  • Macon is home to a lot of historic architecture, so we were just curious, what is the oldest building in Macon?
Matt Chalfa, the director of preservation and field services at Historic Macon, said it’s hard to trace the oldest building back in history, but narrowed it down to two contenders: 907 Summit Avenue and 2916 Vineville Avenue. Subscribe to 13WMAZ for exclusive content: / @13wmaz

Geez. friends of mine used to live in that house on Vineville back in the 70's...wasn't so nice back them, glad it was saved! Oldest building in Macon, who knew, we sure didn't.

@@karenlara9739 and I bet Clayborn may be a native Maconite. Have noticed native Maconites tend to berate it, and want out. Those of us who moved here, even folks like me who moved here, then found out the county is named after an ancestor, like it here and stay. Like that everywhere...funny that. Then there is the 3rd class of folks, natives who moved away and either moved back or want too...just how it goes!

@@JamesAllmond well hon. I only moved because my youngest son was working and he’d just finished school and my friend up here in Bristol Virginia wanted me to move up so I considered it and came. I love usually....the weather here but really wasn’t accustomed to living around mountains even though I’m in the VALLEY. I REALLY miss Macon and still have close friends there. I’ve been gone about 16 yrs or so ... so I’ve kinda decided I’ll probably die here. I’m 71 now and after I moved here for my friend... she died in 2010 and I just stayed here. So...it’s all good. You take care. 🤗🙋‍♀️
