BTW, you two must be the nicest reactors I've come across, so enjoyable to watch. Subscribed at the very begining.

Mick Jagger's girlfriend at the time, Marianne Faithfull, had tried to commit suicide. He stayed with her in the hospital and for some time after. That's when he wrote this song.

Acoustic is still studio. It is the original instrumentation on their album. Acoustic guitars are the instruments they chose to use for this beautiful song, which they recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama. They chose that studio to achieve a special sound and vibe the studio was famous for providing to many other legendary songs.

Shout out to Gram Parsons, who was spending a lot of time around Keith Richards (doing heroin) when this song was written, and who in fact released his own version first. It’s the melding of country and rock that Parsons championed through his bands The Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers, and in particular this song has the classic Parsons feel of a mournful, wistful sort of country song for a lover where things aren’t perfect by any means but the feelings still burn and endure like embers of a house burnt down. So much of the rock that followed was inspired by Gram and his associations, and how his ideas about music filtered right up to the very top of the ladder with bands like the Stones and The Band.

It's one of those rare songs that you instantly love the first time you hear it; a testament to the beauty of this song. The musical layers they paint with the lyrics, acoustic guitar and drums are a masterpiece in composition. Charlie's drumming like Mick's voice was outstanding. Now you know why the Stones are legends. BTW all the songs on this album are fantastic such as "Dead Flowers" and "Moonlight Mile". Some of my other favorite songs are "Ruby Tuesday", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", "Love in Vain", "Gimmie Shelter", “No Expectations” and “Angie”.

I read on e that Jagger said this song was about being away from loved ones on the road thousands of miles away, but I love the lyrics. One thing that separate the Stones from other bands is the unique and profound lyrics of their songs.
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
That's poetry, art. Life is but a stage especially when your Jagger away on so many stages.
I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die
Dreamed you, gave you a sin and a lie. Very deep, many ways to take this verse.
This has been said by many to be a top 100 song of all time, a classic.

The acoustic version is the only version. This is the official album track. It was written when Gram Parsons from the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers was spending a lot of time with Keith Richards. This is a fine Stone's song, but it's just a great hit when they have much better material. I hope you react to more of their catalog. If you want links let me know. You should also do some Flying Burrito Brothers. They were very influential.

Both Keith and Mick are from from my neck of the woods in England, Dartford, Kent. Mick has the Mick Jagger Centre performing arts venue named after him. Jagger and Richards went to the same junior school but lost contact with each other when they went to different schools, before meeting by chance on a railway station, so the story goes. As you know John and Paul met by chance early in the Beatles time line.
Mick Jagger was born and grew up in Dartford. He studied at the London School of Economics before abandoning his studies to focus on his career with the Rolling Stones.
Keith Richards was born in and grew up in Dartford, Kent. He studied at the Dartford Technical School and Sidcup Art College. After graduating, Richards befriended Jagger, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Ian Stewart and Brian Jones and joined the Rolling Stones.
The Rolling Stones formed in London in 1962.

Hello to you both, I enjoyed your reactions to this beautiful song, and I hope you both share a deep exploration of this incredible band.
Driven by a passion for American blues music, the Rolling Stones were formed by Brian Jones in 1962 as a rhythm and blues cover band in London, England.
    The 5 original members were:
    Mick Jagger - lead vocals
Keith Richards - guitar, backing vocals
    Brian Jones - guitar
    Charlie Watts - drums
    Bill Wyman - bass
Within months after the band was started, guitarist Keith Richards and singer Mick Jagger formed a songwriting partnership that would lead the Stones into an incredible range of different styles of music - as well as massive worldwide popularity.
They're a very collaborative songwriting team - the extraverted Mick Jagger, who's a versatile singer with a gift for expressing emotions, and the introverted Keith Richards, an expressive guitarist with a gift for creating riffs.
There's so many great Rolling Stones songs over their more than 60 year career ( ! ), so I recommend you start with their earliest music of the 1960's.
Here's a link to one Stones masterpiece for you to consider for a reaction video:

This was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama which was _the_ hot spot for recording back from the late 1960s through 1980s because their local studio musicians were as good as any place, and this is in a tiny city of only 8,000 people or so. Yet the list of best selling albums recorded there by an absolute horde of the top bands is absolutely mind boggling! Keith Richards composed the acoustic guitar for this song while sitting in the studio bathroom racking his brains for a composition, LOL!
There is an excellent music documentary called "Muscle Shoals" that covers this period in the small city's musical history. I recommend it highly. You won't be disappointed in the slightest, since following you two for the last several years I have come to know the sort of music you enjoy. Here is the link to it. czcams.com/video/G-S576-2qhk/video.html 👀🎸🎸🎸👌🤠😎💖💖💖

@dh2392: This is NOT the final and officially released version as heard on their L.P. / ALBUM. It is missing instruments and vocal harmonies.
