- The DCU is the upcoming rebooted DC cinematic universe lead by James Gunn and Peter Safran which is promising to finally give the DC universe the same MCU style well executed interconnectivity that it deserves and things seem to be moving very quickly especially with the first movie, directed by James Gunn, Superman: Legacy, a lot of characters have been confirmed to appear in the DCU and with the writers and actors strike going on right now, it’s unlikely any more characters will be cast or projects announced so now would be a good time to go over every character who’s been confirmed or hinted to appear in the DCU, so make sure to subscribe and let’s begin

For the DCU to be a success, I think it really needs to differentiate itself from the DCEU. An entire new Justice League cast only makes sense. Also, we need Green Arrow in there!

I think we've been sleeping on the Creature Commando casting, the fact that some of them will also appear in live action is huge.
I'm so excited for Nightwing and Cassandra Cain to hopefully appear! Nightwing is my favorite superhero and Cass is definitely one of my favorite Batfamily members, so this is so cool. Holding out hope for Tim, Jason, Stephanie, and Babs.
I hope babs is already oracle by this point and Jason is dead in the first one. That way, Dick would be off in bludhaven, they’d have references to him maybe even a cameo or scene, either Steph or Cass or maybe even both are active heroes (one could already be batgirl) and Tim would be Robin so we can get his dynamic with Damian. I really hope they don’t forget about Tim cause I’ve seen a lot of people saying they should skip Tim and I hate that idea. You can do both.
Maybe they could do Under the Red Hood as the sequel? It could work. Personally I think they should do Cass as Batgirl and Stephanie as Spoiler. Also, yes Babs as Oracle is the best.

Something Gunn & Safran said that makes me REALLY excited is that while they want their DCU to feel unified, they’re also putting a lot of emphasis into making them accessible without needing to watch 5 other projects to understand 1 of them. The MCU has run into that recently, making standalone movies hard to watch without having seen 2 other shows and a bunch of movies, so I full respect their choice because it makes me hopeful.

Back in May James liked a tweet asking about Wallace West so this is probably confirmation that Wally & Ace are the dcu Flash and Kid flash.

Sorry, a bit of a side track about the recent Hollywood strike. I had an experience with Motion Capture and voice acting and have to say even though gaming industry is a colossus these days, voice over actors and mo cap performers are not fully considered 'equal' talent as traditional actors. What's really interesting right now is that the mainstream, 'regular' actors demand royalties for their digital likeness when it's used on new projects they are not technically involved with. Something MoCap actors could relate to...I guess the movie studios figured that their 'creative accounting' and sometimes cruel contracts/ NDA's would go unnoticed into this new era of streaming. They were wrong, preparation is everything and they were completely ill prepared for this new platform of entertainment.

That was just taking about chapter 1, I figure they’re character for later on, especially Kyle Rayner as we’re already getting at least 3 human green lanterns in chapter 1, and we probably don’t need any more in chapter 1, with the next 3 after them likely being Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz, and Jessica Cruz

The creature commandos look so cool and the casting is incredible! I think it will be my favorite so far in the rebuilding of the dcu!

While I’m SO excited for James Gunn’s original works for the DCU, the only real area of concern for me is the crossover characters. The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker made it clear that they take place in the DCEU. While I can easily imagine Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller being like JK Simmons’ JJJameson and being the same actor, but Team Peacemaker seems harder to explain. “Shazam 2” and “The Flash” might’ve explained how this works by saying that some people look the same and some events happen in multiple universes, albeit slightly differently. Still, once we’re beyond the transition point and the new DCU is actually going along, it’ll probably be more clear and less confusing. The shift was messy, but the potential is boundless.

There might be hope for Connor Kent, but I think the Superboy they were talking about is Jon Kent. Admittedly that means no Supersons which is a massive waste, but if we got Connor Kent that's somewhat better.
I think blue beetle as a movie is a part of the dceu, but the character of xolo maridueña blue beetle by himself carries over.

I really want to see the Swamp Thing movie. Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing is one of my favorites.
Additionally, I really hope we see the Titans. Nightwing, Donna Troy, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Arsenal & Wally West (Flash). Maybe not Wally West in the Titans as I can see them using the DCAU’s JL as the template for the DCU’s JL.
Also I can see Lex Luthor using Metamorpho against Superman early in the film and then Metamorpho helps Superman against the big bad that I hope is Brainiac. Like it’d be cool to see Guy warn Superman about Brainiac’s arrival and they team up against Brainiac.
I don’t think Lois will share the main protagonist role with Superman like in Superman and Lois. She’ll probably be the main supporting character like she always has been.
I think she’ll be a main protagonist like she has been before and help ground the story and Superman.

If i had to guess, the four other heroes confirmed for superman legacy are just going to show up ad kinda random jla members, just to kinda fill out the scene, given batman already has damien, I'm guessing the team has already been formed to some capacity, plus that is just kind of an odd lineup of heroes to have

Static should be in this first chapter. Absolutely HAVE to get him involved. He will be as popular as Spider-Man with Marvel/Sony’s live action. Find a way to get him in to set up his own movie.
He doesn't really fit with the theme of gods and monsters tho, Vixen does, Nightwing and Orphan same boat as Static they're too human to be included, Batman is the exception because DC fans would go wild otherwise

You’re absolutely right, he doesn’t fit this theme of a chapter but somehow someway to squeeze him in to set up a movie would be great. I’d say in the Waller series would work but that’s so early in the rotation it’s unlikely but you never know.

I'm both excited and horrified of Static going into live action... I'm kind of that weird fan of static where I love the cartoon show but hate the comic. So I like I said. I'm both excited and horrified because I don't know which way they're gonna go with it.
A lot of adaptations take inspiration from other media. Like the black suit corrupting Spider-Man morally was introduced in the 90s show and is now the default for that story. So for Static most people I'd say know him from the cartoon, so I don't think there's any reason to worry.
As much as I like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, I would be absolutely disappointed if she wasn’t recast. If we’re getting a new Superman AND Batman, we can’t have someone from the old Trinity carry over, it would be a constant reminder of what was. All three of them, more so than anyone else in the DCU, NEED to stand on their own. Aquaman? Sure, I can get behind Mamoa being the same. Even some actors from Gunn’s DC projects are fine to carry over because they’re relatively smaller and can blend in more easily. But Bruce, Clark, and Diana need to be original.

It’s all going to connect, they’re just going to give us everything at all different story timelines but at some point in one movie it will all truly connect. I still don’t understand how dc can pump out amazing cartoon movies with depth and action packed, but come to live action it’s literally impossible to make something consistent and has some continuity.

Not all of the actors that appeared in james gunns side are returning ezra (he appeared in the s1 finale of peacemaker) won't be back after the failure of the flash.
I'm not a huge fan of DCEU characters returning in DCU with same actors, Kinda salty about it if I'm being honest here since it's clearly seems like Gunn is keeping his favourites and throwing rest in a trash can doesn't matter if fans like them or not.
Anyways since gunn is doing it, I wouldn't mind him but I don't want certain characters to return with same actors again and these are the characters that needs a recast.

Rest of the cast could return if they haven't replaced yet because they were good enough I also think Old Sucide Squad cast & JSA should make comeback, the movie were bad but the cast were good.

I still don’t like the name “DCU.” That’s the name of the comic universe. There needs to be some kind of distinction. Even the MCU, which is trying to call itself “616,” still has “MCU” title to differentiate it. I personally refer to it at the “NDCEU” (New DC Extended Universe” or the DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe). This is the one thing so far that I have a problem with with the new universe, and it bugs me more than it probably should.
This is how it starts...
I hope James restores sidekicks. There used to be a video that explained the importance of sidekicks and teenage heroes better than me but basically, the ideas of sidekicks and teen heroes are essentially dead. DC created the concept of sidekicks all those decades ago specifically for the children reading comics. They wanted to give kids characters they could see themselves in more than the adult heroes and help kids realize that they can achieve greatness and do something with their lives just like Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Speedy, Wondergirl, and the teen titans. But in the 21st century, there’s this wrong way of thinking that sidekicks and teenage heroes are bad and shouldn’t be touched and even when they are, they’re drastically changed from their core aspects. Like there’s been so many live action Batman movies and cartoons but only 2 cartoons had a Robin and Dick in the animated series was only a handful of times being Robin and we only saw him being Robin during his college years. Out of all the live action Batman movies, only 2 had a Robin and he was a college student played by 25 year old man. Wally West made his first appearance on the CW Flash as an 18 year old, and don’t get me started on how DC wrote the TITANS streaming show. Even the upcoming Bluebeetle movie is a good example because they have Jaime become a hero when he’s a 20 year old working man instead of having him be a high school kid like he originally was. Every time sidekicks and teenage heroes are brought out of comics, they’re changed so much to the point that they’re ruined because there’s a fundamental disrespect and ridiculous fear for them and what could happen in terms of critics, sales, and views despite how revolutionary they were back in the day because now Marvel and DC think stories shouldn’t have kids running around wielding powers and fighting crime despite DC being the ones who made that concept and did it for decades and marvel made a 15 year old spider themed hero in the 60’s who’s had multiple series of him being a teenage hero. I hope James nails Batman the brave and the bold. Make Damien 10-13 when he becomes Robin, have him join the Teen Titans and make all the members actual teenagers, have the adult heroes treat the teen heroes with respect and have them be seen as their equals on occasion and even let them call the shots in certain situations. I want an actual Justice League vs Teen Titans movie

Then again. In a podcast with Michael Rosenbaum it was confirmed by James Gunn that star city would be in the DCU. So it is safe to say that the flash will be in the DCU

How Lucas Till Gets Cast As The Flash .
I need a Metalo, Vandal Savage, Braniac, clayface, Soloman Grundy,, Endregen, The Legion of Doom, and Constantine and the Justice league Dark. Then I will be happy. I forgot to mention Mad Hatter and Proffesor Pig as well as Toy man, and The Doll Maker. DC has a embarresment of riches when it comes to characters. And as long as the dont try to dublicate Marvels Cut and Paste approach and are fearless enough to mix in MANY different Generes, that target many differnet audiences as well as go R rated for certain movies, they should not have any superhero fatigue. They need a diverse group of talented directiors with singular vision for each one of there films. It twill make the next crossover team up movie fresh and anticipated. It will feel like something complety new, that can reengage audiences .DC just needs the right people and for WB to stay out of their way.
