She's isn't a reporter, she's a loudspeaker. Even the editors of this video didn't find it intelligible to normalise her audio - she remains loud while the gentleman's voice is 3 levels below hers.
She's been doing this in all her "interviews" - interruption, steering the conversation in a direction where the interviewee's answers are more in line with her understanding instead of the other way round.
Yes...he is brilliant. This lady is a dumb anchor. I would like to hear more of his wisdom. He is great. Truly a legend and history ought to be written along his thoughts. Beautifully articulated. But stupid anchors like this lady spoils it all. I believe it seem to be a standard norm with all damn India media anchors. Hopefully, there could be another proper interview. The world ought to know the truth behind multiple India's policy decisions.

Madam, you were interviewing a gentleman whose thoughts can be accommodated in a book no less. Such a person should be interviewed at length and then the same may be edited for time. It seemed a little rude how you cut him off. Just an observation, otherwise you do reasonably well especially if Modi bashing is on the cards.
It is unfortunate that Print "censored" an important part of the talk on China.

what insider view? he was 23 years old when India got independence and he is telling why Lehru did at that time. Just like Lehru, he was a third rate foreign secretary who gave free passage to anderson after Bhopal tragedy.

As for Aderson's exit after the Bhopal tragedy, it definitely was a dark chapter in our history, but are you or anyone else aware of what pressures were brought upon India by the USA at that time? What compelled our country to let this guy leave? After 9/11 why several Saudis were allowed to leave the USA? What economic and political pressures/compulsions compelled the US administration to allow that? Foreign policy is a game of pragmatism and nationalism doesn't play any role in decision-making unless it benefits the country or sometimes the prevailing regime. Another mistake is to judge past decisions in today's light, the past is past and dwelling in it only unnecessarily hampers current decision making

I am amazed at the clarity of thought of this gentleman. At 95, he is able to switch between multiple topics in the diplomacy timeline with ease.

This interview thows lot of light on many of the controversies raised by today's politicians without knowing the circumstances of those days. Nehru took bold decision single handedly. He had no proper departments manned by experts to assist him as we have today. We have to appreciate Nehru's actions of that time. Most of them were correct and are helping the country today.
Nehru should have retaken POK from Porkistan instead of declaring a truce. If he had done that there would be no need to take the Kashmir issue to the UN which anyway is a venue for gasbags. This diplomat is trying to whitewash the cowardly actions of the very first PM of India who built modern India on weak foundations.

So it was almost 1.25 years of war.
Armies from both sides were in stalemate, no one were progressing on their fronts.

Excellent episode!! I understand the time pressure on the interviewer. But cutting off the gentleman in the middle of topics gave a feel that she was focused more in ensuring that she asked all her pre-prepared questions than listening to what the gentleman had to say. An excellent episode, nevertheless.

I was a bit let down by the host. She asked good questions but just when the gentleman was getting into the thick of things, she cut him off and changed subjects. I wanted to hear more from him. Amazing that he has seen so much of Indian foreign policy in his life time.

Except for perhaps Kashmir, Nehru’s foreign policy was very beneficial for India.
If it were not for the non aligned movement we would have had to sacrifice all our resources to either USA or USSR. Instead we could cooperate with both of them.
Also under Nehru India was at forefront of the pro democratic movement worldwide and ended the Korean War.
Besides if it were not for Nehru Kashmir would be with Pakistan. No matter what narrative BJP created everyone including Sardar Patel did not care if Kashmir went to Pakistan, they were more worried about Hyderabad.

He reminds me of a ststrsman like Henry Kissinger in our midst.! I don't know why I have not seen a person of his srature well versed in our foreign policy until now! I have been very impressed with his authoritative calm voice and knowledge and agree with many of the readers that we like to see him more often and for longer time if of course he agrees at his age .My deepest respects to Mr Rajgotra.
Most Indians are blissfully oblivious of what India was when Jawaharlal Nehru became PM. In any case it was a far better place to live than what exists today.

Sir M K Rasgotra is a great personality who is bridge from newly formed India under PM Shri Nehruji and present India under PM Shri Naredra Modiji .Present people and leaders can learn from his way of explanation how India grownup from past great leaders and how present leaders work for stable and progressive India. And here is an interviewer who is so pre-occupied with her own train of thoughts and rehearsing the next question to be asked in her mind, that she didn't even realise that her questions kept on entering / interrupting incoherently through the conversation.

Nehru had no business to take it to UN He did so only because he was under the influence of Mountbatten as Governor General and Englishman General Boucher as Commander of the Indian Army. after 15th August 1947 ! And why were they on those important/critical positions and Nehru did not have the spine to ask them to get lost ? The reason is that on 15th August 1947 what was achieved by the COngress was a TRANSFER OF POWER AGREEMENT WITH THE BRITISH -- NOT freedom. Google and get informed ! So when Nehru on 15th August 1947 hollered India woke to her freedom etc ---- he was lying. The British left because they had no choice after WW II and damage done to the4 Empire by Hitler and the Naval Mutiny at Bombay docks in February 1946. Lord Wavell -- then Viceroy -- in his then TOP SECRET letter to HMG in the UK advised that it was time to quit with dignity. The letter bearing dateline Simla and dated 13th July 1946 is now available at the British Library online Google and verify what I have said. Also Google and read about Brig General Cariappa's ( later Field Marshal ) Kashmir campaign and see for yourself how Nehru had referred the Kashmir matter to UN when Cariappa and his brave men in uniform were patiently removing the Pakistanis from Kashmir and making significant progress
