When in doubt just add more paint 😂
U mean more pasta 🍝?
That was the first pass
Hahaha!! What a good laugh to start my day !
Thanks brota 🤣
No need to do that
Perfectly level. Rebuilding an engine is a thing of beauty
My guy used so much indicator paint that I could be painted red from toe to ears.
Your a bit stingy on the dye? 😂
What is the point of the paint? What are they indicating the depth??
@@KadoMason11 It is to indicate unevenness between one side of the block and the other. Unpainted usually means it is lower than the painted ones. It needs to be completely painted (flat), so it wont leak.
@@dilan789 wouldn't you usually coat the whole top surface of the block then surface until all the dye is removed?
Bro stop it
Pofavooooooo

@@user-pl7yu1sv3u cutting .1mil is better than cutting .3mil.
I thought he was gonna hand sand it
ive done it. regret it everyday, had problems ever since.
@@everythinggamer2663Did you use a piece of glass with sandpaper on it?
@@CentralTexasCarSpotter no it was a resurfaced block* of metal
@everythinggamer2663 Oh, I just assumed it was a DIY, I possibly had to do one.
You did the heads too and you still have leaks?
@@CentralTexasCarSpotter It was diy head was surfaced at a shop pressure tested and checked for cracks said it was all good and ready brand new head gasket imported I still see creamy oil on my valve cover but the oil still looks clean on the dipstick
guys its too much paint ,pls use 3 micron method
If you use enough paste, everything will show up as flat 😂
Was the second pasting even necessary? The first layer was completely removed, so the surface is flat?
@@pear7777 assuming the machine is accurate, it is not needed. Probably juat did it for the video.
@pear7777 mostly to show its flat on the video?, but I don't think you should just assume that it's complete because the dye was removed, there could still be low spots.
@@pear7777 this method was completely wrong, he left the low spots unpainted. So when removing the first layer, you are still unsure if the low spots have been touched. Paint everything first time, remove material until all paint is gone > surface is flat. The amount of godawful videos on this platform showing bad practices is ever increasing.
Video title: "Engine head resurfacing" Part being resurfaced: Engine block. Good job.
I agree it should be called by the proper name. It’s an engine block being resurfaced/decked. That is the surface the cylinder head will mate to.
Also The technique used in the video is mainly called Single point Fly cutting. HSS or tool steel for some applications but generally on blocks and heads carbide/diamond tipped tools are used for a good to perfect finish. The paste also kinda helps to lubricate whilst been machined in a weird and wonderful way too. 😎👍

Um grande bem haja aos bons profissionais 🤝
Old school. Never fails.
I've always just given it a quick coat of black paint ! When the paint is gone, block flat !😊
It was so warped, the first round of the red stuff it didn’t even touch parts of the mating surface
First time i see such engine head😂 So, how block are looking?
There are lots of videos of people using abrasives, usually improvised contraptions that aren’t suitably flat for an engine-mating surface. Often times when sanding by hand, you’ll see people working it back and forth resulting in excess material being removed in the middle. It’s not necessarily a case of knowing, as it requires the correct “advanced” tooling to do, in addition to understanding why.
I’m pleasantly surprised, when there’s so many videos of people spreading misinformation about cleaning or re-surfacing engine blocks & heads.
It is possible but highly unlikely, how do you apply pressure evenly using your hand? If you were to move continuously and without going back and forth you can try sensibly but generally speaking the results will never leave you with a precision finish; possibly within tolerance and without leaking (due to the gasket filling in minor imperfections). It is taught that without a router to deck the surface it’s best to leave it untouched; check for warpage using a “straight-edge” and a flashlight or feeler gauges, if within spec, use nylon cup brushes to clean off remaining old gasket or dirt/flash rust.
Nice work, but that's an engine block getting surfaced, not a head.
He did an uno-reverse on that job
When you can't find the dial indicator, feeler gauges or the purple stuff. Better than it was.
The excessive Quill overhang immediately set off my OCD....You can detect a self taught "Engineer"...🤔😏🇬🇧

Did this on an Astra head 20 years ago. I made an extended tool holder to run on an old Bridgeport mill. Seemed to work ok. Sold the car a year later.
I think he tried to put as many wrong things in a video to get comments/views including the title being wrong.
the channel name was mechanic9. but they didn't knew what is head and what is cylinder block
Wheres the 3 cilinder which does not accept repair?
Dudes talking about microns when the mill have a THOUSAND of play. 😂
That's not a head being resurfaced, it's the engine block.
Both
You can tell when it cleans up, all that ain’t necessary!
Great idea. Will do that next time
Dont forget the orange rtv gasket maker b4 u put the head gasket on 😂😂😂😂

Dude, you just added more paint to fill in the cracks😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Nice work.
Certainly is flat.👍💯
Can we apply gasket sealer the same way?
Only real engine lovers will like this...
it all makes sense now. You add the paint to make sure the head is all lined up and is perfectly surfaced
Love the hands God made and the tools of a craftsman
The first time he didn’t press or spend as much time putting on the red paint ofc it’s not going to be fully coveted
Perfect simple Methode perfect solution exzellent good skills
If your cutter is cutting on the back side then it's not level. This is just cutting a dish in the head all the way down.
He never heard about spray Dykem, I guess.
That engine head looks just like an engine block!
That's the main block, no cylinder head in sight 🤣😂🤣.
How it got so bad in the first place ?
It brings me back to the one time I scrapped Babbit bearings.
Great technique, I was unaware of it , nice 💯
That's an awesome machine , process is killer .
this is not engine head, its engine block
Description says engine head resurfacing but all i saw was an engine block 🤔
Didn't know Christian Louboutin is also in the engine rebuilding field. 😊
That is beautiful work 👍🏽
Better support the block MOSTLY by its 2 mounting points, just laying it flat is not as good, because it is not it's naturl supports, and it may not be so flat later; but it still works well.
We saw those low spots buddy! 👀
That's not the head. That is engine BLOCK resurfacing
With enough paint, everything seems flat
now i know what having a low tolerance means
Haarlineal erfüllt den selben Zweck ohne Farbschmiererei.😂😂
does flattening a block that much actually improve peformance? how much? I would think only 'good enough for the seal' is the stopping point.
Great job.
Buena rectificación!
Pedazo tornero si señor, buen trabajo (buena BSO😅)
What engine's block is this?
SURFACER 👍COURAGE
Why not spray it with layout fluid,do the initial cut to see how out of spec it is then ya won’t have to keep painting it
Bro's got like 5 thou of paint
Usually we are using blue paste right here.. and we call it blue fit test..
Great 3 hour video

Sieht aus wie ein C20NE Motorblock von Opel.
Yes but does that change the stroke at all ?
Dude had go back & forth to paint the surface I think you should check the tool.
Why would you not simply roll it directly on the block? You are going to surface it anyways, and I hope like hell wash the block afterwards. So none of it SHOULD still be there afterwards.
Thanks. Now i m know why many engine restoration has red color
Dye seems like an unnecessary step

This isnt head, but actually cylinder block.
Wayyyyy to much red-ink on that...
Just use a blue solvent with a small brush a very thin layer 😊
Pretty sure that’s an engine block not a cylinder head at least last time I checked it was anyway, I think🧐
