  • Chris from Bow River Troutfitters shows you the Fat Albert. This buoyant foam fly is perfect as a hopper or stonefly imitation. It easily holds nymphs up in hopper dropper rigs, and can be tied in many colours or pattern variations. We like to tie these flies a little skinnier and smaller than shown for our home waters but large chunky patterns are great as salmon or skwala flies. Smaller flies tied with a really chunky body are ideal as terrestrial bugs for mountain streams too!

Thanks Brent! I'm gonna try it next year in a big way and see how it goes.
