    Classic old school bluesy Quo! The best kind. Status Quo from 1970 to 1979 was the greatest. Rock in peace Mr Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster 🤘

    best version I've heard of them doing that song - more interplay between Rossi & Parfitt - more of a bluesy sound from Rossi

    Know what you mean Peckham, as I have the video for In my Chair.
    I am desperatly trying to find the 1972 Marquee footage of Roadhouse Blues.
    They played Paper Plane and Dont waste my time as well. I saw the footage on New Zealand TV around 1976 but never saw it again. Also saw the NZ special on Grunt Machine when they toured. Long Interviews etc. Would love to see those again - Anyone??

  • @olragblues
    @olragblues Před 15 lety +2

    Yeah,that was the reason Nuff left..he wanted the band to stay with the Rock sound if you like,but Rossi,in his own words wanted to broaden the bands sound.Marguerita Time was the last straw as far as Nuff was concerned.

      It's definitely not " In My Chair "
      The physical actions and movements on their instruments don't co-ordinate with the ones required for "In My Chair "
      I am a Drummer and I know which QUO song Coghlan is playing in this video.

    @0nthelevel -it is Quo back about 1970 when they had moved from pop music of the 60's to rock under the PYE label, however they are not singing Junior's Wailing its more than likely a recording of Something's Going on in my head from Dog of Two Head. I know this is QUO as I have seen them on and off in concert since 1970.

    • @23rdjune
      @23rdjune Před 7 lety

      Because the sound is 'Juniors wailing', either from a studio or live perfomence, but the video is, i think, from an old video of 'In my chair' possibly from 'TOTP' in 1970.

  • @sargem06
    @sargem06 Před 14 lety

    @Gyphia This is definately Junior's Wailing, however if you pause at 2.15 you will fine that Alan Lancaster is not even singing and this version is the version sung by him. If you watch the film carefully you will find it is a repeating process of the same piece film about one minute long which is repeated over and over!

    there's a good version of this song by BIG BEAT 60 - they also do a good version of Big Fat Mamma
    I like this as there's none of the Cartoonish Rossi / Parfitt pantomime act - Rossi just plays his simple but well played bluesy licks and it starts with the lead guitar not rhythm chuga - chuga

    apparently Alan Lancaster wanted a heavier rock sound instead of the 12 bar chuga - chuga sound .
    Some felt Quo's problem was they could sell out gigs easily enough but not necessarily albums , there was also the view of broadening the sound to sell in America .
    I think the rot started with Rockin ' all over the World and the producer , it didn't just happen overnight !
    The Yanks didn't know what to make of Quo before AND they've enough of their own bands that play types of boogie .

      Had Status Quo kept touring here in the USA, they would have had a good following and gotten more radio play. Rock fans that I knew talked well of them.

    Coghlan suited the band's sound - problem was that they fell out .
    Unfortunately these things happen .
    It was felt that Rossi had too much influence in the band's sound , either it was the one idea stuff or poppy stuff like Marguerita Time .
    Unfortunately trying to get people to gang up on Rossi didn't work .

    This is a terrible video.
    Nothing is in sync, look at the Drumming, that's a dead give away.
    Lancaster isn't even in camera shot and he's the one on lead vocals.
    I think the camera guy is more stoned than the band.
    The audio is a LIVE recording because I and you can hear the different notes that a very stoned Rossi is playing. Hilarious.
    Were they really in Sweden in 1971?
    This video creates more questions than answers. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Is it really me? Gotta go home?
