Teenage Angst lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Shine the headlight, straight into my eye
Like the roadkill, I'm paralysed
You see through my disguise
At the drive-in, double feature
Pull the lever, break the fever
And say your last goodbye
[Chorus]
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever-ever goes my way
[Verse 2]
One fluid gesture, like stepping back in time
Trapped in amber, petrified
And still not satisfied
Airs and social graces, elocution so divine
I'll stick to my needle, and my favorite waste of time
Both spineless and sublime
[Chorus]
Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever-ever goes my way - Hudba
18 yrs old: full of angst
40 yrs old: still full of angst
Totally relate.
53.. More angst than ever!!!!!
Yeah same here
I'm 53 and my angst has cobwebs now... But it's still there, never the less.....
So true
Listening to Placebo on good headphones is the purest thing ever
Teodora Stojšić agree
Pure morning.
Teodora Stojšić Im doing that now!
With all the lights off so it's pitch black and there's only the music.
*YES*
2020 and I'm listening during quarantine vibe

A song that defines a whole group of people, no matter when. Teenagers will always love this song.
Gen z teen here I agree
of course
Teenagers??? 😂😂😂
@@helgazubiz1750 Yep. This was a song for teenagers.
Fuck teenagers. I will always love this song. That was the initial ignition back in the nineties. First time ever heard it in a skate video „Quest for the Holy Rail“. Hooked, placebo fan. Debut album is unrivaled. Very special vibes only this album can deliver.

Wow..how time flies. The "teens" in this video are most likely all in their mid to late 30s now.
I hear they all have Middle-Age Angst.
@enuma elish you weren't a teen then. you don't count :')
40's
I was 16 when this was released, I'll be 40 this summer...
I used to love this track back then and to this day reminds me of the nervous/excited anticipation I felt before heading out for an evening of mischief.
Peace Dweller heck am 60 end of this year oops
this band will always have a special place in my heart
Same here, especially this early stuff.
One of the greatest debut albums of all-time.
Scuffy P 100% agree!! Still listen to it weekly well over 20 years later 😍
Albums* Never mind the debut bit!
I like this album and I love placebo but for me my favorite album's by them are sleeping with ghost's and meds. In term's of greatest debut album's I think Eternal Nightmare by Violence has got to be up there. It's real good for a debut :)
Sure thing
I agree 🙂. Without you I'm nothing is a masterpiece. Other albums came close (Placebo, Black market music and Sleeping with ghosts. Never let me go is great. Meds very good. Battle for the sun and Loud like love good.
I was 16 when this was released and it resonated with me hard. 26 years later I just rediscovered this and I'm instantly transported back.
so your 42 now
Hate to break it to you buddy but you're an old man
Since I was born I started to decay
Me too.....
+Spirit Molecule slightly morbid way of looking at life, but it's true.
no no, you start decaying after 25-30 years old
I`m gonna get that line as a tattoo
"ITS NOT A PHASE MOOOOOOOMMM"
Beast of a song. Don't miss the teenage angst. Life is sweeter in your 40's.
That’s actually refreshing to hear.
No way, my teenage and twenties were far and away my greatest most fun times. This was back in the 90s with Placebo adding a big part to soundtrack.
Personally my 40’s have been the worst decade of my life.
D'fuk are you talking about. 40s are shite.
@@broken12367 she take the kids? same here
Since I was born I started to Decay. What a lyric.
i still think this is the best song placebo ever wrote. it's so intense, it reaches your heart, it makes want to you cry desperately, but most important of all, it makes you THINK.
I still have teen angst and I'm nearly 40
I'm 23 and I'm more angsty now than when I was a teenager. Glad to know I'm not alone here
@@ziggyprice4780 I'm almost 30, and absolutely the same thing.
I’m 29 and life is great after going through hell and back, not much angst left here except sometimes for socio political stuff or the absurdities of existence and life in general. Here’s a nugget: Death anxiety propels everything you can think of.
Same, a big fan of these guys since I was16, now I’m 37. The rage is still there.
The 90s we're freer cooler wilder deeper times. Beautiful track.
This song came out 6 months before i was born. And still, this song helped me go through my teenage years ! Placebo is one of the best band to ever exist.
Jesus Christ the effect this had on me at the time and still does.
_"Since I was born I started to decay. Now nothing ever ever goes my.... way"_
Listened to and watched this for the first time when I was 13. I'm 28 now and this was a huge part of my development as a person. Placebo is timeless

Raeghar Dexter Valencia thanks 👏🏻❤️
@@Sebadoh1994 placebo are an exelkent band
Placebo, the most important band possibly ever. You taught me so much just by existing as who you are. It was rare as fuck back then and is as important now as ever. Thank you for everything you taught me
The true sign of an amazing band - a song released in 1997 holds up this well 16 years later and you don't hear people talking about how it sounds like "their older stuff."
Brian is so pretty.
i love this band i love love love this band
Same. They are so good. Every song has a different sorta vibe to it in some way.
exactly my thoughts watching this video
same:)
thanks for the input danny elfman
this song got me through the hell i had at high school. its an anthem.
You're so pretty
It's getting me through highschool right now...
Placebo are the most underrated band to ever exist.
So many memories of that time as a teen. 40 now and it still sounds just as good as back then
„Nothing ever ever goes my way“ is the most teenage thing ever
*most cliche sounding teenage thing ever,
Yeah every teenager feels that as some point, where your finding you place in life especially nowadays generations, looking around , obviously having crushes on the hottest people in school on media, and trying to find your place in the looks totem pole
Finding friends to confide in about stuff and hoping your seen for who you really are
I love the way he loves his head the first few seconds in the video, so bored and tired and exhausted of it all
Lowest/ slowest frequency red energy
And the lyrics link together all cliche teenagers that fee that way at one point , and clearly the ones who didn’t make it through as unscathed as others ,
Robert Schultzberg is an awesome drummer. I really dig the way he plays on Placebo's first LP.
One of the best videos EVER... This was perfect for me as a teenager ... 90s ❤️
+Charlotte Chamberlin You know I believe Brian mentioned on their MV collection he didn't like this video, but i've always like it
I still have this on VHS, after spending hours in front of the TV waiting to hit record on Saturday or Sunday morning.
I wish this song was longer every time I listen to it.
When music required talent. ❤️
Still dose you just need to look for it
I'd just passed my driving test when the album came out. From the first riff, I'm taken back to being behind the wheel of my old blue Astra, filled with New Car Scent air fresheners, window down, elbow out, listening to this song in particular (as a very angsty teenager). If I could go back there now, I would do it in a second. I would make so many different choices, with the wisdom that life and bitter experience brings, but this song is a beautiful window into days when my eyes were still bright with hope. I'll never stop listening.
Yeah. 2021. My favorite band.
Fans who still listen to Placebo in 2019, raise their hands.
My inner sad girl will never die lol
2034 and still listening
since i was born i started to decay yeeeeeah
Till the end of my days!

25 years omg I miss those days and I cry...
Best. Song. Ever.
This band can never get old.
Simplistic but fucking awesome! the song and the vid capture real, honest teenage angst better then so many others who have tried.
7 years ago. You still there?
This is music. Real music!
YASSSS SO TRUE! Pop music isnt even music anymore, it's like KING 810 but really bad. So thats exactly why I turned to rock, grunge and punk. R.I.P Kurt Cobain, A GRUNGE LEGEND!
I've always loved this video: used it in teaching English too when looking at (e)utopias and dystopias and developing creative writing using a cuboid/trapped inside a cuboid prompt. The piano version is immense, as well.
So who else has been a fan since Nancy Boy? I first heard it at my local pub and haven't stopped listening to Placebo since. Although I do think they were better in their first two albums...
Same here first heard Nancy boy on the radio in the 90s and loved em ever since.
Geez I'm old I remember when this song had just came out. Many many years ago 🤦♂️ great song
This song can be played fast, this song can be played slow, this song can be re-invented and played acoustic two decades after it was written - it still sounds great. The only thing Placebo have not done to it yet - translating it to French! :) Would be great too, I'm sure XD
May be a good try, sure.
I've loved this band for 20 years. ❤️
Both spineless and sublime
young me: what a banger
old me: still a banger
I think this is my fav music by them. The sound is so unique on this one.
This song is everything omfg
I remember lying in the car with my at that time girlfriend and this tune popped out of the radio… I was literally blown away ever since. Love Placebo!
It's just brilliant song after brilliant song with these boys. I think the drummer is fabulous!
I finally got to see them recently, my best friend didn't make it with me, I will always miss you Ryuu and I'm so glad I got to see them at last for us
I've never heard of this band and thank the Lord I finally did
0:45 omg I love this face :D
me toooo!
I love his face always :) And his voice OMG.
what a good memory
Welcome new listeners! Got 20 years of placebo and no regrets. Their live shows are amazing.
the best music a teenager could've ever listen to on his time... god i miss being stupid...
I love these comments, for me it's impossible to not be instantly transported back to being 13-17 and Placebo accompanying and often intensifying so many of the crazy experiences I had. At 31, this song still means so much to me and Placebo as a whole, and I'm sure it's the same for the people I grew up with. Such powerful music!
Wow, it's crazy how we all feel the same 100 %
What a band.
They seriously should've stayed like this forever.
Meds was their last decent record. everything since has been terrible. those first few albums though were truly phenomenal.
Absolutley right! both. "Meds" was theyr'e last decent album. Now they becoming worse each time.
Does everyone think this? Sorry I am new to music. (:
MarbleGray I dunno I mean the newer albums sound different..I don't exactly hate them buy it's not the same as the older stuff
Ah, okay then. Thank you! I am a recent addition to the music land, I really didn't listen to any before, you know, at all.. So I am learning new things! (:
I wish this song was a couple of minutes longer to save me hitting repeat. :) It's just perfect, even now I'm 34.
my thoughts exactly
Woah this hit me in the memories. I feel so old now
+frozensky86 Better than being hit in the mammaries.... :p
+Paul Franklin gaaaaah. haha
I am not old. I was born in 85. Please dont say that.
Me too
my dad always plays this since he was in college song i love it too now :)
this song is so nostalgic
I didn't know this band ....they are really a great band mainly this song that I loveeeeeee
I miss the 90s
how's the bear ?
Good times. :')
Same
Ma jeunesse. My youth...
I've always loved this band and I still do.
Having been a fan since around '98 as well, I think I've only ever had one or two friends who liked their music, and quite a few who hated it. So I stopped trying to play it around people and it has always been something that had special meaning for me and did not need anyone else's approval. It helped prepare me for putting less importance on other people's disapproval later in life, as I have always had eclectic interests that often others find strange/annoying.
Let's rename this song to *Adult Angst*
That name is more accurate nowadays.
This still remains one of their best songs ever!!!
I’m 42 now and still listen to them and started with this song in the early 90’s! Love u guys so much!!! I think I was around 13-14
gracias placebo por tanta buena musica,, saludos de Chile
Sometimes I forget just how great this band really are. A beautiful song and video. From a boy who was 2 years old when this was released, I'm sorry for the pop music of my generation.
Listening on 2022 🌹
Drums are awesome !!!!
They must've had so much fun while shooting this vid back in the day.
It was so long ago!
: )
Placebo best band ever
Guitars: banger
Bass: banger
Drums: banger
Vocals: banger

More like Perfection.
Some tunes instantly transport you back at the times they were released. This is one of them for me :)
really love this fkn song
me encanta el video, la letra, la melodía, es perfecta :)
This song & its video perfectly encapsulate the hardship that is growing up, especially the teenage years.
Pure Classic Placebo ... just fantastic ...

I woke up this morning with this song playing very loudly in my head. Why? I don't know. Haven't heard it in years. Makes me wonder what else is going on in there.
This band is just so amazing❤️
memories.....
I accidentally discovered that this song was released on 20.01.1997 when I decided to aleatory listen to it today, and today is 20.01.2020.
I just went back as I saw the new picture. How time flies...😍
Ugh, my heart. This is making me so nostalgic.

2023, these guys are getting a second wind. Most deserved.
Not a teenager anymore but I love this song
