Teenage Angst lyrics:
Shine the headlight, straight into my eye
Like the roadkill, I'm paralysed
You see through my disguise
At the drive-in, double feature
Pull the lever, break the fever
And say your last goodbye
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever-ever goes my way
One fluid gesture, like stepping back in time
Trapped in amber, petrified
And still not satisfied
Airs and social graces, elocution so divine
I'll stick to my needle, and my favourite waste of time
Both spineless and sublime
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever-ever goes my way - Hudba
loved this song at 15 still loving it at 35 x
Same age as you, 20 years ago wow!
that makes 3 of us then :)
I do believe it's now 4
I wish 5... Am 44 arrggghhhh!
Sarah Anderson 21 - 41 for me, best time to be alive, was mid 90s,
The first album and probably the best one. So intense...
Fantastic Drum Sound.
Been about a week since I found them and I am certifiably obsessed.
Now 25 years old and just as good 👍
My favourite waste of time, both spineless and sublime. Such a beautiful and appropriate lyric for a lot of us.
39 years old and I'm still covering this on acoustic open mic nights :)
44 as of 2023
This song Lost him identiity in acoustic... Sorry for My English
Shine the headlight, straight into my eyes
Like the roadkill, I'm paralysed
You see through my disguise
At the drive-in, double feature,
Pull the lever, break the fever
And say your last goodbyes
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever, ever goes my way
One fluid gesture, like stepping back in time
Trapped in amber, petrified
And still not satisfied
Airs and social graces, elocution so divine
I'll stick to my needle, and my favourite waste of time,
Both spineless and sublime
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever, ever goes my way
Best Placebo song ever ever.
placebo are underrated if you ask me which of course you didn't
Admiral Ackbar yes.....
Underrated? They are one of the most famous bands in the world. You can find CDs even in my country, which is a hard thing to say for MANY well-known bands.
Deviantel they deserve more
How much more? :P To be listened to by aliens too?
Deviantel they are not that famous c'mon
Way too underrated.
+get out Why tho?
Because Placebo sings a lot about drug abuse.
Yeah
One of the best Rock albums last 20 so years
This song encapsulates how I felt at 17. I remember my mom took me to a mall and I bought the CD that also came with an extra 2 titles (Can't remember the songs' names). This spoke to me in a very deep way and it still does. The whole album is great.
"Since I was born I started to decay. Now nothing ever goes my way." At age 40 I can subscribe to that. Some of us were born losers to justify winners
This is poetic af.
@@Nekorz Yes but also consider these lyrics from Black Sabbath's "Wheels of confusion":
So I found that life is just a game
But you know there's never been a winner
Try your hardest, you'll still be a loser
The world will still be turning when you're gone
@@moussetache1815 I'm not sure about that, Mousse Tache.
Whence you feel any emotion of worth, value or significance?
Congratulations on winning.
@@Nekorz winning is overrated: consider that you alone beat all the billions of potential souls to the ovum of your mother. But what use is it to you now?
I came here to remind you of this song, and now you're 44
Best song bout coming of age, ever.
One of my fav album covers of all time

midzia!
its ok
Placebo had fucking good instrumental work, not a fan of molko, but his singing fits so perfectly with the music...for sure, placebo was a solid rock band,i remember discoverd them with the M6 clips in 🇨🇵before go to school , with the Famous bitter end of course ,memories...
Come home was not the good one for me because of the draft impression but this one makes me feel more closer to the authenticity of this band ;)
Placebo frontman Brian Molko claimed that this deceptively cheerful-sounding tune “is about the intense emotions you feel as a teenager, the way you have a tendency to close yourself a bit, create your own little world. You’re an adult trapped in a kid’s body - you want to break out but everyone still treats you as a kid.”
In the chorus, Brian Molko sings, “Since I was born, I started to decay.” He explained the inspiration behind such a morbid line : “Well, that was something my mother said to me. She was talking about aging, wrinkling, skin drying up and stuff. This was when I was 14. She said that as soon as you pop out of the womb, you start to deteriorate. I actually found her words quite disturbing, but y’know, she’s a religious kind of person.”
In 1996, Molko stated : “When I was a teenager, I felt things in more passionate ways, I’ve gone through rebellion phases. I was feeling depressed, I felt like the world was about to collapse. A sort of alienation towards parents, a rebellion against what they wanted me to become, against growing, going through this kind of changes. My emotions were going in many directions because physically, I was becoming an adult. I was longing for it, but I was still dealt with as a child. Art and creativity were minor things, unknown in my family. That’s surely for that reason I reacted so violently. I became the ugly duckling : my father wanted me to become a businessman, and my mother wanted me to be a saint. Finally, I satisfied none of them. At this age, music can represent many things, be the last emergency exit. Playing guitar was a sort of outlet to my family troubles, to authority. My parents didn’t contribute at all to what I am today and that’s marvellous. I am here today only by myself. I need to have success, very selfishly, to refute all the people who thought I would not go far in life, to show it to the people who were better than me at school, my rivals in every way, my parents.” 💙🎶💜
