@@ChienahMk2 u shouldn't hate the game cause of modders but the lazy devoplers and the company that dosent care about there game ... there trying to dumb down the market slowly to so they can maximize profits by putting as little effort as possible into there games while keep the public happy ... it's pathetic do u not see this they don't care about this game at all coding isn't that hard it isn't that hard to fix the bugs it isn't hard to make fun missions and not broken one sided adversary modes and this coming from someone that domiants those said adversary modes there still pure shit tho double down the new added mission this weak literally had no effort put into it just a death match where 2 people play as Franklin and Lamar and they try and fight up to 8 other players its completely lopsided for Franklin's side .... and I'm not saying this cause I lost I played probably about 50 rounds of it and I think I lost one or 2 rounds the whole time the mode is crap and they don't care at all they already had the same exact thing in multiple other adversary modes this was a useless ad ... soon stuff like that is going be big updates if people keep prasing this mind numbingly stupid game

Too many memories, too many hours put in, too much work put in to grinding for money to even be able to have fun in the game. Leave the Servers up forever! Let people who still want to play it on the side so they can still take a break and enjoy the fruits of their old labor while they undertake their new Journey in gta 6 online

That Minecraft music just brings in the feels even stronger at the start. Also gotta love the story mode pause menu theme and those old OSTs like ELC. Also liked how long drive-bys were instead of always ending in explosives.

Early 2014 was the time I had the most fun with the game. Fighting in lobbies was fun, the contact missions were fun, nothing was overpriced (except the Titan maybe) and this was before the Rhino nerf.
Back then, if someone killed you, they usually bested you (either outgunned you or outplayed you) or it was a Tank. Tanks were not invincible (though they were tough) but you felt very strong in them. Jets were very rare and the ones you saw usually weren't very dangerous or were non hostile.
Man those were some good times.
I remember getting into shootouts with randos and all of my friends would freak out when someone called in the Rhino. Good times.

I cried watching this me as a 17 year old this hurts. Been playing this game since I was litterally 9, everyday when my mom was at work all day every day I will watch and comment every December 14th on this video to reminisce
Dude Iâm 18 and I remember my friend got my into this game when it came out my dad didnât like it but he let my friend show it to me and his mom and he realized that it wasnât that bad and he got it for me and boom we played non stop and now here we are on the Xbox one with new friends
I'm 18 too. I remember playing this game every day during summer. I'd call up my friend and I'd play GTA V with him and we'd go around doing drive-bys and random missions to get enough money to buy stuff. I'd remember staying on longer than him and playing with modders who'd give me a bunch of cash and I'd message him about it. My friend never got as lucky as me and never got a cash drop. There was a really kind modder who friended me and helped set up a server so my friend could finally get a cash drop. It was great to be able to splash out with your friend and drive around in luxury cars. Damn, it felt so fun.

Who knew that after 8 years of this being released it would still be one of my favourite games of all time. I still remember 10 year old me getting it for Christmas and playing it the second I put it in my Xbox. So many memories made on old gen, its sad to see it go but it is a good reminder to cherish moments like that while you still can.

I'll always remember classic gta online, I spent dozens of hours after school with some friends, doing missions, beating the heists together and spending it on cars afterwards, playing races and custom deathmatches, etc, we really felt like the bosses of the city honestly, specially after hitting level 100. There was also the glitches to get rare cars or those times when glitched outfits were a new and cool thing. It's sad to see the ps3 and xbox 360 version go away but I'm always going to remember those times with a smile

Man I remember before heists were added one of the best ways to earn money was grinding Rooftop Rumble with friends. Messaging players that were level 75 or higher if they could host a lobby and people being really cool about it. Man....time flies

This reminds me of the old days back when I had just turned 13, had my Xbox 360 for a few years, had GTA V, had just gotten Xbox Live and started playing online. Met a lot of friends from there back in those days, such good times. Gonna miss em.
Man I've been playing on PC for so long I've forgotten the little things like how the UI and map looked. I actually think I like the old map with the colour contrasts for the different areas. I remember when you were limited to a single garage and I was constantly shuffling around my 10 vehicles whenever a new one came out as I always wanted the best one in each class for racing and a couple of fun ones that I used as daily drivers. I had built up about $2 million and I remember thinking to myself that I wouldn't have to grind for money anymore as there was nothing else to spend my money on when they dropped the update allowing multiple garages and all of a sudden I had a reason to grind again and keep earning money to fill those garages. Perpetual loop of grinding and getting more things to spend money on begins. Great times, still good but I truly will miss the simplicity and the true GTA nature of the first gen versions.
I really, truly do love GTA Online. I wouldnt be the person I am today without it. Thanks for making this Ghillie.

I remember when i first logged in in the summer of 2014. The Independence Day update was the newest, and the lobby was chaotic as per usual. However, the chaos of a 2014 online lobby is far different than a chotic lobby now. Zentorno drive-bys were the meta unless you stole a tank or jet.
I remember that my first friendly player was a guy fully decorated in Independence Day attire. Riding in the Liberator monster truck looking like Uncle Sam. He picked me up and drove me to a grassy park in the middle of the city. He put some fireworks on the ground, and we watched as they went up into the sky. It was surreal, and I will never forget it.

Wow watching this brings back memories but feels so wrong for some reason. I don't remember the graphics and everything being SO bad, but I'm obviously use to how things look on the Xbox One. The one thing I hated the most about playing on the 360 was the fact the game would freeze and I'd have to wait for buildings to load in when driving a fast car, that happened all the time.
Eh? Yes the graphics are better on Xbox One, but seriously, the graphics on the 360 look great, they're not bad at all.

That happens with every game. It sometimes feels like games are not really changing that much till you replay old games. Like when I played forza horizon 4 I thought it looked exactly the same as 3. But after a few months I went back to 3 and realized that 4 was way better looking game, graphic wise. I still remember me thinking NFS Prostreet was the most realistic looking game ever. Now Iâm like, why did I ever think that.

That ending made me so sad. I wonder if Rockstar will eventually give us fireworks like those again the next time the Independence Day stuff gets added or any of the rare stuff people either missed out on or lost because they couldn't transfer their character before it was disabled. Whenever a company plans on shutting down the servers for a game they should release an update changing online from server-based to peer-to-peer. It wouldnât be the best but itâd still preserve the game for the people that want to go back and experience it.
This really hit me hard. I remember hitting lvl 50 in this and thinking I was cool. I remembered the zentorno being the best car. I remembered the "apartment of riches in gta online" and if you had that you were rich. After seeing this 2 years later I really am sad that I can't boot this up.

I remember hopping on everyday after class with my friends and hyping ourselves up to making a heist crew even though there were no heists, countless hours spent just screwing around and 1v1 each time were about to get off. Man I'd do anything to relive those experiences again.
I was a freshmen in high school and I remember getting gta and the last of us in the mail the day online dropped ! It was an early birthday present from my brother. Good fucking times. Its crazy how far this shit has come.

This is nostalgic and emotional for me. Back in the day, I was not fortunate enough to get an xbox 360 or a playstation 3. I normally would only be able to watch and play GTA with my cousins (mostly watch). Now I have my own xbox, pc and can play any games I wanted, but look back at it, I like this even more than some broken games nowaday even if I am only able to play it briefly. Games nowaday maybe more beautiful or smoother, but never beat the old school feel of this.

God, those were the days. Getting off school and jumping on GTA with the boys, doing dumb shit and having a laugh, running the same few missions over and over because that was the only way to make money, or getting into chaotic street battles with other players and having a great time. It's crazy to think that this is the same game that I still play after all these years. Still look back on old-school GTA fondly, even though it was a glitchy mess.
Can't wait to see what's to come with 6, I hope Rockstar doesn't disappoint.

I started August 2014 on the ps3, (just before the LTS DLC) I was in grade 7 middle school played with school friends back then EVERY DAY, grinding heists, racing, rooftop rumble, tdms, and fun combat that took actual effort. I've graduated high school in 2019. Work at UPS now. Still play on ps4. Level 546.

There used to be an elaborate glitch with the Pier Ferris wheel that allowed you to lock yourself in first person. I remember Pure Black windows being fully opaque from the inside, much worse than limo. I wonder why they never added that into enhanced edition.

I played it 18 hours straight when I got it on Xbox One!
As a day one player, I wish I was nostalgic for the ps3/360 version. However, me and my friends ended up going to the ps4 version as soon as we could because when the ps4/xbone version came out, Rockstar pretty much stopped caring for it after the heist update. Up until I bought my ps4 in late 2015, that entire year on the ps3 version was plagued with hackers and basically anything you could do with a mod menu in gta 4, you could do in 5. It was an awful experience.
One of my friends had a huge scare where a hacker started deleting all his money and lowering his level back to zero. Luckily he pulled the power cord out of his system before the game could autosave. But the fact that hackers had that much control in gta online in just two years and Rockstar didn't care, was enough to never go back that version of it.
I'LL be honest I didn't think I'd give a shit. But then you added the PlayStation music and GTA pause music and I felt nostalgic and had to watch this video thank you for this piece of art you've made for the O.G GTA V community.

the minecraft music is a well-needed touch...at the time of 7th gen GTA online, i didnt have a console yet (nor was i allowed to play gta lmao), but i was an avid watcher of its online content. the vanoss crew, tc9700, Tmartn (original) to name a few, but i followed it till i'd eventually JOIN it a few years ago. rest well, X360/PS3 servers. gone, but never forgotten.
Looking back at it. This game actually holds up! Good job RockStar, this game is a timeless classic!

I can remember playing story mode on my friends PS3 in like 2013/2014. I didn't have one myself and even if I did, my parents would have never allowed me to buy this game. So I often went to his place and we played there. We both were like 8 or 9 at the time, great memories nonetheless.
It's a weird feeling when consoles that seem like they were brand new not that long ago become just another milestone in our lives. I remember getting home from work, eating some pizza drinking some beer and playing this. It was just so much more fun to me back then. I find myself playing single player games now.
Never played on 360, but PS3 was my jam back in the day. Thank you for this, Ghillie. You really brought back some great memories.

Omfg I just remembered as well there was a camp site just past the lighthouse where u could see the mount gordo ghost and me and my friends would chill there whilst waiting for the ghost then the doomsday upd8 happened and the facility literally replaced the campsite đąđ
Oh my goodness I remember the wall breach glitches very well. When I first found out about them, I was that guy that caused chaos just by hiding in a wall inside of a bridge, the old airport wall breaches. Man this took me back. Thanks for sharing this experience.

There was this one time, A modder joined my session and everyone begged like children for money drops, so the modder griefed the lobby and deranked everyone and sent me to bad sport for 3 years. Luckily, I found another modder, who returned my rank and sent me back to good sport lobbies...I'll never forget that time I was forced into bad sport for a month...It is truly awful and a very unfun place to be.
Unfortunately, I never did a character transfer to next gen, had to start from scratch. Now my old character is dead, while my current one gets to live in Syria simulator. To all the good modders and friends I made on XBOX 360, I raise a glass to you all, you guys earned a special place in my memories. Here's to hoping in the future, rockstar gives us more good updates to keep us players engaged, and hopefully one day, they return the ground fireworks!
anybody else sadder than they thought they would be? lol like even tho gta online still exists, this kinda feels like when we transitioned from the 3D universe to HD. an era, instantly transformed into a whole bunch of memories.
My brother got the game in 2014 I was 9 he was 17 we played together everyday, he passed after a drunk driver hit him just 2 years later in 2016. I still get on his account on 360 and play his old games. Miss you Bradley 1997-2016

Man this was nostalgic, I remember playing with friends and doing heists and getting absolutely rolled on the prison heist & pac standard. Basically we sucked ass and that took us days just getting the bus and I remember doing pac standard and the setup with the savage literally took us like nearly a whole week. Also remember the damn windmill that modders put there right in front of I think eclipse towers garage and destroying cars. Those were the days
The great old days of GTA Online shall always be remembered and praised for. I played it on PS3 and I was ultra rich in the game as well, but due to me and a friend dealing with some trolling punk messing with me and my friend, he somehow did some hack or something to where I was blocked from ever going online in the game and I was stuck on story mode, which ruined my chances of ever going online PS3 ever again. :(
While I'm gonna miss the times I played it in the past, I won't ever forget about it at all.

I can remember the armored trucks that casually driving around Los Santos and the special crates that drop randomly when everybody in the same lobby rushes to get them. Man the old gen vibes

The ground fireworks was the best thing on old gen. I wish they could have added it back on the current gen.. I was watching a youtuber in my young age before starting to play on xbox one s in late 2016. I never had a chance to play GTA Online on xbox 360...

Modders did brought online services to Nintendo Wii before, iâm pretty sure it will happen to GTA Online OLD GEN also.

I played on the PS3 way before the first heist update and loved every minute of it. The Zentorno way one of the best cars in the game and first vehicle where you couldn't shoot through the rear window,my first Super car was the Vacca..great little fast thing for 240K if i remember well...
That game was waaayyy more balanced,no futuristic BS and way less glitches..until the mod menus came.

Yep when it was simple missions and then they finally came out with the heists. I played it again on ps3 up until day before shutdown last month. Kind of hoping with jailbreaks someone will put out something like RP or recreate some kind of online again just for fun
