Uphold the 2nd amendment, have our teachers and students of age that pass a gun safety class have them conceal & carry on school grounds to better protect our children. And if this is not allowed I would suggest to any parent that it be better to homeschool your kids now during these times. We have seen time and time again that the government will not protect you, the police will not protect you, we've seen this before, just like we saw it in Uvalde Texas that day. It is remarklably clear that at least TWO children were in that room while the police waited: the girl that called 911 (who was subsequently killed) and her best friend who survived and exited the building "covered" in blood. The surviving girl came into contact with the father of the girl who called 911 and said that her best friend had been killed next to her for "trying to save everybody by calling 911." The father asked who her best friend was. The little girl told him it was his daughter. To have stood there doing nothing while each gunshot they heard was likely killing another one of that town's children is something those officers will forever be haunted by, because that town's certainly not going to let them forget it.

      At his first press conference he said that the there was no record of the killer having "mental issues," then said that the focus should be "mental issues". In REALITY he had cut more than 200 million from the budget of the department that provides mental health services.
      Abbott claims he was "mislead". After the incident the first thing the police did was to praise themselves, and were pushing the same REPUBLICAN politics as Abbott.
      Abbott said he was suspending his political activities, then went to a campaign fund raiser, which is a political activity.
      Then when the facts began coming out, he cancelled his in-person appearance at the NRA insanity fest, paused to make a video appearance, then scrambled to the scene of the crime in effort to repair the cover-up by blaming everything BUT the means by which the mass murder was committed: GUNS.

We have teachers that volunteered to have a full mental health screening, background check, and the same training with firearms officers have to pass so they could have a firearm locked up near them in the event of an active shooter. Our school doors have keypad entry with a call button and cameras are installed throughout the school. No one is allowed to know who the staff are that carry for their safety and prevent someone from planning around them if they decided to try something like this. None of our kids know who they are and never see the weapons. There is also an armed deputy on campus with his own office at all times when students are there to include after hours. Some people say it's extreme but is it really? Try to get into a government building armed like this. A lot of politicians, high profile public figures, and celebs have higher security than this and no one says a word. Their own kids and families have protection. Why do our nation's school children deserve any less?

    • @angelastewart7049
      @angelastewart7049 Před 2 lety

      @@Matt-fl8uy The GOP didn't arm these teachers. Our school board did. I don't trust the corruption in common core or critical race theory, so why should I trust a teacher that can teach it? The salary of a teacher does not make her incapable or unintelligent in the use of firearms with proper training, which many of us in the south who hunt grow up with since hunter safety courses have been here for generations for kids as young as 12. These teachers had to pass the same curriculum and requirements our deputies are trained by. Some didn't pass and were not allowed to participate. Many did. There were parents outside willing to go in. One child killed was the niece of a middle school teacher. Nothing can make me believe that if one of the teachers there could access her weapon, they'd have watched the senseless slaughter of these babies without trying. It certainly would have been more of a chance than 19 officers in a hallway trying to figure out how to get through the steel door that swung outward instead of inward. That's why they had to have a key. It costed precious time those kids and teachers didn't have. He shot at windows before going in. If someone inside had the presence of mind to call 911 at that point, it would stand to reason someone would have had time to grab their weapon and could have made the difference in life or death. You cannot legislate people into safety. You have to give them the right and means to secure their safety and they will stand that line for those they love and the innocent people around them. People who oppose guns are typically in two categories. They either don't understand enough about them to speak on it intelligently either out of fear or their own ignorant arrogance, or they have an agenda that seeks to disarm the population so to control and create chaos and fear so they can seem like the heroes. It's either an ignorant or toxic mind set. So, which one are you?

      @@LourdesGzz My point exactly! When there's an armed suspect they choose "training" as you call it, but when it's ONE UNARMED/HANDCUFFED suspect vrs 2-3 cops they forget their training & get very brave/violent.
      They didn't want to go in the school until the swat unit got there (45 minutes) not giving a fuck that children were getting killed! They could've at the very least let the parents try to save the children.

    It is my understanding, over here in CT, schools are lucked after all kids are inside. No one gets in unless they are there for a good reason known to the school. I could not get inside the school to get the kid I babysit if the parents didn’t gave authorization. They would even open the door for me, and they did know who I was. How a strange kid go inside a school and open fire against small children is beyond my comprehension. Lock the schools down, period.
