Another outstanding performance from Jean Alexander as Hilda standing up to Annie and Billy.
Jean Alexander was the Queen of soaps
If this was today's Corrie, Stan would be the peeping Tom, then he'd end up battered to death in the back alley in a whodunnit, the killer would kill a few more residents then get killed themselves in a huge explosion.
Hahaha...three years and it's only gotten worse on the street...the most dangerous street in Weatherfield...ahhhhh, for the old days onthe street
Exactly.. and why the viewing figures have been slowly declining over the years. It's become absurdly psychotic, just like all the other soaps.
Today's Corrie they'd all be gay, trans and/or not even English.
Sickening, isn't it?
Billy is not a patch on his father jack ..he was a gentleman
I loved how the phone rang when it wasn't connected to the socket
Love how Hilda showed support to her Stan. That Billy Walker was not sympathetic at all. We used to watch this show as youngsters in Christchurch New Zealand. Jean Alexandra is a very gifted actress.🤗🇦🇺🌏
Sadly Jean is gone now ,but never forgotten as the talent she was
Billy is a spoilt brat...vicious bugger.
Yes! Dirty shame that the Brits never gave her a best actress award, or the title “Dame” like others!
FANTASTIC performance by Jean who plays Hilda in the pub
Aww poor stan...love stan and hilda..thank for another great upload .
The scene in the bar may be the best I have ever done by Jean Alexander.
And her drunk scenes!
Stan and Hilda are the greatest soap characters In television history. .
It’s a shame on the Brits that neither got best actor awards or titles such as Dame as others have received!
I’d say one of the greatest. I couldn’t pick just one for the best.
They were good but Ena, Minnie , and Martha can’t be beat
Love the classic episodes
The Ogdens had the best, most trustworthy, and affectionate marriage of anyone else on the street, ever!
I would say the Walkers had the better marriage in all the regards you mentioned moreso than the Ogdens.
@@woohooboy I think you're right! Especially over the long haul.
Affectionately deprived id say suits them
Stan had two fancy women.
Gosh. What happened to Stan is so sad.
Better story's , better actors than today's Corrie . At least the story's were believable and funny
Jean Alexander, a superlative actress. As good, if not better than anything that struts the boards at the RSC.
Love you Hilda ..hate how the Walkers think they are above everyone..and Jerry Booth can slfu as well
As far as vintage corrie moments go they was loads in the 70s i could pick from but this a belter this confrontation in the rovers with hilda especially with billy is an fave of mine class soaps these days have no idea lack of true characters for a start.
Love you hilda ogden
You show them Hilda 😁😁😁
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here 💓
When I feel down I watch that scene with Hilda.
Hilda is really quite a good actress!
One of the best.
My goodness Len was no oil painting, but Benny, urgh!
Rita should have picked Benny. He would have treated her like a queen 👸. The Faircloughs were a toxic couple but totally believable.
That can't be his real accent. It sound realy fake
Hideous and greasy.
Stan made a mistake going looking for the peeping Tom on his own. I know he’s innocent, but he should’ve joined Ray, Jerry, Ken, Billy and Ernest-then there’d be no suspicion.
stan and Hilda, the best couple ever on TV!!
Jack and Vera where good too. And I liked pat and Frank on eastenders. But yer Stan and hilda where a brilliant couple
throw eddie yeats into the mix and they where a force to be recond with .....god knows he was under there roof more times then at his own home...like a son great actors and actress
@@eamonnquigley2125 Did they ever even show him in his house??! I’ve never seen it!
Hilda told them what she thought about them, but must have forgotten, because she still worked for Annie and was in the Rover’s and talking with everyone afterwards!
23:12 Well done Hilda.💪
That was real sad, Hilda doesnt get hey up often., but when it comes to her Stan, watch out.
Go, Hilda, go, Give those hypocrites hell. Hilda has a big mouth, and she finally put it to good use. Billy is a nasty individual. He always looks unkempt and shabby. I could never stand him. Neither him, in real life, nor as an actor.
Wow thats a bit harsh - do you even know him in real life?
Thanks mate
Dame Jean ... Jean Alexander , as was ...
A year from this day I was born.
How did the phone ring when it was not plugged into wall ❔❔❔
Is it just me or were the morals of people worse in the 70s and early 80s? Well, going by Coronation St anyway. There seemed to be a lot more people fooling around even if they were married, and people not caring if someone was married, when they got involved with them. I think it has gotten a bit more conservative now, as strange as that may sound.
I agree. Everyone thinks things were so much better "in their day". They really weren't better. They were alot worse in so many different ways!!
Yes even down to the fact back then no one thought anything about going to the pub and getting bladdered than driving home - most people did it back then where i worked even the women
I'm afraid you are wrong. Have you been living in a cupboard or something? Adultery and promiscuity are higher than they have ever been. Marriages on average barely last ten years. Marriage is declining and multiple partnerships on the increase as boredom and intolerance creep in. The internet has opened the flood gates with adult dating sites, casual hook-up sites for bored husbands and wives, and al manner of pornography and its offshoots, all at the touch of a mouse. Honesty, it's not hard to fathom, it's right in front of everyone's nose. The idea that ethical behaviour is much better these days is simply preposterous
People of today have fewer morals.
It's you.
Benny's comb over for the fucking win!...LOL
The days before tv remote controls!
Poor Stanley!
Rita's legs wow😊
Where did they show her legs??!
Hilda magic
Go Hilda 👍
Glamorous Rita with Benny and Len! 😂🤣
Imagine if Harry (Lucille’s dad) had still been there. I’m assuming the peeping Tom looked in at Lucille...!
You need to watch the buggernation street episode which is this episode dubbed over, it’s hilarious😂😂
Stan blocking the rover khazi
I thought I'd seen them all but they where all from like 2000s. But I didn't know they had them from the 70s?
Rita suits turquoise.
The thing about vigilanties you more often than not find they live thair lives way way worse than the people they are hunting
The club owners phone rang even when it wasn't plugged in?
Why did stan ogden always wear the same clothes
Hilda didn't get Stan's shirt right at the back for tie.
These 3 look like the guilty ones
12:40 someone farts
...sounds like they _shat!_
Annie Walker bent to reach under the counter, and let rip!
If I were Stan and Hilda I would move away from there!
Rita was wow back then
And still a fine looking woman at 120
@williamf4544 Her syrups a bit threadbare now though...
Rita says that if she lives with Bennie, they need to be married. What a hypocrite she is when she was living with a man and kids, without being married! 😂🤣
@12:39 What is that someone farting??? LMAO
Yeah someone made a farting noise.
Yes and they went aaah after. 😂😂😂
I'm glad someone else mentioned that lol
I thought it was a raspberry 😂
Billy walker didn't he play tom king in emmerdale
Yes, he did, for three years. He didn’t much acting at all.
25:41 How was it Stan if NOBODY saw the perpetrator?
Hilda was right about that idiot lot! And Ray is not Stan’s friend! He got him fired! And if I were Hilda and Stan I would never have anything to do with any of that miserable lot! Acting like they are the police!, and like they are the Corrie Street Jury! Ridiculous! But, it’s just a show, so they will have both of them back in the Rover’s! I would never have anything to do with someone who tells me that I’m sick in the head! And how Hilda can have anything to do with them after telling them off, I have no idea, but it’s stupid Corrie, so that explains that! 😂🤣
How can Benny hear the phone ring if it's not plugged in to begin with....otherwise....I love Hilda and Stan!!!!
He's rich, he had two phones.
There's another line in the pantry.
Did someone fart before the 2nd part came on
Ena Sharples
@@williamf4544 😂😂😂
What did Stan do wrong?
Nothing. There was a peeping Tom, and they mistook him for being the one. Some folk get unfairly accused because they're not much in their daily life, but it doesn't make them criminals.
Stan might not of been a peeping tom but he was bone idle
True, being a peeping Tom does take a certain amount of effort.
He had a good job, but idiot Ray got him fired!!
28 years in 1972 until December? Yet in December 1983 they celebrated 40 years together? Am I being thick or does that sound wrong. Surely it should have been 39 years in 1983 in that case? Lol
28 years in August 1972, 29 years in December
you're being thick-yes.
No you're not being thick. It's hard to know when exactly during the year they began. Strange that they would even celebrate 28 years, it's a long time but its not really a milestone! No such thing as a dumb question, just a dumb non-answer that does nothing to clarify the issue and just puts down the person asking the question. That type of person is thick!
@@alanberkeley7282 ..is the right answer
Excuse me?! Rude!@@lilflowergirl16
The blokes are so much better looking in soaps today.
But less masculine.
Who would be daft enough to watch any soaps of today !? 😂
Yep paddling your own canoe can get a bit boring.
Back in the day when men were allowed to stand up for women folk.
Poor Stanley.
