This diving site was covered recently by another channel. You did not make it very clear that the reason his stomach burst is because he inadvertently sallowed air when the assistaning diver put the regulator into his mouth.
Divers often swallow a bit of air. The symptoms of which are self limiting hence why Don reported he immediately tried to belch but couldn’t. Even initially doctors got it wrong as he was sent to Brooke army medical into a chamber. They thought he had air trapped in his lungs which would make sense. Only an X-ray could have confirmed his peritonitis which is a coin flip in lethality if to the point of ruptured GI which is what happened to Don. So I don’t really blame him for not going into detail. Until you follow the notes of the investigation, the hospital information released as apart of the reporting from all that time ago, and some of Don’s scattered anecdotes it’s all kind of messy and doesn’t really matter. Could have also something to do with the amount of water he purposefully inhaled and the little we still know about what he described as “a lurch” which truly is significantly more violent than either video attempts to explain. It’s the pinnacle of fight or flight. My guess is there’s something there too as I don’t thing enough air can be ingested the method the doctors described and they too were a bit skeptical bc it’s impossible rare .
I'm of the opinion nowadays (in my old age) do stupid things win stupid prizes (as the adage goes). That being said...rest in peace, adventurers, rest in peace.
They should leave a scoreboard/memorial down there for those that were lost - names, dates etc And another sign, that clearly states, 'Enter at your own risk, no rescue will be attempted for your body!' Just because stupid are going to stupid, doesn't mean we need to follow it up with another stupid to rescue their dumb arses.
If you haven't already, please consider doing a video on Oscarville/Lake Lanier!
That would be very interesting ✨️
Beautiful yet terrifying
3:25 does this mf seriously wear sneakers while cave diving??
5:20 broooo
😂😂😂
Actually, they now make dive boots that look like sneakers.
@@Hey_BK with shoe laces? Which could get stuck on rocks??
@@Hey_BK I don't think these kind of flipper boots are made for cave diving.
Excellent upload, very informative, and sadness for the lost divers.

K
You assume everyone wants to go into graphic detail…. It’s not always needed
Swallowed air; stomach burst.. wow so graphic 🙄.

A burst stomach is much less graphic than a desperate diver flailing around while swallowing water and slowing succumbing.
Why did they all remove their gear in the 4th chamber?
Normally removing gear is done to fit through tight passages.

We could look at it that way.
Or we could consider all the adventurers that discovered new things hundreds of years ago at much personal risk
