  • Suella Braverman takes aim at liberal Tory wets, defends Nigel Farage and apologies for her immigration betrayal in a sit-down interview with GB News's Steven Edginton. She discusses whether she supports mass deportations, why she never sacked a civil servant and whether she would let Nigel Farage join the Tories.

No, no, no. Any politician who claims that the Rwanda scheme would ever have been any sort of deterrent to illegal migration is a liar or a fool. For this reason alone, Reform UK should never accept Ms. Braverman within their ranks. Another good reason is her apparent belief that if she became leader of the Tories, she would bring the remaining rump of it, mostly "one nation wets", around to her way of thinking. My main reaction to this interview, therefore, was to question both her sincerity and her judgment.

      Reform are a nowhere party.
Around a third of the electorate are moderate centrists who vote Labour, Tory and Lib Dem. They are never going to vote Reform as you can imagine. No one wins elections without those voters. We all need to get out of our echo chamber and make peace with the fact that a LOT of the UK are not 100% with us. Only the Tories can win on a ticket that includes all facets of the "right" plus pull in most of that 33% centrist vote.

Tories hide what they are then again when was the last time you saw a Tory talk about faith and family? Which means you aren't a Centre-right party but Centre-Left or a further Left party. I would call that false advertising....
Good rule of thumb in your next election if Tories are running a WEF Davos stooge like Sunak your going to get more of the same. Sorry Suella but Tories are likely finished. Tories are conservative in name only. The future is Reform.

I’ve never voted conservative and have been a labour supporter for years but in the past few elections I’ve not been able to vote labour as I think they have lost their way in many areas and don’t seem to stand for working class, I have to say that our country has lost its way and we now need to be worried for the future under labour and hope that it’s not too late to turn things around.
It’s not going to happen quickly and probably not in my voting lifetime but with people like Suella fighting for our country and Reform standing at our backs we will prevail.

Because the assumption is the two-party system means unless you are Tory or Labour, you will never become a government minister. Since Farage wants to deliver real, radical change for Britain, they assume he will join the Tories to use them as a vehicle to enact his changes. Of course, this assumption completely ignores the reality that the majority of Tory MPs are centre-right or “woke” as the interviewer says. As a result, they would never tolerate Farage in their party. But many journalists assume that Farage might join the Tories and somehow convert it into a copy of Reform UK, but with the external appearance and established name of the Tory party. Anybody with sense can see the chance of that happening is slim to zero. The only option is for Farage to build an entirely new party with Reform UK, that way he doesn’t have to deal with centre-right “woke” MPs in his party. Maybe this means he will struggle to win an election without being one of the two established parties, but this is the only way he can retain his values without compromising for centre-right “woke” MPs.

That’s why Margaret Thatcher was able to make big changes to the economy, because when Nigel Lawson wanted to do something radical as the Chancellor, Margaret Thatcher always backed him 100%.
