Good shit. I have a kdx200 c2, super similar bike and situation. Wish I got to see you do the dremel work, but I’ve used one enough to figure it out. Thanks
thank you soo much i got a 94/ 95? kdx and the kick starter did nothing i pushed it down and it wouldnt catch at all pulled it apart but the gear assembly looks all brand new, i was thinking maybe the kicker fell out a bit as it came out on its own i pushed it in but i couldnt work out how much tension on that spring. like i said thank you so much answered everything
what is the bolt called that connects the actual kickstarter to the gear drive shaft thingy with the ridges in it that aligns with the kickstarter ridges?
I know this was a long time ago but do you recall if you needed to pull the water pump and the clutch cover or did you just pull that side case cover off?
I have a 1994 kx250 and it feels like it's stripped, I have to slowly get it to Catch then she's fine. And may I ask how much did u pay as Iv heard about 400$ ?!?!?!?? To get a new one and fix the problem
when i pull it around the shaft put in hole put everything back on kicked it one time spring popped out the hole did same thing 4 more times the i pulled clutch basket grabbed spring went past hole and around the shaft one time then put in hole put everything back pushed kicker down it popped again
How in the world did you get that out without removing the clutch basket? I got it lined up between the teeth and it wouldn’t come out. Manual even says to remove clutch. This is on a 2000 kx500 looks similar to this setup.
what is the gear called on the right side of the clutch plates? I'm trying to find out what it is because my kickstart on my 1985 cr 125 is locked up but I know it's not seized because I just rebuilt the top end
Hi I have a 2000 Kawasaki KX100 and my kickstart skips the first knotch when kicking but if I kick it slow it catches any idea of what the problem could be thanks Mat
I have the same damn problem. ik you posted your comment 10 months ago, and probably have it fixed. anyways, I am going to try and replace my spring. I hope this works. and did you get your bike fixed yet?
On mine i had the same problem mine is a 1985 and i put it back together and when i push down on thw kicker it grinds on the case somewhere or grinds on something, do you have any tips?
Not sure. Check to see it is pushed in all the way. Did you set the spring into the whole for the return? If It kicks down and comes up by itself, you Have it in right.
Thanks for the video. i sanded down my gears by running them over a coarse piece if sandpaper on a flat surface. Works perfectly now
Cool. that should get you by for a while.
Ride on!!!!
Just did this on mine....huge thank you. I was struggling with this damn thing.

You can take the whole side cover and clutch cover out together

what is the plastic piece called on the rebond spring
Hopefully it is the same on my 1990 kx500. Sometimes the kick starter doesn’t grab.
What tools are required for this procedure? I need to repair a ratchet

how many times do you go around the kick start shaft before pushing in the hole
about halfway to 3/4 . depends on how tight your spring is.
