My grandfather bought this game years ago and I watched him play. At the end, he handed me the controller and let me try it out. I ended up being the one beating the game. I was like nine years old at the time and at this point I forget how he set up his squad and such but I fell in love with XCOM. I searched and searched ever since for this game and sometime last year I finally found it. I will never get rid of this game... no matter how old it is, or how many times it ticks me off, or how many times I win or lose. It means too much to me, and this soundtrack gets stuck in my head whenever I load up the game. I will never forget the memories I had while watching him play this. I will always remember that feeling when I saw that final cutscene. And I will never forget this soundtrack. One word - epic.
(Has a soldier run out in the open.) "It's raining death over here!" (Crystallysts spawn from above x3...) I then start to think of a replacement of said Elite soldier.
Worse when you have double tap sniper that misses, says that, then misses again and says, “Shot wide!” Then they proceed to die to the cyrssalid that is point blank to them that was holo-targeted, and had 1 HP left. (This didn’t actually happen, but I’ve had close calls like this)
Silence. No one inside the building... Suddenly you open a door and then the camera shows 3 sectoids staring at you. They freak out, running away, breaking windows and finding cover before the shoot-out begins. This track starts. This, my friends, is X-COM.
Officer: "AAAGGGGGHHHH!!!" Single strong-willed rookie: "He's down!" All other rookies: "No....what's happening?! This isn't right.....THIS ISN'T RIIIIIIIGGGGHT!!!" *Panic shoots teammate* "No, please god, no!!!" *Hunkers down, whimpers* "No, no! I wanna go home! >Shoots Drone >In the Zone >Shoots the other Drone >In the Zone >Crit Headshot a Sectopod. "Cyclops" Ananda Chatterjee, the ace Sniper of the XCom project saves the day yet again.
This is by far my favorite. This music is so enticing and fitting. Even when the game is turn based the music really captures the intensity of the battle.
I dig how it goes back and forth from the over-all theme to that rumbling strings background. To think, this is the first musical artist since Marty O'Donnel to have his very own genre of music. "Surviving Singularity"
Best combat music in the game, always get my shit together when this one kicks in and ruin the aliens to it. This song and the main menu music are the best, closely followed by the first act base music and the awesome tune that kicks in when XCOM HQ gets hit by the aliens
*Exhalt squad pod activation* *zooms in * *Exhalt radio chatter (best sounds ever)* *squad spreads out * Man love it when you fought Exhalt with the soundtrack !
Loved this music in terror preventing missions with rain and lightnings all over the place hearing civilians crying and screaming while the sirene is running. Gives me goose bumps everytime... Best example how an amazing soundtrack can change a game like XCOM.
Zhang as Sniper(Long War), accompanied by 2 MEC: vs sectopod and a sectoid. MEC 1 sucker punched the fucknut deal 10 damage, MEC 2 fired a Particle Cannon, misses, Zhang fired at sectoid, killed it and gets In the Zone buff, fired another one at sectopod dealing 8 damage, double tap triggered, Zhang fired last shot and it crit for 15 damage, killing the fucknut sectopod. short story, Zhang rekt lots and lots of aliens.
in long wars, that was possible with the roulette. i was lucky with my zhang with that. 5 of my commander choice sniper got fucked hardcore. 2 of em dont even have the long range passive thing that let you shoot what other see.
Solaxe Solaxowski You're allowed to have your own opinion. But I really thought Clint Mansell's version felt too much like a sad romantic. The ME 3 soundtrack should have had more synth, a sense of urgency and heroism. It should have felt more epic.

I had a Colonel on hardcore ironman, a magnificent assault who loved to say that. I know it's just a coincidence, but I think she said it WAY more often than the others. Brought down 112 ETs. Killed by two panicking rookies I brought along in order to train them. Sectopod got one, the other two went berserk... one had a plasma rifle and shot her in the face while the other was a sniper who somehow got lucky and blew out her head. RIP.
"Fast Lane": Shot failed to connect! Me: You can't aim through building walls! "Black Widow": *Panicks & one hits Ethereal with sniper rifle* Me: WTF is going on and why do I love it so much?!
There were days when we could just turn off the music cause it started to be annoying... But god damn try that now with this masterpieces... it just never gets old!
This music makes me believe I'm in a Life and Death situation, can't make a wrong move... my heart's pumping Mad! But it's just a game... SNAP OUT OF IT! *Phew*
There are some points in XCOM that make me rage. Like 3 members of my entire squad missing a single Thin Man. Though I do admit, it made the alien look like an Agent from the Matrix as he stood there dodging bullets.
Reminds me of a rookie named Ashley Kelly, who panicked and hid behind a dumpster for two turns while floaters massacred the group. Kelly came to her senses, and made a final stand on some stairs in a damaged building. Left the mission with 6 kills, became my most bad ass character, a sniper call sign "Drifter" and ended up being my volunteer. I love this game.
This is seriously one of the single most epic Combat tracks in this game. I've lost so many great soldiers (in some of the most epic ways, though), and had so many epic moments to this track. I think of it as a very good luck charm.
Reminds me of the first time you encounter the sectoid-leader in the alien ship. All my soldiers died, even that one guy that still lived since the first mission, and only the first sniper ever in the XCOM survived. Osvaldo ´Nightmare` Rodrigez, I salute you!
**Sees Sectopod on Overwatch** **Doesn't have lighting reflexes on soldier** _"Welp, I guess you're dea-"_ **"IT'S RAININ' DEATH OVER HERE!"** _"HOLY FUCK, HOW ARE YOU ALIVE?!"_
Oh god. This was playing while I desperately tried to get to my downed veteran assault trooper that was caught in the open when a stray rocket destroyed his cover with no moves left. The enemies just kept coming, I couldn't clear the area fast enough to make it safe for my medic to stabilize him, and on the the last turn before he bled out, I agonized over my options to this song, and ultimately found none that would allow me to save Felix.
Best played during a Terror Mission with Chryssalid screaming and chasing civilians all over the place while you struggle against your first squad of mutons. Remember Commander, we are watching.
No. Ruiz was already at Lieutenant rank, so he had enough health to not die from poison. I killed at least two packs entirely before the entire squad was massacred, just one turn away from reaching the VIP. I used Ruiz to reach the VIP, moved Ruiz and the VIP up the concealed side of a bus, and dashed the VIP to the skyranger. While this was happening, Ruiz was swarmed by thin men on overwatch, and some even came right up to him and shot him, but miraculously missed.
>playing xcom for first time on ironman classic >all of squad dies but one lone heavy named ernesto ruiz >this song plays as he single handedly saves an abductee, murders several squads of thinmen and sectoids, all with 1hp while poisoned best vidya experience ever
3 guys take reaction shots at 1 enemy, 2 of them land their shots and kill it, the other one misses and says "Target is still in play" No it's not! Your squad mates killed it for you because you have the aim of a blind storm trooper with muscle spasms.
"We destroyed their base, took the hypercom and captured their Commander, that's a win in my books Doctor". So aye, I love this game and I love my Squad.
Was rocking smoothly through classic and then on the alien ship i made a fatal mistake and broke one of the most important rules: -NEVER EVER- reveil on your last move. Result was a Cyberdisc casually threw a grenade at the Power Core all my 3 snipers were chillin out at, killing all 3 instantly, then one of my squadmembers panicked and shot my support who was carriing the medkits down. GAME OVER!
"X-RAYS GOT ME PINNED DOWN!!" "IT'S RAINING DEATH HERE!!" "WATCH THE FLANKS!!" You said it man, this song definitely gives a feeling of urgency and dire straits. Especially when the aliens are shooting at your soldiers w/ high tech plasma weapons, throwing alien grenades, mind controlling your troops, or just good ol' fashioned face-hugged (chrysalids)
I lost quite a few troops these past few weeks, they shall be remembered, i have two majors, three captains and two Lts, its been a long road so far, one of my majors criticaled a muton beserker with two shots with this song on, then in the background my heavies opened up on some moving floaters, god this song made it seem so intense especially in slo mo
Terror missions...they are composed of my team getting pinned by mutons, charged by infected and berzerkers, and finally my men shitting themselves in the face of all of this and then squaring there shoulders and opening a hail of fire to end all of the xeno hordes!
so i was browsing some skyrim mods and found a good music replacer that even covers the civil war battle theme. call me crazy but i used this music for civil war battle theme.
Kakashi Mugen I love Jeremy Soule's ambient music, but he can't make good combat music to save his life. Skyrim has two combat tracks I actually like, the rest are so boring. Which is weird because his work on the Harry Potter games had some good battle themes.
Cant make good combat music? You have obviously never heard the Total Annihilation battle sound tracks. You should go listen to them, you wont be disappointed.
les music de XCOM 1 est génial et surpasse de loin celui du deux avec ses ambiances assez stressante du coup je regrette pas de m être cette music pendant mes combat dans XCOM2
It´s true. When I´m hearing the music while playing I rush myself because I feel tension and adrenaline. When I mute the TV i feel more relaxed and calm.
Fuck I wish Xcom 2 had this song. I would love to lose my max'ed ranger to a fucking berserker on legendary ironman listening to this. whole squad panicked xcept for the spark unit
DAMN! Dude u give me an IDEA! Finally I got the solution how to bring hell for sectopod ! Iam struggling at last level and there is 2 of them and yeah got 2 snipers but forgot that they have scanner... very usefull thing.
I got curious, started listening to this while playing Arkham Origins Predator maps...it kinda made it feel more tense, lol. I'm gona dig up my other strategy games and listen to this, hell I'll find someone to play Risk with and see if it has the same effect, I love this music.
Makes me remember how I had that rookie who hadn't been hurt yet hunker down in full cover and the sectoid one-shots him with a crit from maximum vision range =/
My scout got caught in the corner of a small room, alone and surrounded by three Chrysalids. Everyone else was too far away to get there in time. I sat and listened to this song for a good ten minutes before coming up with the idea of having my heavy blast a hole through the wall to make an escape route. It worked...till next turn. The aliens caught up to her and ripped her apart anyway. ...I hate Chrysalids.
Word of advice; Assault Shotgunners with "Lightening Reflexes" are super badasses that can rush the enemy, even if suppressed. I have two on my team. Aliens on overwatch are SO much easier to deal with.
*Soldier enter in panic*

clever
I can’t stand loud neighbors more than almost anything else on this planet.
However...this is the exception that proves that rule.

*Battle Music starts* Neighbour must be like: "Must have encountered the enemy" "Sounds like losing music..."
"Oh, that is NOT good."
What every XCOM player never wants to hear.

Those rare times "That's XCOM, baby!" works out in your favor.
Kinda.
:P i went on a murder mission on one of the large alien ship crashes with a lone heavy in titan armor every single kill was priceless ^_^
A very Deus Exy piece.
