I do the same thing, people always point it out. Always prefered it. I feel its more common with guys whose go to shot is their wrist shot. Also maybe on guys who play dominant hand top?? Just theory’s…

@@-Nobody-1 my son is a mite and he does this. Most of his coaches tell him to lower his hand but I see a lot of top players with their hands like this.

@@JKryanX at the mite level they night just be trying to instill classic fundamentals, but as he develops he will realize what feels best. And if it produces he can then just do his thing.

It would have been nice to know how he determined what flex to use. I've heard that it should be around your body weight divided by 2. Personally I use the formula: (body weight + height in inches x 2 + bench press weight) / 6 x 85%, then round to the closest flex available from your favorite stick manufacturer :)

all personal preference man.. u see players like mcdavid who like to stick handle alot use higher flex cause the puck feels better on their stick while u see someone like johnny use a 55 flex for those wristers

what does bench press have to do with it - not even close to the same motion

Well he's about 200 pounds maybe a little more. He started with 100 and adjusted based on his shooting style. Stiffer flex makes it harder to shoot.

@@gabrielgoetz1954 what stick would you recommend for defenseman i just broke trigger 3d had for a while but also have a 2n? I like p29/p92 curve because easy to snap puck but don't know what new stick to buy that will be good/ versatile for snapshots and slapshots. Deciding maybe flylite because lot of nhlers use maybe alpha dx , 2n, trigger 5, or jetspeed?
