I am one of those that can't believe the 1992 UD Shaq #1 is more valuable than the 1b.. like you said, you can still, easily go buy a box of high series and pull the #1 card. maybe once the POP is higher than the trade card, it'll be different.
Just came across a lot that has so many of these. Sadly none were sleeved or protected and many were in plastic shoe boxes or 3200 count boxes. Sadly no mint or gems as almost all have soft corners and surface issues....Still might grade a few of the better ones and hope for an 8-9 grade.

PSA is pop controlling junk wax hard so expect more 7s and 8s than 9s and 10s
