I own my home OUTRIGHT in Boynton Beach. No mortgage. Car paid off. 0 credit card debt make $80k/yr. Car insurance is $300 mo, home insurance $400 month, everything tripled in price. Still paycheck to paycheck. 4 years ago I was dumping in $1000/mo into my ETF. Now I invest NOTHING and am paycheck to paycheck. FL is dogshit now, overcrowded and garbage.

Agents don't want to sell these houses Chris. The prices are dropping, subject to deals are everywhere and agents won't present the offers.

I live in Bayside NYC in a beautiful one family home, pay $350 monthly for home, car (full cover) and umbrella insurance, property tax 9K a year; in 2008 FL housing went dow 40%!, here North Queens only 6%; my friends in Miami (I was there en January) are depressed and trying to sell their investments there, they regret leaving NYC; I buying houses as a investor here en North Queens since 1994 so I know what I am talking about!, FL is a mess now with Insurance and taxes, but the worsening clima is really terrifying 😢, I am a 3 months snow bird and prefer pay rent in Miami.

I think Florida is beautiful i lived there right before the pademic when it was affordable. It is not affordable now only for the rich. If u are rich u will be very happy there. If u r not rich u will be very unhappy and stressed.

Personally, I think too many people moved to Florida because they wanted to mainly retire. To turn Florida into a popular retirement state destination or tourist destination seems like a very bad idea by the state government. The Boomer generation now mostly in their 60 and 70 years will eventually pass away beyond 2030 on higher numbers. There money to live on in retirement won’t last owning a property with medical and caregiving expenses. I was looking at pay for a indemand traveling geriatric nurse a the pay is in the range of $52 to $58 an hour. I can say that is extremely good pay but retired fixed income Boomers aging in place independently in so many private residence are in huge trouble. The caregivers shortage means only the very wealthy will afford the best of care coming to their homes. Not affording senior living community residential living which is the best as far as caregiving is a concern the Boomers are going to really suffer.

One issue in Florida- well in SWFL where we lived and now do not is medical care i terms of CONCIERGE doctors. My husband needed a rheumatologist and found one- saw him once n Medicare payment- then suddenly was told he is now a concierge Dr- fee is $10000 a year to be on his "private patient list" Office visits would need to be private pay- no insurance taken. Same thing happened to a friend who was having cardiac issues- all the doctors in the Fort Myers/Naples area were becoming concierge- even had a doctor advertising on local TV about the benefits of being a "private patient." Waits for care were LONG as there are so many seniors down there. Also for Medicare supplemental insurance the premiums are also higher as so many seniors are down there. Health care issues are a major one when you get old. we moved out of Florida for better medical care and doctors who take Medicare and our insurance.

@@user-oh5cp5bx5v wow that is horrible . $10,000 a year is a lot and now I wonder what that amount will be in 40 years. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best too.
