One doubt, if more than one cell then how flow direction measure.

Hello madam can you explain why you divide 9 boxes while discussing the flow direction

    • @jitudeka3371

In Image statistics nxn matrix is used for demonstrations purpose where n is always an odd number. In this she has taken the minimum i.e 3x3 matrix which equals to 9 cells.

It is not square, it is 2 times the previous value. She made an incorrect statement.

Thanks for your video. For the flow direction, 50 to 20 is the steepest right? and 20 can go in 15. Thanks.

Hi thank you for this video. I do not understand why water is not going in the 20 cell. Cheers :)

does the values in the slope map are the value of elevation or the slope?
If its of elevation, then the water should flow from 50 to 20..

At 7:50, why would the water move to the direction of least slope? Is that an error?

There is a big mistake in the flow direction determination. The direction of flow is determined by the direction of steepest descent, or maximum drop, from each cell.

Mam u told that D8 algorithm directs water to flow in steepest slope and after calculating slope u told that i will go in 50-40 (least slope). if these numbers are elevation data. either u have done some mistake or missed something

  • @ishitabhatnagar8981

Maam shouldnt the flow be in the direction of the maximum slope? In fact, most of the other videos and papers have taken the flow direction along the maximum value of the slope.

First of all she says that highest elevation is 50 but clearly 60 ia going to be higher... Then she says water flows to steepest slope but steepest would be from 50 to 20....Then even going by her logic from 50 to 40 then how on earth does it flow from 40 to 30... Very confused explanation
