horse for the first time, the day when i unlocked the harvest counties, or even the day when i first glitched into a closed area. i miss it so much. it’s crazy what a game can to do you, and i don’t think ill ever forget the amazing memories ive made on star stable online.

I'm 19 now and I'm still playing SSO. I started in 2013 and that feels so weird to me. Like, how the hell this game is already 11 years old, just unbelivable :P SSO changed so much, especially after 2018 - some changes are good, some of them not. But it's still so fascinating to see them, see this changes. Because it means that this game is still "alive", there are still people, who play it. This year I showed this game to my 11 years old niece, so I really hope that she will like it, because SSO meant so much for me. When my life was hard(because of school) I always could escape - to books, drawing, my animals, horse riding in real life and Star Stable of course. When I was sick and I couldn't ride on horses, I always could do it at least in this game ;) I'm young adult now, but I will be still playing SSO ;)

New SSO team is destroying the game. That’s what’s happening. They don’t even know what Star Stable and Starshine Legacy is. It’s all about money now and mainstream. Mechanics, quests, characters and lots of content are being deleted, and more and more horses are added.

I wish they would focus on the actual game and less on new horses despite how much I love them. It makes me even sadder since the recent story quest about the “trail of Anne” was one of the most fun in a long time, I loved the music. But they keep taking away things we loved, from the snow, to simplifying certain characters, to moving event stuff like the pumpkin maze, or making events and items more and more expensive. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a 1k sc horse eventually. It just makes me so sad.

To think that back then the staff cared about players and even gave out free star coins and even gave some players lifetime star rider for free! They listened to players and gave them what they wanted. Now all they care about is their benefactors (people who gain money from a company or organisation which these companies such as sso depend on to stay up) and money which is why we are getting so much horses and little actual bits of content like quests and stuff… To them, horses means money and money means keeping the benefactors happy.

Ngl, but this was kinda making me almost tear up. I started playing the game at around 2012, I still do play from time to time. But, boi, the feeling of the game is just completely different from the past version of the game. There's also more people in these shots than probably what I might normally see in present times (the only places I usually see people at is mostly Steve's, Fort Pinta, and Moorland). I remember stampedes used to be a cool thing oldies like me liked to see and do, but they weirdly fell out of popularity and nobody does them anymore. Most clubs are dead nowadays, too. Unless you're counting the very specific ones that like to do dressage and are extremely dedicated. The only place that hasn't been touched too much is Dino Valley (they lowed the fog and now it's less mysterious). So, it still stands to be the most nostalgic area left in the game. SSO absolutely needs to make a museum, so we can go back and see what things used to look like or what it may've felt like. I like that the game is updating, but there are aspects of it they should've kept, like cold tolerance, ponies being slow, maybe actually add some type of thing to actually bond with horses as that is something they've advertised and never actually promised or added. The sea horses looked like they could swim in the promotional video, but actually can't. They also need to update their hardware as they've been using the same thing for over 10 years now. The game breaks with almost every new update. Some things I wish could stay kinda how it was in the past with certain things, but also wanting to move forward with new things.

Now sso only cares about money and they keep adding new horses, I’d do literally ANYTHING for them to add the option where you can change your graphic go the old one, ughh I literally love it so much and I remember when I created my first account in 2012, I honestly kinda hate sso because of this graphic change I know the game is getting ,,better” but just why… I actually cried ;((

Even though they’re changing the designs, redoing the words, adding more horses etc I can’t help but think that they’re ruining it. The appeal of star stable was the slightly jumpy animations, the worlds that were rough around the edges, because it was about the fun and the quests and the love you had for the game and everything that happened within it. Now, I go back to it occasionally but I feel so sad. It’s like my childhood has been replaced. I go to places that I used to love and they look completely different.

they could do so much, make so many kids dreams come true, but they honestly just dont care about the players. only if they can make money with it.
cant remember the last time i truly enjoyed playing or felt challenged by this game. its not the same anymore, just a grey dust of the bright joyful star stable we had. no easter, no valentines, i can imagine soon enough no halloween and christmas, just horses and money.

It's weird. I first played this game in 2014, I was 8, almost 9 years old and had a friend help me set the game up. My first horse was white with a blonde mane and tail. Played it until I couldn't progress anymore because I didn't have Star Rider. Left the game and forgot that account. Made at least 2 other accounts by 2016 just replaying what I could. One of my friends had Lifetime Star Rider and always knew the codes, so I kept asking her about Star Rider and there was a 1 week code for Star rider. Played it until it ran out and then left for years. Beginning of 2020 I got a book. It was about a girl and horses. It reminded me of SSO, so I decided to check the game out again and wow... How strange was seeing it again. There was a sale for Lifetime Star Rider so my parents allowed me to get it and then I finally had the proper adventure. While I understand SSO is a business that needs to run and is hard to maintain especially with how big it's gotten and how they're trying to update the look, but I can't help but think back to when we last felt heard or even cared about.
The communication between SSO and their customers just became this huge ocean that it's hard to trust them when the majority of the time we only get Copy/Pasted Bots to reply or get banned for Reporting a user who created a cheat mod.

I wasn’t a star rider at this time, but I remember watching people play and longing to experience it myself. The game isn’t what it used to be and it never will be. Now it’s just about spending star coins, practically. I remember, as ugly as they were, how much I loved my starter horse and how much I loved getting on the game and greeting old Dragondust then going on a little trail ride. It was so much fun. I might haven't been playing as long as other's (must be around 5 years) but I miss it so much. I got so excited to log in after school just to reach lvl 16 as soon as possible to unlock the southern harvest countries, I loved hanging around with other people because the community just was soo nice and chill and the game was just fun. The storyquest were interesting and the old graphics just made the game feel like a home. I loved my old starter and I'm still kinda sad that they changed it. Soon after the new graphic update I noticed that the game just felt different and quite soon after the quest with saving anne was out, I played it and then didn't go on my account for what I believe must be 1 1/2 years (in Late 2019). I started playing again like a year ago and the game changed. Many more horses but there were only like 3 new quests and Wildwoods (didn't like it tbh) which was disappointing again. New Starstable kinda grew on me because I still love it, but man, what I would do to just go back in time to experience the older SSO once again.
Starstable used to be such a good game, where ist it now...?

the old game had better graphics, styles, quests and gameplay... today's Jorvik feels like an alternative universe to this. old Jorvik was more enjoyable, realistic, darker than the Jorvik we have today... somehow it felt more realistic despite the developers putting in things that teens nowadays can relate to (ex. fangirling). back then, everyone was from Jorvik, not from London, Australia, etc. the old characters' backstories, personalities barely match the original ones, and it's sad.

One last rant bc somehow I get the feeling no one will read it anyway and I need it out of my heart and written somewhere haha:
I just get the feeling that it's always the same, a new business starts by building up on such good intentions, but at some point, the focus shifts from its original purpose to... money... and new people don't see it bc money allows for "quality content"... to some extent... but it loses the sense of family, home, being personal and close to you, this kind of "flirt" btw developers and community, where they do stuff for the purpose of making us happy, just bc they know we'll like it... it all goes to waste.
You're not a community and developers anymore, you're a buyer and a money algorithm, statistics that slowly forget what the game is built on, as long as the numbers are good, they're fine. Deciding on new stuff according to the money it'll bring in, not the heart of the game or even the community they are supposedly built on.
And older users who SAW that shift just feel BETRAYED.
I saw it with Wattpad, saw it in Duolinguo, saw it in SSO, it's painful and sad
And now, the one year where there is finally some concurrence, they are FORCED to either give us more or lose some decent amount of reputation and money... now they wake up... it's hypocrisy for me, they were capable of it all along but never HAD to because we had nothing better for us to turn to anyways, so they never did.
I'm done, there is no more trust, I waited 5 years, call me toxic for complaining and being pained by what this could have been, I'll take it and just bid farewell to a gorgeous game that carried my childhood. I'm sincerely sorry for all the bad vibes, I needed to let it out

I do feel like the quests were more dark and actually contained story. Nowadays it's all child friendly and no real story. The games storyline is all over the place. It used to be about reuniting the Soulriders one by one, preparing for the light ceremony we perform to stop Garnok from getting in to our world and Darkcore from releasing him by performing the ceremony backwards and while we prepare for the final battle we train, look out for each other, keeping the darkriders in check to make sure they don't get to reunite before we do and perform the ceremony and keep on the look out for other dark forces to enter or some smaller problems. The smaller problems seem to have gain priority while the main storyline has been forgotten. I do see they're trying to correct that mistake slowly but I just hope now that Concorde is an adult we can get back to find out where and when the darkriders perform the dark ceremony and also train our powers we barely use them how are we supposed to fight without knowing how to use our magic. Then there's also the light ceremony book that Dark core still posseses how are we going to get it back? Last time I checked in past quests when the old writers wrote the story we had to find the four copies of the light ceremony book because Dark core has the book but it seems that's just been forgotten since resucing Lisa, Justin and Anne. So I wonder how their going to explain that? If they scrap that part of the story and make a new one in finding like a copy of the entire original book later on in the story split in to like three parts it's fine but do something with it sso!! Also the fourth darkrider has yet to appear and it seems she's arriving soon so that's good. And then there's also still our depth to pay to the singing yue (primivail tree on South Hoof) for asking to guide Justin while performing the Whispers cry to locate Concorde. I'm pretty sure by now the tree wants our help. SSO has a lot to do to get the story back on track.

i’ve been playing since november of 2012. it’s going to be 11 year since i saw the advertisement for this amazing game. i still play the game every day but it’s not a large chunk of the day. training is split up throughout the day and if there’s quests, i’ll do them and log off after that. the game isn’t what it used to be and as much as i love how far the game has come, the nostalgia simply isn’t there anymore. i’ll be 21 in march. i started playing when i was 9. the current sso team simply threw the nostalgia away the day mistfall was released. i know we won’t get the old graphics, characters, horses, music, and sounds back no matter how much we beg the sso team to do so. but i have faith that we will one day as a birthday gift. a server dedicated to the old map, quests, characters, horses, etc. not only will it give the old players a revival of their childhood, but a chance for the new players to know what it was like playing star stable online in its prime. i still ride the old horses. i still wear the old clothes in champs, and i still play the old music when i’m training just to get that nostalgic feeling back. and every now and then, i get the adrenaline while competing in championships like the good old days. it’s moments like that where i wish the game never changed, the old ceo didn’t resign, and everything was mysterious, yet very peaceful. all i want to say is, thank you star stable online for making my love for horses grow stronger. without this game, i wouldn’t have ever known so much about horses, hence having amazing friends in every server that i travel to. thank you for being my childhood game and most importantly, my comfort game and my escape from reality when times got tough ❤

When I was sick from school, when I had days off, during the weekends or just after school I would grab my parents’ laptop and play SSO. The amount of fun I had from playing this game is insane. I have met amazing people on here and one of them turned out to be my best friend for over 5 years now. Because of this game we decided to meet in real life and it was definitely a succes. Not to mention the other great people I’ve met on here. Even though I do kind of like the way starstable turned out now, with all the good graphics and horses, I do prefer the old starstable more. Just because of all the memories I’ve made on there and the old graphics bring back nostalgia. I miss the old Star Stable so so much. This video is giving me so much nostalgia and brings back so many fond memories! It wasn’t even that long ago when we were running around on the old map, interacting with the old NPC’s (like the Soul Riders). Everything from the mechanics, interface, soundtrack and sound effects is what made Star Stable the magical game that it is, or was…
I actually miss the old soundtracks, they played more often as you explored different regions of Jorvik, and they were a lot more intense in terms of volume. I miss the simple things like having to travel to purchase clothing or tack items, or waiting for the bus to go to Jorvik City..Having to press W to maintain a horses gait and what not.
Such fun times, it’d be nice to play that version of Star Stable again.. 😌

I feel the SSO world has gotten prettier but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still very boring and there’s not much to do except quests. I recently stopped playing because there was really nothing to do unless u had star coins or a bunch of quests. Personally I have like 30+ quests to do just because I stopped playing and it’s very boring for me. I have to wait until I get my weekly star coins so I can go buy a new horse and get new stuff. I’ve just not had any motivation to do anything on SSO anymore..

i had a best friend on star stable when i started, we used to play everyday, come online and wait for eachother to come online. It was amazing, until one day she didn't come online anymore, i waited for her every day. Eventually i gave up, she just dissapeared, and i'm still wondering where she is, i miss her so much :(

the fact that sso changed so much in that short time is making me cry. i don't mean like Jorvik Island change, but mainly how sso staff changed. they used to give us free sc and even free lifetime sr and now they only care about themselves and their money. it's so sad to watch how they don't care about us anymore. i used to be addicted to this game and i found so many friends, but now, everything is wrong. i want old sso back. i want to go back in time to experience my childhood again. in old Jorvik.

What I also miss from back then is the old mysterious background music.. I didn't even notice it that much when i played this game more often, but when i started listening back to the orginal soundtracks from 2011 - 2014 of all the older areas and from the mainstory i got emotional.. All those soundtracks were way more beautiful and mysterious than nowadays. My favourite one is that soundtrack when you enter the secret stone circle for a druid meeting. I don't know someting about that one always get's me emotional or curious about the game's main story. And the dialoges of questlines were so much more realistic then now. more scary and it made me feel like I was actually talking to an adult and not a child. I mean even James a teenager is being seen like a godess and people of Jorvik actually pay him when he's playing mind games. Everyone used to see right through him. And the story in general was more logic. now it's all over the place. There was a clear mission to evantually perform the light ceremony to stop garnok and now it seems like all that is forgotten. just as older mysterious as Fort Maria, Devils Gap, Evelyn Goldspur, Old Hilcrest, fridge doors, if the druids are human or not, if the druids are the real enemy, The ice witch, Ashland, The kallters etc. are all forgotten or changed in to a childfriendly backstory or twist. Can we go back to the old times and have the old sso team run the game to show us what kind of quetslines should have actually happend, cause with the new management I feel like we might never find out what the old team had planned for the game's main story and side storylines..

the only sso i’ve ever loved and cared for. 🤍 things may not stay the same, even people, but my memories will and i will cherish them forever. i will never forget about my sso experience and when i stopped it all. i’m glad i got to meet amazing people, who changed my life. even though i don’t know if they’re still here, nor what they’re doing in life right now. joining sso back in 2013 will always be the best decision i’ve ever taken, and i can look back at my memories and smile, or even cry. ❤️
