So true about the smooth transition to flight in an A380. I've only had the chance to fly it once, on Air France from JFK to Paris in 2013. Takeoff felt like someone on the flight deck just pushed the "up" button. Smooth and quiet. An amazing airplane.
Thankyou for an excellent informative video. I had planned to Fly Turkish Airlines to The USA ( Boston) from Cape Town on Business class as they don't have first class. However you do,as a South African get 2 free nights in a 5 star hotel in Istanbul. ( Not advisable during Ramadan). Now watching your video it seems better to fly via Dubai first on the 380

Let's just remember that the Wright Brothers' flight lasted 12 seconds, this flight was 13 hours, or 46,800 seconds with 2 floors, a bar, and a shower. Good mother of god.
We’ve come a long way in a little over 100 years… think about it, we went to the moon in 1969!
On the other hand, 20 years back the fastest flight from London to NY was 3 hours, now it's 8hrs.

We flew economy on an Emirates 380, and it was easily the equivalent of any US airline first class. Big seats, good food, an overnight pack, and an entertainment system with 1000+ movies! For such a big plane, loading and unloading were surprisingly efficient.

Agree 100%. I've had two great flights on an Emirates A380. If you're on a long haul flight pay extra for selecting an aisle seat. On one of my Emirates flights the air was so smooth that it was like sitting at home in a comfortable arm chair! That is how good the computer system really is.

The A380 project for Airbus, really wasn't all that successful. They never recouped the initial 25 billion dollar investment. They only built 254 airframes before production was shut down for good. It's not that is was a bad aircraft, it wasn't. I've flown on it a number of times between Washington, Dulles and Dubai and Dubai and Bangkok. It just came around at a time when a quadjet was already in the twilight of its career. The Boeing 747 will forever be the champion of quadjet aircraft....simply because it came around at a time when large capacity quadjet aircraft were in huge demand for international travel. That was also at a time before ETOPS....
@@lorenjackson8961 true they also failed to take into account that most airports are not large enough or designed to take the A380. For example Africa was a potential market to make money but most airports there have small run ways
I love that they have cameras around the plane that you can watch during takeoff and flight. I have always thought that would be a good idea for the passengers to be able to see and it looks like someone finally agreed with me. This has probably been around for a long time, but I haven't flown in about 10 years.
the pilots actually use the bottom camera for taxi because they can't see the lines, and they use the tail mounted one to make sure they dont hit anything with the wings
It's not a new concept. AA 191 had video of the take off viewed by the passengers and they watched as the plane they were in going down. That was in 1979

Oh man, I was an international road warrior for 20 years - this tugged at my heart. I love that lounge in Dubai. I've been there more than a few times in the wee hours and it's ALWAYS popping.
One of the most satisfying experiences that I have had on the A380 flying first class from JFK to Dubai. It was simply "out of this world".

I've personally flown with Emirates on an A380, just in economy, and I must say it's one of the comfiest economy class seats you can sit in, leg room is amazing, also got the TV
My first Class Delta Flight had no comparison to Emirates worse lowest economy class even though they don't have such nonsense. Sad when America use to have and created the Class of that Great First Class flight on TWA i took way back in 1979 . I will never forget the hospitality and warmth they gave in side the Beautiful Red and Wight Cloud Flight a red wine a smoky flare cigarette i wish i quit. Stuwardess were top . Why the US is with out 380 air buss is understandable but the Service does not need to drop with it..
My one and only adventure with the A380 was from London to Dubai via Lagos. I booked economy but some unruly female passengers kept disrupting the family and the sweet air hostess upgraded us to business class 😎
Flown Melbourne to Dubai in economy (pre-covid). Food, service, entertainment and seat were all as good as any other economy I've flown and being on the A380 was a bonus - big, smooth and roomy.

The A380 is quite amazing... Passenger capacity, first class space, and just amazing an aircraft of this size can take off. Great videos you've posted. I have not been on it, but your videos of the 787, A380 and other aircraft give me a chance. I was a former business traveler and my fiance worked for an airline--my Mom predicted I'd marry someone who worked for an airline.
My fiance and later our daughter both loved air travel and air travel was more enjoyable when I traveled with family which I first started doing in '66.
Glad you and your wife chose a world vacation for your honeymoon. Vacations are a memory that always gives, introducing us to cultures and experiences that are wonderful.

I flew Emirates First Class on the A380 from Sydney to Dubai to London and return in 2013 and 2014. I was interested to see that very little is different. The pjs are redesigned and the amenities pack is the same brand but updated in look (female version). The only 2 real differences I spotted were that in 2013 the seat had a massage function, which was great, and that in both years the little half moon shaped compartment in front of the TV fitted a half moon shaped box with far more lotions etc than you showed. No little towel packet - actual bottles and containers of nice smelly stuff in a pretty box to take home. By my 4th flight I wasn't using the shower (but grabbed a full set of the excellent hair and body products, plus some hairbrushes I still use) and really only ate the caviar and some soup on the shorter leg (never pass up caviar!) I found all the food tasty and well cooked, but then I didn’t try the steak (far too fussy to risk that my rare steak would be over done). All in all, your review was very interesting to see and very accurate as far as my experience goes. I look forward to watching more now I've found your channel.

I've flown from Manchester (UK) to Johannesburg via Dubai. Both planes were A380. It was economy class but probably the best all round service in economy. Food was good, drinks(no alcohol) whenever requested were prompt. And the i.f.e was excellent. Huge selection of movies. Definitely would go Emirates again.

I flew the A-380 from Miami to Frankfurt, round-trip on Lufthansa. Loved it! Efficient service, good food, premium economy bulkhead seats, yoga stretching and coffee by the galley with the crew, and the live exterior camera is unique. The smoothest and most relaxing flight I've ever taken. More are coming back into service.

This is the most amazing plane I have ever seen!
Great video. Takes me back to the 2 times when I had the chance to enjoy the first class on Emirates. The first time I received a surprise upgrade from business to first the A380 from Dubai to Amsterdam. It really blew my mind! The second time i finally accumultaed enough points to treat myself to an upgrade from business to first from Phuket via Dubai to Amsterdam. The first leg was on a B777 which was on the 'old' first class seat. I had the best sleep I ever had on a plane. The crew even had difficulty waking me up before landing in Dubai. The first class lounge in Dubai is amazing. It's so huge that sometimes you don't even see other passengers. The service in the lounge was perfect as was the shower I had in there. The final leg to Amsterdam was on my favorite aircraft, the A380. Flights on the A380 always feel a lot smoother compared to other aircraft to me. The onboard experience was as expected. It was perfect. Just as you mentioned in the video; not in your face but always there when you need it. Of course I had the shower onboard because whenever do you get that chance again? i hope I can fly the A380 again sometime soon. I really miss that big boy.

I've also had the once in a lifetime oppurtunity, and WOW... it was simply astounding. the cabin crew were so nice in everything and we were provided top tier meals throughout the flight. the lounge was also huge and the bathrooms had showers and it was BIG. if you ever do this, experience it to the fullest.
also, the flight was from SFO to DXB (san francisco to dubai intl)

Yeah Emirates are top notch, i flew from Melnourne to Heathrow with them, my flight was at 3am... they already knew I was going to be doing 26 hours on this journey so I was amazed the flight attended came up and said there is a spare row of 4 seats in the middle over there, let me know if you want to have a sleep and I will bring you a pillow and a blanket.... that is top notch service in economy!

Those are such beautiful birds. A380 has got to be the best looking plane. The 747 is close behind.
I have had the pleasure of flying first class in these a few times. The greatest experience! When I had the cavier, it came on the dish and not in the tin. Their best thing was the shower and the heated floors.
I recently flew on the Emirates A380 from JFK to Dubai and back 6 days later. The takeoff is so smooth and I was very comfortable in Economy class for the long 12.5 hour flight. The food selection was good and tasty, especially getting a variety of snacks with the meal to enjoy later. I look forward to flying on Emirates again for trips to the Middle East and Asia.

I remember flying the A380 long haul economy on emirates right before covid, and even in economy there were always all sorts of snacks and drinks laying around in the galley. I can't sleep on flights so i did my fair share of walking around and snacking. Even in economy you could tell just how smooth the A380 was, and the seats weren't tight either compared to other airlines A380's.

Congratulations on your marriage! Great video - the A380 is the most amazing plane - and such a shame that no US carriers bought them! I've only flown on Singapore Airlines and BA's A380s - the former in Business Class and the latter in Premium Economy. Def go SQ all the way - their Business Class is jaw dropping and BA PE was very good. Great to see you back in the skies!

I'm watching this 21 hours after it went to air & you mention how important the A380 is to Emirates, well 45 mins ago I watched the very last A380 do it's last pre delivery flight in Germany on flightradar24. Safe to say they'll be around for another 15 years at least.

Your comment about the steak brought back some old memories. As a teenager in the 70's I ended up flying a lot from Newark to Raleigh. I flew on the old Piedmont Airlines. On my flight from Newark there was always an amazing steak.I flew that route so much that I made friends with several of the cabin crew. They told me the secret was that the food service seared off the meat and then let the 160 degree locker continue to cook it. I dreaded the return from RDU as the food was dreadful. To this day I'd rather drive to Charlotte then catch a long haul from RDU.

They invest in their airlines in the Middle East because they see the planes as extensions of their country. The opulence of the plane is a marketing tool for the region, and it’s brilliant. I wish US airlines followed this example.
That would require US airlines to be owned by the government. The price on those tickets would be astronomical.
@@Micg51 EK, always made profits, never recorded losses until Covid, Yes is owned by a government, but it sustaines itself, US airlines got government economical bailout in billions, while the government does not own them. It is all about management.
It doesn't make sense why there aren't more airlines recruiting the a380. This is the greatest plane ever made. It's like a spaceship flying but at lower altitude.
It has some enormous limitations. Due to sheer size, it's limited to core, very high traffic routes. Add to that the fact that not that many airports can adequately support it, and the routes that it can operate become fairly limited. Then add in all the extra maintenance and training overhead that comes with having another plane model in your fleet, and it makes sense that many airlines see as it as too big of a risk to take on and instead opt for planes like the 777 or a350 for long haul routes.

Hello, I and my friend flew on Emirates from London Heathrow to Osaka via Dubai. We had already preordered our meals. On the B777-300 to Dubai then we transferred onto an A340-500. The service on both of the aircraft was excellent for the economy class. The seating on the B777-300 was better than the 340-500. Our meals and drinks were abundant to eat. I do not drink alcohol so I let my friend drink mine and he was happy to oblige to. The entertainment system was very good I spent more time watching a lot of episodes of Law And Order and eating. When we transferred onto the theA340-500 our seats were a bit hard. The performance of the engine noise on the A34-500 was a lot quieter. I can say Emirates is exquisite.

@@siletamus2016 The Airbuses 320 & 321 néo and XN and the B737-8 changed many things .... You can fly from small european airports to the US and far asia and being full... Filling an A380 is much much difficult...
Love the A380’s sheer size, however, the first class seats on the 777 have that added privacy. Perfect if you on your own, you’re partner might disagree depending on the state of your relationship 😂

Hi Jeb as usual a very informative & honest review & it has made me put this on to my bucket list . Just prior to Covid I went first class on Emirates 777 Melb to Singapore & loved it ,, it was a Qantas code share flight so I enjoyed the Qantas First Lounge in Melbourne . The return was via the Qantas First Lounge in Singapore on a Qantas A380 that had not had the revamp some have ,, however I thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was a present from my family .. my aim now is an Emirates A380 .. thank you again
I have flown between Atlanta and Dubai (15 to 16 hours) a number of times on Delta in their upgraded Business Class with lie-flat seats. The long flight is a better experience than flying trans-Atlantic (7 to 9 hours). It is because you can have dinner & watch a movie or two while still being able to sleep all you want before it's time to wake up for breakfast. There is also a mid-flight hot snack in BC while EC gets a selection of self service cold snacks.

@@Dylan10117 If you are referring to the Delta flights between Atlanta and Dubai they were non-stops flights at the time. It appears DL no longer flies non-stop between the USA and Dubai.
