    Enjoy the beautiful Autumnal colours along the River Bure in Norfolk Broads in November. A canoe trip from Coltishall to the village of Hoveton next to Wroxham. A maiden voyage in my Sevylor Adventure Plus inflatable canoe.
    I take a Wild Stealth Camp on the banks of the Bure, (7:05 mins) surviving under tarp lean-to-shelter. I enjoy a camp fire, evening meal and try to dry my sock over the flames! I will share the Folklore tale of Old Shuck, the Norfolk Black Devil Dog!.
    After breakfast of sausages and coffee, I set of to my destination, meet some inquisitive swans, but wait! There is a surprise in store with a possible malfunction of the inflatable floor in the canoe! Will I make it or not?

      Luckily the issue was that I had not tightened the "release" value which caused the air loss. I think the canoe is actually pretty robust!

    This type of inflatable doesn’t always get a good write up but then you do a youtube search and the number of people doing tours in just this particular one it is quite staggering. Other much expensive kayaks are nowhere to be seen.

    Another great vid, our boat is based in Brundall, and this September for the first time, we have just bought, and will be bringing with us, a Sevylor inflatable canoe. I was concerned about your floor going flat, did you find out why, leaky valve, or puncture, or was it a faulty floor from new, i`l know what to look for?.
    Next time you do this trip, if you do that is, i`d recommend a trip through "Bridge Broad", it`s the one inside the bend on the upside of Hoveton railway viaduct, opposite the quay heading. I`ve often considered mudweighting overnight in there.

    • @divum
      @divum  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Neil.
      I hadn't seated the valve correctly and it had snagged on the plastic lanyard creating a small gap which allowed air to release. Since then I've been careful to make sure it is seated correctly and I haven't had any further issues.
      Thanks for the broad tip. 👍🛶

      Thanks for your comment. Actually, it was just a leaky valve because I had not tightened it enough! A bit of a school boy error on my part. I check the canoe the next day and its absolutely fine. In fact I hope to go out on it in the next few days...

  • @iguanaamphibioustruck7352

    Why didn't you sleep in your canoe. Probably it deflated slightly to make it more comfortable for you. You need a tarp to keep off the dew. But then, you can stay in the sack until the sun comes up. My buddies and I started "packrafting" in 1974. I got the Tahiti K79 that weighed 13 pounds they got the oval, "two man" which was a couple of pounds lighter.
    A junior canoe paddle served as both a paddle and a walking stick At 45 pounds, our packs were good for a week. We did the Bob Marshal, Swan, Blackfoot, Clark Fork rivers in Montana and I did the Snoqualmie, Columbia and Lewis in WA. I also did the McKenzie and Willamette while living in Eugene. Few places are more Ideal for a fly fisherman than a river sand bar. And, leaving in your boat on a river with nothing to do for 3 or ? days but float, fish and camp on a sand bar is as close to heaven as I have ever been.

      Hi Iguana, Sounds like my idea of heaven. We just don't have that sort of wilderness in the UK. I can only dream of that kind of expedition.....

    • @divum

    Great videos, inspire me to make an adventure in the norfolk broads. Have you ever had an issue with people stopping you from wild camping or are you generally left alone? I hear the broads authority clamp down on unlicenced kayakers, just wondering if they kick off wild campers

    • @divum
      @divum  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for watching.
      The Broads wardens are active and definitely ask about licensing. I recommend a BCU license because it's only slightly more than a Broads one, but let's you paddle on most of UK.
      Wild camping requires the permission of the land owner, otherwise it can be a trespass. If confronted by the land owner or agent of, then just move! I have never had an issue.
      In the high season, all sorts of tents appear on the riverside or Bank and boats may also moor-up. Just be respectful, never litter and do no damage.

    • @divum

      Could be one of the problems of filming with a wide angle lens. It distorts any straight lines near the edge of the frame which has resulted in the paddle blades appearing to be curved away from the camera so it looks as if they are reversed in some of the shots.
