The story behind the song is amazing. It is the story of a injured woman who is telling to a man who is dying in his bed that she does not forgive him. She says to him..."Only God can forgive you. I DON'T want to do it because you were an absolute devil with me".

In this song it can be identified as two different options of "death":
1.- That the man she was with was on her deathbed and she told him before she died: "May God forgive you, but not me." For all the supposedly very bad things he did to her while she was alive.
2.- That she just before leaving him (separating from him) told him: "May God forgive you, but not me." Producing a definitive metaphorical death of the relationship between the two.
Let each one interpret it as he wants or suits him

Juan. Tu traduccion es muy mala. El Ingles a veces tiene frases que no se traducen exactamente al Español. Por ejemplo en Ingles “me estas tomando el pelo” se traduce “you are pulling my leg” (leg es pierna no pelo. Asi tambien con está cancion. “The forgiveness” no existe en Ingles tipicamente…se dice nomas “forgiveness”. Por ejemplo “forgiveness is a virtue” en Español es “el perdon es una virtud “. Asi ay muchos errores mas dejame darte unos ejemplos usando tu traduccion…
“Por las veces que me engañaste” tu pusiste “mocked me” eso quiere decir burla no engaño…
Debe ser “for all the instances you lied to me”
“Por los hijos que no me diste”
Pusiste “sons” que en Ingles es masculino …la cancion se refiere a hijos en GENERAL que en Ingles es “children”
“Por haberte callado tanto” tu pusiste “for having hided so much”
Esto esta HORRIBLE porque la frase que sigue es la continuacion y tu la separaste … asi debio haber sido la frase completa “ for having kept in secret all the women that you were cheating with”
“mantuviste” en esta cancion se refiere a ENGAÑAR no a mantener economicamente, en ingles hay frase diferemte para cada una. Mantener es “support”
Esa traduccion no es exacta palabra por palabra porque si lo haces asi no tiene sentido en Ingles.
Un ejemplo mas y te dejo en Paz. “forgiveness is given by God”
Esto NUNCA lo he escuchado en Ingles en 35 años. En ingles se dice “forgiveness is GOD GIVEN” o tambien “forgiveness is a gift from God” en Ingles nunca va “the” antes de forgiveness. Esto si va en Ingles
