I think what we’re seeing in Palestine, is the culmination of the entire history of western tools of imperialism, all on display right now.
Almost every colonized people on earth, can see something the west did to them, they are doing to the Palestinians. From South Africans recognizing the apartheid system, Vietnamese recognizing the mass bombings and resistance tunnels, native Americans recognizing the forced March out of Gaza city, or black Americans recognizing same policing tools, techniques, and brutality used on them and the Palestinians. Do I even need to start with the Irish?
It’s all on display and everyone can recognize it for what it is. There’s no hiding it or saying “that was a one time mistake in the past”. The mask is off now.

Oh my gosh I am a Vietnamese in Europe and I just tried to explain to my closest friend YESTERDAY that Hummus is not much different than Vietcong, which I have passed family members in. The US tried to demonize Vietcong by the same tactics saying they were torrer. There are definitely left and right criticisms twds the leaders in Vietnam that day and even till now. But that does not make them less of anyone who freed Vietname from so many wars and colonizers. The US is a toxic evil state. My grandfather passed away of Agent Yellow. Thankfully, my dad was born before his dad went to the war. They just want to sell weapons and get more lands. They critisize China so bad, but they are no different, even way worse. And as a Vietnamese, I am very aware what the Chinese did to us. But I am even more aware of what an evil state the US is. They are institutionalized colonizers, founded by colonizers, built by colonizers and bred colonizers.

      How exactly?
Palestinians are natives while Israelis are colonists (words of Israel’s founding fathers)
Israel established a state without ever declaring borders to allow expansion. Palestinians ethnically cleansed in 1948 cannot return while any Jew can get Israeli citizenship even if they cannot demonstrate any proof that they come from the land of Palestine
The British specifically placed Jews above non Jews when they were in control of Palestine
The list goes on, but there is only one oppressed side and one oppressor side. Palestinians may have made mistakes in pursuit of liberation, but they do not fundamentally change the fact that they are the oppressed nor do they measure up even slightly to the crimes of Israel even before the current genocidal war

Another good example of the current situation in Gaza is Stalingrad.
The Germans bombed it several times causing mass death to the cities' population, expecting to either force the enemy's morale to be at an all time low and withdraw or suffer too heavy casualties to sustain a defense of the city. The outcome? : A force not willing to hand over the city after the devastation they saw digging in, and thanks to all the destroyed buildings gained plenty of hiding spots for snipers and made urban warfare that much harder for the attackers. Quite similar with how the Israeli's are now suffering for every inch of the city they try to secure.

0:59 The Domino theory is a euphemism, similar to "police action". The "spread of communism" is a euphemism for "we don't want the USSR to have any allies in the event that we go to war with them". That's it. Vietnam was more than willing to ally itself with the United States if it assisted it in backing it militarily against the French. The US did not want to do that because despite being ostensibly anti-colonial, France was an ally against the USSR, and decolonization would weaken France in the event of a war against the USSR. This was unacceptable so Vietnam relied on the USSR, who was willing to ally itself with any communist, socialist, or Marxist governments. That's it.

I also came across the article and I appreciate your thorough elaboration, as well as the addition of additional context and historical insights. Hamas's armed wing and maybe the PIJ might be the biggest groups fighting on the ground, but they're not alone as various other groups from different ideologies are fighting with them. The PFLP's armed wing, with a Marxist-Leninist ideology, the DFLP's armed wing, with a Marxist-Leninist and Maoist ideology along with the PRC, a coalition of armed Palestinian groups opposed to the conciliatory approach of the FATAH-led PA towards Israel... They along with many are part of what's called "The Joint Room for Palestinian Resistance Factions" . Its aim is to coordinate operations and present a framework for all the organizations, networks and fighters... A lot of these groups don't share the same ideologies and don't agree on a lot of things ( the PFLP sees both the Fatah-led PA's government and the Hamas-led Gaza government as illegal as elections haven't been held since 2006), they seem to be united on the ground and about the goal of liberation of their lands.

I’m American and I visited Iran in 2018. There were tons of signs on the former US embassy in Tehran listing the foreign wars the US was involved in and the number of civilian casualties. I took a picture and looked into it, and sure enough, the US has killed millions and millions of people in wars that posed no actual existential threat to the US at all. The atrocities committed in South East Asia are absolutely horrifying, it’s hard to understand why those countries don’t despise the US.

In 1966, the former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Dayan visited South Vietnam, Dayan spent time on the ground with more than one American military unit as he enthusiastically immersed himself into the guts of the Vietnam War as few visiting dignitaries had or ever would. He came away convinced that the Americans were fighting the wrong kind of war in Vietnam-and one that he believed, at best, would end in a stalemate. Dayan was also impressed by the Vietcong’s determination. Dayan put it in his book, Vietnam Diary, which was published in Israel in 1977, “the Americans are winning everything-except the war.”

I went to the Vietnam war museum in Ho Chi Minh City last year. I was in shock after seeing the effects of agent orange on the people, and the genetic mutations passed on to their descendants. Absolutely insane.
The main difference I see in this war is that unlike the United States, Israel cannot return home across the ocean once defeated. From their perspective, the enemy is essentially hidden within their own house, so they will be much more resistant to external pressure to stop fighting.
Israel will only stop fighting the existence of a Palestinian state once there is enough pressure and risk of war from other parties to force them into negotiations.
