- Hey everyone!
Ive gotten comments asking me to make a tutorial on how to make a headbase so here it is. Keep in mind I am not and WILL NOT be making any specific species in future tutorials. I am bascially giving you the layout in which I make my bases. You can change anything you like when you make your own fursuit heads. I hope you find this tutorial helpful!

It seems you might save yourself many hours and benefit from some sanding equipment to smooth your foam, instead doing it with scissors. A lot of puppet makers will use a belt sander or just different grades of sandpaper sheets to round out and smooth their foam shapes! Anyway, thanks for the helpful video!
Definitely something I'd like in the future, i don't have the best set up of ventilation for that right now tho. But i enjoy cutting and smoothingđ

@@kibasmoothie4396 itâs ok! Your just learning :)
Your video does two things very well:
1) It explains the thought processes and foundation, not the steps. Too many videos explains the steps of making a fursuit head as if there are hardset rules. Yours offers advice that can be applied anywhere with a little thought and creativity.
2) Youâre cool.
This is seriously inspiring me to try my hand again at fursuit making đ
This is the absolute best tutorial I've seen ever for the base
this is the first tutorial Iâve watched that was actually very helpful with getting started on the muzzle and everything else. I also like how you didnât try to get us viewers to buy custom patterns and whatnot from a store (because for me at least, the reason Iâm making my own fursuit head is cuz Iâm broke af). It was also nice seeing another person of color (Iâm Hispanic), great job and thank you for the video!
I really appreciate how you draw things out directly on the foam. It helps me wrap my head around the drafting/planning process that goes into it a lot more clearly
The fact that youâre watching Markiplier in the background... it lets me know youâre a qualified maker âđ

The most useful advice about muzzles that I've seen in any tutorials, very helpful!
sometimes i look at what im making and and think it wont turn out good, that i should just stop!
The "Hey Friends" at the beginning is keeping me going!
I swear fursuit carving is probably gonna be my favorite out of fursuit making. Many of my friends and family know I LOVE to carve things and watching these kind of videos makes me excited to motivated to make a fursuit base
I am preparing to make my first fursuit (granted, mine is going to be more of a kemono style), and this tutorial gave me a lot of info that I didn't really have before. Thank you so much for uploading this!
I see makers have all the little bits and pieces but I never can figure out how they got there. finally, someone who explains it! thank you!
you are amazing! this tutorial was really helpful. Maybe next video, if you want, you could make a dragon suit! I think that would be rly cool! How did you learn, anyway?
I learned through CZcams as well and kept practicing but making my own charactersđ„°
I wish I had this tutorial when I started fursuit making! The closeups of everything (especially the muzzle) are super useful
This showed me how to make a base that Iâm genuinely proud of. Thank you so so much! Your litterally a queen and deserve so much more â€ïž
I am Korean People. Thanks to your video, I succeeded in making a fursuit. thank you
I realized you suppose to smooth the base cheek first and then and the outer cheek. I will definitely use your technique with smoothing out. Since Iâm making my base by scratch â€ïž
ooh the outer cheek
I really appreciate this! It shows the general shape and layering youâre gonna need, very helpful!
Me looking at all the young furs in the comments: damn didnât know I had friends
Beginner head maker here - A lot of this is paying attention to detail. If there's anything I've learned from researching these things to the bone, it's that there's a pattern that a lot of people follow, and it may differ depending on the maker. Typically the order goes: Bucket base, muzzle, cheeks, eyebrows/forehead. Again, after that, it's a lot of attention to detail. Smooth things out, use references to match the shape as best as you can. Triple check things over to be sure that the shape is right. Also, remember, remember the utmost important thing? Have fun with it. It's something that you're making, and you're doing your best.
Me, who knows very well that I'll never be able to successfully make this:
*Interesting*
Update: Currently making one lmao
hope get it done looking good

This is great! My latest foam head is way too heavy, but the carving isnât too bad. This tutorial should help the weight and speed up the process for me! Thanks đ
Onto my next project because that last one just ainât satisfying me lol
What foam material did you use?
I am honestly impressed with the amount of detail and depth the head had even during the initial stages
I just now watched this, I know I'm very late! This encourages me to try to make fursuit heads when I have the foam to and when I tell my mom
This is by far my favorite base tutorial, you make it so easy to follow both in the video and verbal instructions. Thank you so much! ;w;
Fabulous tutorial!!!! You're a very talented young lady! looking forward to what you make next!
This is very helpful!
I plan on making my own fursuit when I move out of my parent's house, so I am watching tutorials eagerly
This really helped me my fur suits looked horrible and I took you advice and now I have a cute fennec fox for a fursonađ
This is really interesting and well done. This is different from what I have seen but I love it
The feline head turned out amazing I honestly canât wait til Iâm older to commission a head from you your heads are so cute and amazing and I just love your style (hehe your a amazing fursuit maker and a amazing part of are community đ)
Thank you for showing some corrective measures. I really like your base style. Nice!
I've had the supplies to try this out just lying around in my closet for about half a year. Trying new things intimidates me, especially when there are so many skilled artists in this craft. But the knowledge this video gave me makes me feel like I can do it now. I loved the pacing and the detail-oriented walkthrough you provided for each step. The camera angles you showed also made it very easy to follow your method of construction. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for making this!!! Itâs going to help tons! Itâs answered soo many of my fursuit making questions and things Iâve had a hard time with in the past!
It really is Amazing to see the Progress đ
I love how stable and stiff your fur suit bases are! Itâs so awesome đ€©

This is so SMOOTH!! Thank you for this resource! Iâll definitely be using it in the future! :)
I like this tutorial alot! I'll use it when I make another base đ
Thank you very much.
I will try it, this video is so useful and I like these suits it looks cute.
Greetings from Palestine đ”đžđ
subscribing because who knows when ill start making fursuits and might need this more than i do other videos đ
The base muzzle looks like a good cat helmet, I just realized.
Being a furry is easy. Making a fursuit is hard
Brilliant â€â€â€ I love how you outlined the process
I love your approach to muzzles!!
I've looked at a lot of bases to see for feline shapes but a lot of them look like they could be a canine base anyway, just with a slightly shorter muzzle
I don't see that with yours! What would you say are the differences between feline and canine bases because yours look distinctly different and it's amazing
Muzzles are a big hint but it could be noses and ears aswell that show what animal it is
This is really helpful! Ty uwu
Yes! This is the first non-confusing tutorial! I can't wait to get making!
I follow you on tik tok!!! I didnât know you had a CZcams Iâm so happy! As a fellow Christian fur I look up to you so much!!đđ
God the foam for the muzzle when its looks like angel food cake I'm hungry now
when you started with the foam and the sketch it looked like an angry bird XD
Thank you so so much for this video! I needed someone that wasnt using ducttape to help me figure out what I wanna do for my fursuit! Im so glad I found you!
Man, people of color are just so smart! Out of all the tutorials Iâve watched, if the person is of color, itâs so much easier to understand than if a white person is explaining it!
The head is adorable! I love itttt!!! Do u think you can teach us to do a manokit?
one day i would love to work with you
This is so helpful!! Thank you so much for making this- I might use it in the future!
First fursuit head base tut to really help me, Iâve used a pattern for one of my heads and it turned out good, the next time I tried to make one from scratch and it looked awful, I tore that one apart so I could use itâs bucket head base for this tut, Itâs not done , still needs ears and horns but itâs the start of a dragon head base so this was clearly a versatile tutorial and so far it looks so much better than anything Iâve ever made from scratch, thank you đ
omg this help me so much Especially with felines you are a hero! also i follow you on ig ^^

I am making my VERY first fursuit, and have been watching your video's multiple times to make sure I'm doing thingd correctly. I'm currently in the middle of making the bucket head
The foam I use takes about 10 minutes to dry with the hot glue an itâs a pain to have to hold it until itâs done
I'd suggest using pins, it holds it well, But don't use the pins for anything other than fursuit making because they will have glue on them

I did this with a previous headbase I was working on (which turned out really good), but I delayed that project for now because I had the idea of making fursuit heads where they purposefully look like someoneâs first fursuit head (lopsided in shape, asymmetrical, triangle ears and duck shaped snouts, etc.) Coming back to this video for a rewatch because this tutorial make such wonderful headbases and I needed a refresh.
