My 9250 group set does not go small and small . When i put front in small ring it changes the rear gear one gear up. How do I measure correct. Chain length from there?
Is this a Di2 setup? with a 50/34 front chainset? If so, this is a 'design feature' of Shimanos' Etube software. It's intended to prevent you from fully crosschainign small/small.
Is the reason for minus 1 link to accommodate for the master link that gets inserted?

There would be a way to turn this auto chain alignment off on di2.
