    Recipe given in percentages so you can use it for any size mold
    If you don’t know how to convert percentages, this article will help: bit.ly/2DaKDz3
    Tall & Skinny Mold (Kiwi & Co on Etsy) - 10” x 2.5” x 3.5”
    Olive Oil - 40%
    Coconut Oil - 25%
    Sustainable Palm Oil -20%
    Sunflower Oil (high oleic) - 6%
    Avocado Oil - 6%
    Castor Oil - 3%
    For a palm free version, I use 15% shea butter and 5% cocoa butter in place of the palm oil.
    Superfat - 5%
    Sodium Hydroxide - use a soap calculator like the one at Majestic Mountain Sage (bit.ly/2ABEluj) to calculate the amount of sodium hydroxide required for your specific recipe.
    I used a 35% lye solution (water = 1.85 x lye)
    Fragrance:

    DISCLAIMER: I make these videos to share my own personal methods and techniques for how I make cold process soap. These videos are not intended as tutorials for beginners. These videos are intended for those who already have an understanding of cold process soap making. Cold process soapmaking has many variables and involves working with sodium hydroxide (NaOH, also referred to as lye). Lye and raw soap can damage your eyes and burn your skin. When making soap, you should already know and practice lye safe handling procedures and always wear safety gear. While I hope you find watching my videos helpful or entertaining, so many variables go into making soap and even the smallest change can greatly affect the results; therefore, I am not liable or responsible for your results if you try any of the methods or techniques that I use in my videos.

    Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well! ❤️ If you've tried the one pot wonder technique, did you pour your soap into the front, side, or back of the pot/pitcher? I think I like the side the best because it seems to produce more feathering in the soap. I put photos of my other attempts at the end of the video. One of them has an orange blob at the top because my soap thickened on me towards the end of the pour and would not cooperate. LOL

    Again, another fabulous video. I just enjoy watching your work. Such a great learning experience for me. One question though - how in the world do get your edges to look so wonderful???😀 I use a vegetable peeler also BUT my soap edges have dents and are so uneven 😔. Thanks again ❣

    • @hollysoapmaking
      @hollysoapmaking  Před 4 lety

      Thank you so much and thanks for watching my videos! When I’m trimming a soap for a video, I usually do it when the soap is still soft (since I’m in a hurry), so I do get dents and uneven places sometimes. To avoid them as much as possible, I try not to apply any pressure with the peeler. I think that helps. I just barely let it glide over the soap. I’ve also used my planer to trim the edges (it has a groove for that), and that works well, too. If it’s not a soap I need to photograph immediately, I always let it cure for a bit, and that really makes a difference. Hope this helps! 💕

    I used a 35% lye solution (water = 1.85 x lye)
    Hello Molly tghank you for sharing your beautiful soap making and recipe. One question...is this the same as water discount? how do you get the 1.85?
    thank you

    • @hollysoapmaking
      @hollysoapmaking  Před 4 lety

      Yes, a 35% lye solution is considered to be a water discount. A 25% to 28% lye solution is usually considered as full water. However, 31% (water = 2.2 x sodium hydroxide) is the most water I ever use. Here's a great article by Modern Soapmaking that should help, too (scroll down to the part called The Most Common Lye Solution Strengths in Soapmaking) - www.modernsoapmaking.com/lye-solution-in-soapmaking/ Hope this helps!
