The facing down camera viewpoint “holy craps” with view of precipitous drops to each side perfectly matches my memory of being dragged up Crib Goch by my brother in law twenty years ago. I am not an experienced climber and suffice to say I froze half way and we had to take a path down before we ran out of daylight. Your video brings it all back, sweaty palms and all…

I did this ridge the last time in 2003, i was 68. I'd been given a lift by an old friend. The weather forcast was good for the day. Unfortunately on arrival, it got very windy. Being foolish, i carried on ! Back down the miners track. Never been so knackered. One month later,I hiked the North Rim of Grand Canyon, 16 miles down, camped by the river, out the next day. Now 80, only memories. Great watching your vid, thanks. Ps, pity you didn't do a shot up to Crib Goch from the Miners track, really gives it scale.

@RideBikes_Walkplaces many senior moments exist nowadays. My last trip across Crib Goch was in 2012 when I was 68 when i hiked the North Rim down, not 2003. In 2003 was an earlier hike down G Canyon. Since 1994, been down G C five times.

@@brokenjet6134 hi there. I've asked my son in law, Alfie. Apparently there is nothing official in terms of records for crib goch. A few years ago he was one of a number of people using strava and comparing times. So his record was unofficial... and soon overtaken. I can well imagine him being very fast, but, more impressive to me, is that I know he would be very kind and helpful if he came across someone who was struggling. He's a good lad!

Could not do it, I've been holding a pillow and biting my nails praying nothing goes wrong and that you DO NOT fall off. Obviously it went well, because you posted the video. I'm too scared of heights to attempt something that high. A couple of hundred feet is doable with meadow or banks at the sides of the walk...but this, shit no! I would never go up there. I'd freeze and panic. 🙃Think you did amazing to do this if you were scared of heights, but for me THIS a massive NO! C Goch, help yourself, I'll be sticking with the PYG track cheers!🤣

So 1/2500 chance you don’t come home … that’s about the same risk you get killed in a car accident within the next seven years. Which is quite a high risk for an afternoons work.

    • @simonjones2453

Although you're not randomly selected for a plummety death. By accumulating a reasonable amount of experience before attempting it you can do a lot to minimise the personal risk. After seeing some of the other folk attempting exposed scrambles you start to wonder how so few people actually come to grief!
