I literally only ever use Tumblr and CZcams these days. Tumblr is the only site that's anonymous enough and has diverse enough posts that are actually funny to keep me engaged. I also love how we don't see one another's follower counts, clout culture on that site is absolutely useless.

I love Tumblr because of its tagging and filtering system. I have a "fanon" twitter now because a lot of fanartists are on twitter but I hate how you can't filter content and artists won't always tag their art so it's a mission to find. Also the lack of anonymity.

The thing with tumblr is that the whole "culture" of the site is to say the most outlandish thing you could possibly think of under a post
As someone who grew up with the site I'm used to it but I can definitely understand how it could become too much, especially if you were really popular on the site
Exactly. Especially the sexual stuff; just from this sample you can easily imagine how uncomfortable it must have been for people to add explicitly sexual things on your posts and to even DM them to you. That joke about the icon must have been at least a little unnerving; having 'followers' like that is not something everyone wants. I absolutely feel for Seth wanting to step away from all of it. I'm glad he left his posts up, though, so we can still reminisce :)
I joined tumblr around 2010, around the time that Glee started to reach peak popularity. I quickly learned how extra the site was, but it was my gateway into a lot of the people I know and still adore to this day. While tumblr is mostly bad, you really have to dig deep to find the good parts.

The thing that’s really interesting is that I’ve noticed a lot more comments over the past couple of years about how tumblr is a more bearable social media platform because it doesn’t mine your data incessantly for ads, it’s in chronological order & you’re able to be relatively anonymous on it if you want. Totally respect your decision though, being so visible to the weirdest people on the internet must have been horrible.

I'm honored to have been a witness to these posts when they were around on tumblr. I had always wondered why you left, I've never thought of tumblr as draining, but then, I've never had thousands of followers either lol
Having a thousand+ active followers on Tumblr is somewhat like being on Twitter at all -- that is, you start to take mental damage from every interaction.
(Keep in mind, pre-ban Tumblr was much different from the nerfed Tumblr of today as interactions had much higher DOT (Damage Over Time). Therefore, the Twitter migration is a large a factor in this calculation).

Not gonna lie, this was actually incredibly entertaining. I'm the type of person who will consume content from tumblr, reddit and tiktok but I only do so through people sharing the funny stuff in vids, servers on discord, or direct messages.
