I’m watching these out of order. This has been my favourite. Spectacular British Columbia. I wouldn’t have thought of Haida Gwaii for cycling, and now it’s on my list.
Really enjoyed this one, Dan. It brought back some great memories of some fast cycling with you down that long hill out of Rennell Sound during our rather soggy adventure on Haida Gwaii. I’m glad you included the Haida creation story for context, while you were near Rose Spit. One can’t help but ponder the Haida’s history while experiencing the incredible landscape of their ancestral home.
Just about made pushing our bikes up that steep hill worth it! Glad you enjoyed :)

Beach rides are the best part of BC. That was a thimble berry. Fastest way to charge up: 4 mini power banks 20W each, plugged into 2 dual usb-c 40W wall plugs. That gives you 80W total charging speed from one household outlet. You can get charged and gone in about an hour.

If you don’t like the weather in B.C., wait 20 minutes and it’ll change. Don’t like the weather in Haida? Too bad, it’ll still be raining for another 2 days! No Haida tour is complete without a couple days slogging through the downpour. I never reached Rennel Sound, got turned back at a washout near the top of the hill. I had to turn around and slog back to Queen Charlotte in similar rain. Too bad you didn’t have time to explore Moresby island, even more remote and spectacular. Trip of a lifetime, I’d go back in a heartbeat!
I lost track of your channel for a while and now I haves few months to catch up, looking forward to that! 😊 Great filming and narration.

You probably got this comment already but them there are thimbleberries (the tamarind of the PNW bruv) not salmonberries. Salmonberries are usually pretty watery but excellent as pancake batter additions.
I watched your video to check out the route but there was only a limited amount of info about your route. Thanks of posting because the video gave me info on road conditions and places to cycle. thanks for posting

Yeah it was wet for days! Not much you can do put carry on with wet gear

Welcome to the wet coast
Tip while in the usa get a mic so sound quality better while on the bike like a dji mic etc also you should reach out to tarptent and get a scarp 2 for free as thier is no way that bikepacking tent will handle wind in South America i know i had that bikepacker tent your flim quality is very good love it
I've picked up a mic so the sound will be a lot better from here! I actually started with one but lost it on my first day and couldn't replace it until I got to Victoria! That's interesting about the tent, I am definitely worried about it not holding up, do you think tarptent would give me a free tent? Glad you're enjoying the vids!

I noticed a shimmy or wobble in your front. Is this accurate? Won’t that saltwater damage your drivetrain? What size tires are you using?
It was probably just me trying to cycle while filming! The saltwater is definitely not good for the drivetrain but it’s only one day! Those were 27.5x2.5 and I’ve just switched over to 27.5x2.8
Great vid thanks - do you charge your electronics with the dynamo? + don't use that muc-off wet chain lube, it ruins your drive train.
Yeah the dynamo tops up my power bank a little every day and also powers my lights which is going to be really useful going into winter.
