The 2007 or 2008 song is about a famous European singer diva in the 1930´s who was adored by her fans, but hell broke loose on the onset of WWII where the nazis invaded Europa, created concentration camps, gas chamber "the final solution" and diva became crazy. At the end of WWII, with an impoverished, destitute Europe, destroyed by the War, the diva arises from the ashes as the Phoenix bird. Mónica is interpreting the diva singer before the onset of WWII, the diva that went crazy during WWII and the diva that rises from the ashes like the Phoenix bird. Mónica uses this as a metaphor for when she spent years fighting with the record company for artistic control. It got to the point where she could no longer deal with the mistreatment of the record company, so she walked away for 6 or 7 years, not producing any music. Six years later, she composed the album "Tarantula" with the first single as "Europa" with full artistic control. Her fans went nuts to see her return, as they are very loyal. We fans know Mónica´s struggles and success and understand the literary devices (metaphor, alliteration, symbolism) she uses in her lyrics and videos to fully admire and adore her work. Mónica is capable of singing Opera, Jazz, Rock, Tango, Classical and other musical genres. I would recommend "Ahora Ahora directo de Luar" and that you read the lyric before hand.
She is absolutely amazing, all her songs are unique and her voice control is perfect.

Your confusion's understandable. The song represents a famous singer in the 30s. In the first part she sings about her years of fame, glory and love, with the war approaching in the background. The second part are the war years, when she loses everything, including her lover. That's why her voice is like a parody and the music more hectic, like bombings. That particular show was her comeback after some years away from music.

I'm a spanish metalhead who came here with the first reaction to nightwish i didn't espect you react to Mónica, she's the most powerfull and versatil female voice of Spain, if you react to "Doble corazón" I think you will love it too 😘
There is indeed like three songs in this one.
In the first part, the most lyrical, she is telling an story when she was a great singer, famous and acclaimed, and she was in love. She felt loved and lucky.
On the second part, war raged through Europe, and she miss the times she was the "voice of the nation, filling theaters only with her voice", and during that she lost him: "between a thousand flags, crosses, skulls and quimeric symbols, I lost you"
The last part is the desesperation, the "Final solution" making a parallelism on what happend on WWII and hinting the possibility of commiting suicide. "The defeat was huge", she said. And start to miss old times.
This is possibly one of the best examples of the vocal power of Mónica Naranjo, but I strongly recommend to hear other songs, and even other versions of her songs, as she reinterpreted a lot of her own songs in other ways.
I love Monica. One of the Best female voices! Unfortunately she's not very popular in Argentina

One side reflects the decadence of Europe after the war and also it is kind of a biopic since she left the music being in the highest point of fame, just because she was exhausted, with everybody trying to get a piece of cake from her and she felt completely alone on the top of the mountain. The mentioned version is the best, in my opinion, of all versions, also because is the only one with the 7 minutes version.
