It does my heart good to see these guys healthy and happy after so many years. Still touring in North America! How I wish I could see them in concert.

They were part of the sound track of my youth. How lucky we were to have music like this to grow up with. Still one of my favorite groups.

Joe, you need to put a new category in The Musicians Hall of Fame for music historian. And I'm sure others would agree that you deserve the first award.

Inevitably when Jay and Joe have these wonderful guests in front of them, they put these guests at ease. I enjoy the way the guests talk about the artists they loved and were influenced by. Just like you were talking to pals you grew up with. These interludes are treasures. Thanks again Joe Chambers and Jay McDowell.

Thanks, Thomas. It’s so cool to discover that the musicians that we idolize are big fans of other artists themselves. We all turn into teenagers again when we talk about the music that reached us.

I LOVE this look at the history of these guys. It's literally the music of my pre-teen youth. When I first heard them I couldn't put my finger on it...but it sounded so simple! Yet it had so much emotion and complexity to it at the same time. That's why it still sounds great today. Elvis broke around the time I was born and by the time the Zombies hit he was that guy in the cheesy movies so I never realized until much later just how much Elvis influenced a lot of the bands I loved...from across the ocean no less.

Saw The Zombies on a split bill with Love in San Francisco in the early 2000s. Both were absolutely vital and sounded great, but what stole the show for me was Colin Blunstone's voice. It was 100% intact, shockingly so. Whatever he was doing for his health- it worked!
Another great interview Joe. Thank you!

I lived in Brooklyn back in the '60s, when the Murray the K Christmas show was happening at the Brooklyn Fox; those shows had lots of big name British Invasion groups, but especially the Motown crowd - all the Motown people popped up at those. That part of the '60s was glorious - before the madness of the late '60s set in. Elvis having the Zombies on his jukebox was cool, and the Hullabaloo bit with the mannequin women reminded me of the Robert Palmer video 20 years later, with the 3 hot backup women moving along to the song as Palmer sang. Long Live Rock 'n Roll!! 🙃

At the end of part 1 you’re mentioning your own discovery of the blues through the Animals. As I listened to the opening commercials I was remembering my own switch turned on to music when Eric Burdon’s voice entered my young ears as a kid in my early teens. Very cool. ✌️👍

Hey Joe, I love all your interviews and you have a great "description" section, but it would be great if you could put links to the previous parts when you post "Part 2" and "Part 3" of an interconnected series. I clicked on "Part 3" and tried to locate the 2 previous episodes, but I could only find this - "Part 2". Yeah, I'm missing "Part 1" but I'll live. Thanks for everything.

Loved every second of it! I guess you know that Colin Blunstone sang on some Alan Parsons Project songs such as Old and Wise. czcams.com/video/lAnAXPIFn9k/video.html
The girl in Wicked Game is Helena Christensen. What a masterpiece of music that song is!! Helena was a masterpiece too! ;-)
