There was only 2 tuba players in my middle school, and I happened to be the loudest of us 2 as well. Every time our director wanted power behind the sound, he'd look me right in the eyes for a moment with a sharp nod. I went ham everytime, asthma be damned. It's been a while since I last played but the memories are very dear to me.
