- Chris from Bow River Troutfitters shows you the Fat Albert. This buoyant foam fly is perfect as a hopper or stonefly imitation. It easily holds nymphs up in hopper dropper rigs, and can be tied in many colours or pattern variations. We like to tie these flies a little skinnier and smaller than shown for our home waters but large chunky patterns are great as salmon or skwala flies. Smaller flies tied with a really chunky body are ideal as terrestrial bugs for mountain streams too!
Excellent instruction, pace and tying technique. Gearing up for Patagonia next summer so thanks!
Great video, really like that pattern and will be tying some up along with some Charlie boy hoppers
Thanks Brent! I'm gonna try it next year in a big way and see how it goes.
