1,000-megawatt solar farm to supply green energy for Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone

  • A full agreement on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone will be signed in September, nine months after Malaysia and Singapore inked an initial MOU. This was confirmed by Malaysian Economic Affairs Minister Rafizi Ramli on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Dalian. He also revealed that Malaysia is developing a 1,000-megawatt solar farm that will supply green energy to the businesses there. Charlotte Lim with more.

    Chee critiques the PAP’s approach, which involves clearing large swathes of forest and reclaiming land to house the expanding non-citizen population, thus compromising precious green ecosystems and exacerbating climate change.

      Because Singapoe will finance the building of the solar farm and other infrastructure. Malaysia is smart to make use of Singapore's resources.

      Malaysia don't have much real forests. Everything all kena chopped down to plant plantation. Just Palm Oil accounts for 40% of Johor's land.

      China manufactures 80% of the world's solar panels. It manufactures 90+% of the polysilicon used in the production of solar panels. Most of the inverters and electronics used in solar panels come from China as well.
