- I invited Jewel and Elantra to join me in a discussion about Dating in Ghana! I wanted to hear their perspective as diasporans living and traveling in Ghana. They heard about Ghana first time through year of return and that led them to come to Ghana and eventually meet Ghanaian men. Hear it from them about what they think about Ghanaian men and dating in general.

I am now with a man from Ghana and he is amazing and I am from the Caribbean. He will speak his mind respectfully and he knows what he wants in life. One thing I learned is that these Ghanaian men do not try to rush nothing and I love the attention and love I am receiving. They will not tell you they love you without meaning it.

The idea of dating is kinda foreign to Ghanaian cultures. Normally people are looking for a spouse not just sleeping around like people do in America. ( Not to say it doesn't happen in Ghana) If the woman is wife material, (whatever that means) then why waste time?

Most real responsible Ghanaian men are indoors. You can find them in programs, parties, seminars, conferences and churches. You can't find them in night clubs, entertainment centers, social media etc. The Ghanaian women know how to get them. Some of us like indoors and calm life.

Your worth as woman to Ghanaian men is your ability to cook, clean, give birth and not question their movements or decisions. They also expect you to contribute financially if you work. If you do these things perfectly you will have a “successful “ marriage with them.

My advice based on my experience dating Ghanaian men: yes they are unbelievably handsome and their love is sweet but you better run if you dont wanna end up doing everything from bringing home the money, cooking, cleaning, eeeverything while his lazy ass is on the couch all day and please dont adress it because then you are called a dictator, narzisist and bullier!!!

I dont buy into this because ghanaian men always like to provide for the family.They dont really like when a woman is taking their duty and they also help their women if they can. I use myself as an example, i dont take women money because i dont feel good with that. I am very healthy and hard working so i should be providing and not you the woman. I also know how to do any house work like cleaning, cooking , washing and etc. So im always helping in every corner which makes life soo easy and beautiful .
Some Ghanaian men are taking up more responsibilities at home they come to understand that it’s a partnership and they have to help out,so Yh they warming up on that but lazing around naa that’s not how we are trained, we always out there making sure you get the Queen treatment so am surprised to read we lazing around cus that’s not us. 😊
