I don't know if Federer ran out of gas or if Nadal was just Nadal in the end. If Federer was that emotional, then you know it was a big match that meant a lot to him. Much respect to Federer. Much respect to Nadal for the way he handled his victory speech. Nadal barely held up the trophy because Roger was so crushed by the loss. Once again, Nadal is equal in both victory and defeat. This is what an AO final should be like along with the 2012 between Rafa and Nole.
    All the Djoker v. Murray AO finals were pathetic and painful to watch to be honest.
    Rafa Nadal circa 2008,2009, 2010 was simply above everyone else. The speed, shot making, the ferocious CC backhand and of course the fearhand were all clicking for sure.
    This is the period when Nadal consistently beat prime Federer on all surfaces and we were lucky to have legendary matches like this one.
    There's no comparison to the Djoker v Federer finals of 2015 when clearly one man was at his very best and the other had lost speed and edurance. This is what makes Nadal a better player than djoker in my opinion.

      Luis Durán For me the real test to show his level was vs Zverev. After losing the 4th set, the Nadal of 2015-16 would have lost that game. But the 2017 could close it. And we have seen today that a fast serve is not enough against the Best Rafa. I'm really hopeful, the 3 players left have one handed backhand, and Nadal knows how to beat this, with top spins to their backhand side.

    • @AlbertoBlasi
      @AlbertoBlasi Před 9 lety +2

      No, it's really not, in fact I think that Federer's backhand is at least on par with Nadal's. Nadal's backhand, unlike his monster forehand, is nothing special: Gasquet, Wawrinka, Thiem and Djokovic, all of them have better backhands just to name a few. The problem is the opposite: by having that kind of high-bouncing forehand (and being a leftie) Nadal can attack Federer's backhand better than anyone else. That's how he managed to constantly beat him. That and running faster and using slow courts better.

    • @sunglee3935
      @sunglee3935 Před 9 lety +1

      Alberto Blasi Upto 2010, Nadal's backhand was pretty good. Since 2011 it has deteriorated. I think it has to do with his right knee. All the pros hit open stance and load up on the back leg but he can't load up on the right knee when he's hitting the backhand.

The h2h that nadal has over federer and nole goes over a total of 50 matches and not single digit h2hs. So try using REAL logic sometime.....

      Nadal rarely made it to the final when Federer was winning 8 out of 10 possible Grand Slams from mid-2005 to 2008, and Nadal was number 2 through this whole period.
      Nadal only has this good a record against Federer because Federer kept making it far enough to reach Nadal after he wasn't able to win as many Grand Slams, had Nadal done the same it would be different.
      Now look at it like this : Most of the Federer defeats in his top period were against top players like Nadal (against which he had a positive record at the time), whereas Nadal had many defeats against lesser players. If you see it like this, it makes more sense that Roger is the stronger player. Both are exceptionally good of course, but the fact that Federer's winning period had so little matches with Nadal outside of clay makes their head to head record not so relevant.
      Their head to head on clay on the other hand is very relevant as Federer has kept coming back to meet him on this surface during his whole career, and Nadal definitely is the king of Clay, so strong on this surface.

      It may not be 23-11 but it would still be in favour of Nadal and by quite a margin. Also, what about the 9-2 in GS and the fact that Fed's last win over Nadal was on his favourite surface and when Nadal was only 21 over 9 years ago. 3-0 at the AO, 5-0 at the FO and Fed had to rely on Soderling for his only RG, that's sad, whereas Rafa has beaten Fed at Wimbledon.

I'm saying the chances are not as great as you think. But what he won't achieve is 300 weeks at No.1, or 1,000+ match wins in his career, 6 World Tour Finals titles. Or 5 Slams in another tournament not RG, among other things. Federer is not the best just because of 17 Slams. He is the best because he is the most consistent player in the history of the game. Consistent all year long, in all the Grand Slams.

    Djokovic lacks the shotmaking and variety that these 2 used to have. Their all court games are better than novaks. You can't just hit the ball back and be consistent in order to beat fedal in their primes at slams. Djokovic wins today because hes fitter and more consistent, but with fedals fitness at this time, its a whole other story. Funny thing is that you will never see nole fans commenting in these videos. You only find them primarily in videos from 2018-present, which is hilarious.

      @samfisher5 Před 8 lety +1

      +Christopher Harris Actually it does prove that the better player usually wins. It's all about skill, mental toughness and inteliigence and Rafa destroys him in all that. The only times he's lost it either luck or Rafa's bad form.

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 8 lety +2

      +samfisher5 Luck or bad form? LOL Nadal has no more skill than Federer. Ask Uncle Toni. Heck, Nadal and Uncle Toni both say that Djokovic is a better player than Nadal. And Federer too. Toni specifically said that Federer is better because Federer was #1 for 5 years (Nadal only 3) and Federer has 17 Slams (Nadal has 14). So, are you saying you know more about tennis than Nadal's coach?!
      Also, Nadal is not more mentally strong than Federer. You just have to see all those match points Federer has saved over the years. Federer hardly complains in a tenis court. The guy doesn't even make sounds, or over exagerated come ons! He just plays tennis. Nadal's favorable H2H is based on an excessive number of clay court matches which clearly favor Nadal's style over Federer, and too few grass court matches. That, coupled with a lot of matches played with Federer hurt, and few matches played with Nadal hurt or in bad form (since 2013, they have played ZERO times). And I said it prior to Cinci, Nadal is not going to make the Quarters just to avoid Federer. And what did he do? He lost to crappy Lopez in the previous round. LOL

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 8 lety +2

      +samfisher5 Nadal is the queen of complaints. Tell me, when has Federer bitched about anything? Out of the top of my head, this is Nadals bitching: 1- Ranking being a 52 weeks instead of 2 year 2- WTF not being played on clay 3- the blue clay of Madrid, where he said he wasn't playing next year unless they switched it back to red clay 4- bitching about Bernardes being the chair umpire in his games. Federer is the least bitchy player in the league. The guy comes out and does his job. Never complains. There's a reason he is voted by his peer as the most fair player out there.
      Clay isn't the most challenging. All surfaces have their challenge. Clay is the most physical. But other surfaces require more skill. Fast surfaces show if your technique is solid or not. That is why tenis is special: the game is different depending on which surface. And great players manage to be great at all of them. Clearly Federer is the most complete player when it comes to playing on different surfaces and being successful.
      About Djokovic vs Nadal, or course Nadal prefers Federer. Nadal prefers any 1 handed backhand player over any 2 handed backhand player. The 1 hander has a way tougher time handling Nadal's forehand crosscourt. Nothing surprising here.
      Federer has beaten Nadal 10 times, and none of those times Nadal was injured. Federer has beaten Nadal so badly that he has bagelled Nadal 3 times, on 3 different surfaces. A bagel is winning a set 6-0, just so you know. He even bagelled Nadal on clay! You are clearly mistaken about the fact that Federer has beaten Nadal a lot.
      Nadal will retire soon because his game is crap. He is not as fast on the court anymore, and with his speed, out goes his game. He doesn't have a plan B like Federer. Also, a player of Nadal's caliber doesn't just conform with winning 250 level events. If he doesn't feel like he is capable of winning Grand Slams anymore (which he isn't), then he will call it quits. Most likely will blame an injury on why he is retiring. But we all know the truth: the competition has surpassed him and he is no longer among the best on the Tour.

    • @samfisher5
      @samfisher5 Před 8 lety +1

      +NoelAndres17 Haha, you are full of shit.
      1. Frauderer is the one making excuses all the time. EVERY time he loses, he has an excuse. For example, when he was destroyed by 20 yo Djokovic at AO 2008, he made up that he was sick with mono. Pathetic piece of shit, simply can't admit that he is not as good as Djokovic. When Rafa was beating him all the time, he was excusing it all the time that it is because of the clay. Actually in the beginning, he was saying that he was as good as Nadal on clay, but then when Rafa was destroying him oever and over again he reverted to the clay excuse like all his pother fans. TO THIS DAY he excuses his losses to Nadal mainly with the clay, listen to one of his interviews recently. Nadal has proved time and time again that he ebats him everywhere, Frauderer even cried at AO when Rafa PROVED that beats him on ahrd as well at a slam. Rafa beat him three out of three times at AO, HE STILL is saying that he beats him on clay only.
      Another thing, when Rafa beat him at Wimbledon, he said after the match that he lost because it was too dark.
      At AO 2009, he again was bitching after the match, saying that he should ahve won and bs like that. In fact Nadal was in control the whole time and was better than him. During the match he was constanlty bitching to the umpire.
      He has constanlty excused his losses to Nadal with Nadal being a lefty.
      He always has excuses about the surfaces.
      When he loses, there is always a reason. When Berdych beat him at Wimby 2010, he said he was injured. When Djoko beat him at USO 2010, he said that he lost because he was thinking about the final. In 2010 he said that he should ahve won. In 2013 he was constnalty excusing his losses with injuries. THE list is ENDLESS. He always has an excuse when he is losing.
      2. Clay is clearly tthe most difficult surface, ask anyone who knwos tennis( as obviously you don;t. Clay is a test of everything - technque, mental strength, intellgienece, phsyque everything. The fast surfaces mainly favor servebots and big hitters. So clay doesn show if your technique is solid, huh? You don't know what you are talking about.
      Grass is a compeltely irrelevant surface, it only excists because of Wimbledon, but nobody plays on that worldwide. MOST of the tennis world plays on clay. In fact Fraudere himself has learned to play the game ON CLAY, as all the other of the big four. Murray went to Barcelona to imrpvoe.
      HUH, Frauderer is the most complete player? WHAT? That's why he sucks on clay and has won RG only once and can't beat Nadal there??? That's why Nadal has conquered all the other slams and won RG NINE times? Nadal is a much more versatile player than Federer. Federer only HAS A SERVE! He is a limited talentless servebot. Nadal and Djokovci are complete players with full weaponry.
      3. 4 of Frauderer's wins are at the Masters Cup, which is an irrelevant tournament. Once he beat him with the refs in Miami 2005 and the two big wins at Wimbledon. Nadal has woned him all the time, so there is no comparison
      Nadal beat Frauderer 6-1 6-3 6-0 in a Grand Slam final.
      4. Haha, I have no problem with Nadal retiring, I am perfectly happy with his career. I don;t like seeing him lose. He has nothing to prove. Unfortunately for Frauderer, he will be remembred as Nadal's bitch and it will hit him and his fans the hardest when Rafa retires. It's over, buddy! :)

    • @samfisher5
      @samfisher5 Před 8 lety +1

      +samfisher5 About Nadal and Djokovic. Nadal says in his book that it's a lot easier to play against Federer, because sooner or later he will make a mistake. But againt Djokovic it's almost impossible to come up with a clea tactic, because he ha no weaknesses and is a complete player. You simply have to play your best tennis yo have a chance against him.
      Nadal doesn;t think that Federer is that good at all, as you wre saying. That's what he says to the media. But he's never feared him and knows he is better than him. So you are compeltely wrong about that.
