  • One of my favourite places in the world is the little farm (owned by the Parry family) in North Wales named Cilbronrhydd (roughly pronounced Kil-bron-rid). The Parry family has lived on this farm since the 1600’s. Robin’s family stayed as B&B guests many times and became fast friends, as the Parry’s were so very kind. After Robin and I got married, we stayed there once too, and the charm of the place overwhelmed me. I longed to go back. Then in 1987 we had the chance. I sat on a Welsh hillside one sunny afternoon during that trip and wrote most of this little poem. I didn’t share it with them until a year or two ago, when I sent it to Margiad, their daughter. By this time her parents had passed. Now Margiad’s son, Ifan, lives on the farm. On coming back to North Wales this summer (2024), we had the chance to visit Margiad and dear Cilbronrhydd again, and take the photos for this little poetry video.

Very beautiful, nostalgic & touching! Reminds me of wild Ireland too, about 50 years ago in the west. 💚

Thank you! I love the way it feels there, how unchanging and natural.

I love this. I'm a country boy from Montana. My mother's people came from Wales in the 1860s, their names Davis and Morgan. This looks like home, somehow.

I know what you mean. My grandmother’s roots trace back to Wales and I feel like I belong there.
