These Architect-Design Townhouses Utilise Space Efficiently

- Planned out over three levels, these boutique townhouses designed by Pitch AD optimises the small Richmond site to fit in 3-bedrooms, two-bathrooms, open plan living, dining, kitchen and a car space. The townhouses have been designed to minimise circulation space, allowing the maximum efficiency of space.
A core feature of the design is the metal bi-fold screens on the external facade, which helps with natural daylight, as well as give the occupants a chance to control the level of privacy. Timbers are used internally to provide warmth and contrast to the white metal screens.

finally, found a solution to get that natural light from big glass windows and keeping privacy at the same time.
This is wonderful concept! The perforated window panels reminded me of rattans we( Indian) used on the chairs when I was a toddler. As much as I loved that, this idea is really fantastic. The sunlight playing through it was especially nostalgic because I used to love watching shadows play through those holes. What a lovely video through and through!

Loved the perforated by fold shutters. The kitchen and dining area feel a bit too cramped, I like the use of wood as a wall cladding 👍. It's serene and beautiful.

We have something similar to this bifurcal screen in Indian architecture called Jali or latticed windows. But they aren't moveable. This design really changed my outlook of how those can be utilized in modern houses.
I like how Pitch chooses the combination of materials and colors. Love the mood and ambiance. Sunlight and shadow too.
The shadows through the screens meant we rescheduled it our initial shoot date because it was going to be cloudy. We really wanted that sunlight to get that shadow effect, and it shows!

I loved it! I wonder if the metal sheets don't cause the interior to get to warm in a sunny day, since I'm from a tropical county. If tried something like this here, maybe the environment wouldn't be so comfortable due to excessive amount of warmth.
I usually love all the homes on here and I hate being negative...but! No privacy of that bedroom, especially as someone who doesn't always make my bed 😁. And lots of 70's references , the colour palette, the rattan looking screens, the veneer on the walls. But cant please all of the people all the time, still love your channel.

I like the space. its very calming which I suspect has a lot to do with the way they've harnessed the light and its monochrome / beige-y color scheme. It feels like a space in Malibu. I just wish though there some pops of color here and there, to break up the monotony of it all.
What’s great about a home like this is the owners can introduce colour through their personal artwork, cushions, flowers, nic nacs, etc, which can be easily interchangeable. But I agree with what you’ve said.

1:04 Beautiful house & love the metal bifolding screen but having the bedroom so open & close to the pedestrian walkways is scary. Why not have a more private metal screening for the ground floor too.
Agreed!! I cannot relax enough to fall asleep on a ground floor like that.
Exactly what I was going to say. The screens and a taller and thicker fence or swapping the bedroom with the bathroom would be ideal. A lot of light isn't really necessary for a room that you use mostly at night

@@markusneumann146 How i imagine the reasoning: At night you have basically no pedestrians outside and you can use curtains for pricacy, but at daytime you get a nice amount of sunlight. At daytime it will be mostly pedestrians outside, so you want the daytime privacy on the upper floors, away from the pedestrians and with added privacy with the perforated metal sheets.

Clearly many people approve of the currently fashionable perforated metal bifold screens. Internal translucent woven blinds would have given equal privacy and greater flexibility in offering adjustment of one section at a time , vertically or horizontally, while allowing subtle light variation. The screens fail to block out the sun completely, and trying to read with the sun patterns on the book, your face, the floor would be a nightmare.
I like the bifolds, but no privacy in the front bedrooms with the huge windows.

100m2 its not small these days. I love window shutters and the fact he mention about light&shadow game, this first thing i thought when I saw interior. Like the space.
What continent is this on? With global exposure it's really helpful to mention more than the town in which the project is built.

Not sure what he used here, but Hunter Douglas has an architecture line that sells this type of screens
It is made of metal (usually stainless) and coated with paint.
What fridge are they using here with the integration kit?
It's a Fisher & Paykel, in terms of the exact model I'm not sure, but they have a few options.

How are these houses rain resistant?
Homes are sealed with cladding and windows/doors.
The balkony with that sunscreens is like prison....
You can open it, as demonstrated in the video.

really nice house for people who like to show her bedroom to everybody on the street. don't forget to tell the police, that you made extra large windows for random killers in the middle of the night. :D
I think the street facade lacks interest. Not a very friendly neighbor. More should be done with these modern boxes to create "friendly" forms, textures, and landscaping whenever possible. In my opinion. I liked the interior plan and screens a lot.

I excepted more ,design is nice ,but it feels more like a hospital
I like the living room a lot. It feels modern and cozy. And the focal wall there is looking cool - just waiting for some decoration. But the white ac unit right in the middle of it? Are you out of your fucking mind, luv? Next time: Just hide those ugly white boxes. Built it in. Hide it. I don´t know how - you are the architect.
