ngl i was only watching this drama for these two characters. this is the only time i literally liked the 'villains' more than the main characters lmao
but man what interesting characters dude. especially hanseo...i've had a week to process his dead and i'm still in mourning ngl i didn't really add his death in here bc it still makes me way too sad lmao
he grew SO much on me throughout the drama and he outshone everyone else imo. the way kwak dongyeon portrayed his character and developement is nothing short of masterful. even when he was being a brat in those first few eps, i couldn't dislike him. and then him growing into such an amazing and multi-layered character that turned into an instant fan favorite? major props, honestly.
but let's be real, han seo is literally the definition of 'deserved better'. i suppose that if he had to die, i like that he did so doing something good, i just don't like the was it was executed at all (vincenzo just sitting there doing absolutely nothing while he was fighting for his life??)
i guess we should've known he would when he said that he had vincenzo to protect him in ep 19. that was some foreshadowing right there lol
and you know me, we can't talk about a drama without discussing the psychopath. i really can't help but wonder if part of han seok didn't actually want to kill his brother? after fuming in that jail cell for so long it really did seem like han seok was absolutely set on murdering him in his office, but then hesitated and just ended up knocking him out and impulsively taking him over to his house. and even after that he kept giving him chances as well, aiming for the arm when han seo attacked him at first (also seemingly not shooting him before accidentally shooting chaeyoung?) and even after that, telling him to let go of the gun when they were struggling with it. until eventually han seo sealed his own faith by telling him he shouldn't have been born and pushing him over the edge. i really wonder if he wouldn't have shot if han seo hadn't said what he said?

edit: i just noticed this and had to make everyone aware of the the absolute god tier acting at 1:40 from taecyeon, the way he made hanseok briefly grin so fucking creepily at the sight of hanseo's panic before quickly putting on his facade of anger again. he's so incredibly holy shit??

Ig they obviously couldn’t hold a funeral cuz no one was able to attend vincenzo was up for his revenge he cared for han seo not before but at the end when he was finally able to trust him he told him to go to a safe place and not use him to complete his revenge but to keep han seo safe was his priority but han seo wanted to be there for him he couldn’t go visit his grave nor can he hold a funeral bcs of his criminal record he couldn’t stay in korea for long but when he remembered han seo before k*illing han seok told him to say sorry to his bro before ki*lling him and took his watch like how jang han seok used to do it shows that he didn’t forgot him it left a impression that even if he couldn’t do anything for han seo he still stays in his heart and like cha young said he blamed himself for everything that happened as well as han seo's death he still care for him and regret it but he didn’t got much time to show him and It's not like making the main lead kiss was more important before the kiss they both used to hide their feeling even while saying goodbye to each other and in the postcards they called each other friends but at the end vincenzo didn’t wanted to lost his chance and kissed him to show how much he misses her and proved that he treated their time together as a relationship not just friendship by saying mafias Don't break up when they love this proves he treated their time as a relationship and it was important to show and give it a complete ending writers left little clues for every question we have and hide the answer in just one single ep is just so artistic and beautiful they really did a good job and didn’t left any charecter behind vincenzo's ending seemed perfect for me

i'm suffering.. honestly i know their relationship was cruel.. but man was i invested in the jang brothers their story. i would love to see a spinoff about the two.. just a little backstory, they were both such interesting characters on their own. idk i just wish there was more to their storyline really
couldn't agree more!! these two blew it out of the park and eventually i was literally only watching to see how their storyline would end! (heart been broke so many times lol)

To me these two have the most complex relationship in the show... But of course the writers didn't show more about them... I guess the series would be much more darker if they did (which would be amazing but I guess that's not what they were looking for) thank you so much for the video 💕

This. I'm still hoping for a spin off on them. They gave Geumga plaza residents so much more screen time, which was nice but gosh, Babel group was so underused. I started watching for the main lead, stayed because Wusang and Babel made the show compelling for me.

im late but i just started watching this last week bc i was procrastinating on my assignments. both are such good actors, i genuinely didnt have the thought of junwoo being hanseok crossed my mind bc his bubbly personality feels real (though after looking up, i found out its bc taec himself is like that XD). i watched some cast videos after i finished the show and ngl it took a while to stop flinching everytime he laughs bc the image of hanseok is imprinted in my brain (i knew him as an idol but didnt expect him to be such a good actor damn). hanseok is such a psycho but taec carried the character so well i kept wishing to see him appear although most of his scenes involved abuse and violence lmao.
as for hanseo, i didn't think much of him at first but gradually liked him and he became my fave character. he's so cute when he's trying his best to convine vincenzo and the gang that he's on their side haha and all he wanted is just some love, his mother is gone, his dad is literally killed by his own brother, and the brother who's the only family he had left is abusive and a psycho. i rarely watch kdramas so this is my first time seeing kwak and he nailed the chara perfectly. he doesnt have real friends and al the ppl around him only needs smth from him. i would giggle whenever hanseo appears bc as i mentioned he's so cute haha i was so upset when he still ended up dying :/ its too illogical to me, why didn't vin help him when he hit hanseok and got the psycho on the floor?? surely they could leave the fl for a while even if tied to fight the villain. also chayoung is shot on the shoulder, she wont die if they could work tgt and take down hanseok before getting ambulance. hanseo's happiness was so short-lived im angry aaaa not to mention it's almost as if he didnt exist after he died T_T
i read your desc, i think hanseok didn't really plan to kill his brother. as he said, they only have each other now. i feel like he still has 1% humanity inside him lol. when hanseo shot him at the forest he didnt lose consciousness right away and could have shot hanseo back but he didnt. and as you said, he gave hanseo too many chances. he went to hanseo right away after prison but didnt shoot him and instead got him unconscious. even when hanseo attacked him, he just shot the arm and didnt continue to shoot him after hanseo fell down. it was a missed opportunity really, bc if he really wanted to kill his brother he could just shoot him at that time when the latter was down on the floor with no defense. not to mention his eyes were glassy when he finally shot hanseo. what hanseo said probably sent him to the edge. i think chayoung said smth similar to him before but he barely reacted at that time so maybe he was hurt this time bc its his who said such things to him. also he once mentioned he wanted hanseo to be that one scammer elizabeth smth or whatever (i dont remember the name). he said he will support hanseo. this is just my interpretation but i think it means hanseok wanted hanseo to be crooked like him and he will cover for the little brother if he make any mistakes along the way-- meaning the future he wanted have hanseo who is alive. hanseo was angry and said the person is in prison but let's remember that in this show, prison is considered as a 'safe place'. again, this is just what i THINK he mean but maybe hanseok was saying hanseo will be safe even if he failed to be evil.
2:28 -- I just keep replaying this part over and over. Your edits are so emotional and beautiful and full of depth, I can rewatch them all endlessly! This has to be my favourite so far, you portrayed their complex relationship so beautifully. They’re both such unique and tragic characters!!!! I wish we had more backstory. I didn't watch it but every time my moots were watching it, they talked about the fact he deserves better.. Kwak Dong Yeon is excellent as usual 🤘 For the villains, him and Kim Yeo Jin are very interesting :) Another good fmv, I feel bad for him :(

I have so many questions when it comes to the Jang brothers. But first, Taec and Kwak Dong-yeon killed their scenes. They were so good, it had me looking both of them up and going back to watch any drama they were in (haven't watched kdrama in over a decade and wasn't familiar with kpop). Now I'm a huge fan of both
The biggest question I wish I could ask the writer and the actors (because sometimes the actors understand the character more) is if in some twisted way, Han-seo was more than willing to die by his brother's hand? Yes he wanted to save Vincenzo (who honestly barely seemed to care at the end) but a part of me just keeps thinking "if Han-seo dies, he prefers it to be at his brother's hand and he has no interest in killing Han-seok with his own hands." Maybe not.

yess they both did so well!! i've only ever watched them both as very conventional 'good guys' so for me it was super refreshing to see them as something that isn't that. it's also so clear they gave their all for these roles! and i'm glad they're getting you back into watching kdramas!
i actually agree with you. like, i honestly think hanseok would've probably let hanseo live if he hadn't said that he never should've been born. i think hanseo just believed that he was meant to die by his brother's hand and saw no other way given their situating and thus sealed his own 'faith' by angering his brother. if he really didn't want to die/sacrifice himself, he could've easily kept his mouth shut the moment hanseok had the upperhand imo
(also i'm forever angry abt vincenzo sitting there uselessly and doing absolute nothING??)

They're great actors and I hope to see them in a drama together again. I read an interview where I think KDY said he had to make sure he wasn't too close to Taec while playing his role since his character hates his brother but it seemed like it was difficult since Taec was just so friendly and fun to be around. Gosh I wish we had more behind the scenes at least, I don't think I'll ever be over the Jang bros

i don't think he ever specified it specifically, but i imagine it was because hanseo had the task of pretending he was Babel's big shot CEO, when hanseok thought he was too stupid to even do that.
I read a fanfic called "difficult to survive". That story of jang brothers are in line with my thoughts about them.

i've been thinking abt this for like a week, but somehow i can't think of anything that even closely resembles this one?? the only drama that has THIS much character development (even for its villains) is arthdal chronicles, but other than that and having song joongki in it these dramas are nothing alike lol
