  • We thought it would be a simple shed teardown, but decades of stuff were found and had to be removed. Nature also was making things difficult!

    Wow, what a lot of hard work. Could not believe my eyes at how much stuff came out of the shed!!!!!!!

      Yes it just kept coming. To be sure the people who lived in the house prior didn't like to let go of anything 😂 But look you learn a lot from it and we found a very old newspaper behind the mirror of an old dressing table describing the times from the early 1930's. Thank you for watching 😊

    That first shed was like the Tardis! So much rubbish squeezed in. Satisfying job clearing it all!

      Yes it was! I think this is the norm for any Irish Reno. The properties can be so full of stuff, generally rubbish and at the back of this I genuinely think that outside if the back door was in fact the rubbish bin! So much plastic! Thank you so much for watching and indeed for commenting 😊

    I'm surprised she hasn't chucked him in by now. He stands around, looking helpless while she beavers away.

    Your most recent video popped up on my feed today, so I decided to go back to your first episode and watch from the very beginning. Was a good place to start. It is unusual for Irish to do such projects in Ireland, glad you are doing so! From what I understood, these types of properties are not usually list on sites such as Daft etc. Where could I get information about such houses? West Cork is indeed beautiful, your land seems wonderful, with lots of sleeves rolled up and good amounts of tlc, coupled with patience, you will have a gem and a great family home in the forseeable future. Wishing you good luck and results each day! 😊

      Thanks for watching great to have you here 😊 just keep an eye on all the usual website. We also found some derelict properties by driving around and checked their deeds online to track the owner. Interesting activity but we didn't find someone willing to sell.

    Can you lower the music so we can hear y’all better. Thank you. WoW. Great job! Here in the USA, those metal sheets you removed, are valuable!

    Seeing all those sack? coming out of the shed I wondered were they old turf bags?

    • @WestCorkWander
      @WestCorkWander  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes, I think they may have been. That little shed was actually called the turf shed and the floor was covered in a kind of soil material mixed with tree roots. We actually were lucky to have been gifted a bag of turf from our neighbours for Christmas.

    what is the definiton for derelict versus vacant property to get the grant from the council?

    • @WestCorkWander
      @WestCorkWander  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Vacant means not lived in but habitable, derelict meant it is not habitable, i.e. has structural issues or electric or something
